You will cover drawing standards, the use of common features, lettering and orthographic projections. As well as the use of symbols and abbreviations. Scenario As you continue to develop in your role as a trainee design engineer the company would like to push your skills. Using drawings from the company portfolio they would like you to study and familiarise yourself with the business standards. You must be able to provide evidence to the management that you understand and also recognise the importance of following the company standards. Task For this task you will need to study and interpret the main features of the technical drawing provided. Using a paper copy of the drawing you will make your own notes and mark key features/information that the drawing provides. To further your assignment you will need to explain the importance of working to a set of standards. Explain why engineering companies use set standards when producing engineering drawings and why symbols are useful information tools. This will provide evidence for P3; Interpret the main features of a given engineering drawing which complies with drawing standards.
