Controlled assessments are an essential component of the GCSE English programme. You need to complete a series of assessments on topics such as Macbeth, descriptive writing and speaking and listening. Although these are not exams, they have to be assessed in a controlled environment with a member of staff. These account for 40% of the overall grade and provide the opportunity for you to improve your chance of gaining a grade C or above after the final exams. The deadline for all controlled assessments to be completed is: Friday 17 April 2015
