Types of Paragraphs
Expository: Non-Fiction, made to describe or inform, sharing
knowledge (recipes, textbooks, articles in paper, instructions)
Narrative: Tells a story, different points of view. fiction or nonfiction.
Persuasive: Trying to change someone elses mind, OPINION (TV
ads, commercial, magazine ads)
Descriptive: Uses senses, detailed picture of person, place, object
or event. Describes… (picture captions, poetry)

Expository: Explain something, describe using details, show how to do
something, giving a report (instructions/directions, recipes, Encyclopedia)
Narrative: Telling a story, fiction, non-fiction, (Five W’s: Who, What, When,
Where & Why) (Poetry, Biography, movie, Autobiography)
Persuasive: Persuade someone to do something, have the same opinion,
include several details, reasons, facts to support your opinion.
(Commercials!!! Court Cases, Ads, Magazines)
Descriptive: Describe things using Senses!!!
