Dear Parents and Guardians:
Statement of Beliefs:
As the school year ends, I would like to thank all the parents, community members,
faculty, staff, and students who make Moscow High School such a wonderful place
to work and learn. I have enjoyed this year immensely - despite developing quite a bit
more gray hair. Through all our struggles it has been the humor, flexibility, and dedication to kids of the MHS community that made 2014-2015 a success.
All people can learn and learning is a life-long process
Things here have largely returned to normal, and we are all excited about the end of
the year and graduation. The newly elected ASB officers are already making plans to
continue improving the culture and climate of the school, beginning with the fall’s welcome back assembly and Homecoming Parade.
Students, families, and the schools should have high
expectations for student success
I hope everyone has a wonderful summer - I for one am looking forward to the normal
routine of maintenance and cleaning without construction! Please never hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. My door is always open to you.

Another year is coming to an end. Once again we have been fortunate to have outstanding coaches and advisors working with our students in both curicular and cocurricular activities. Our students have done an excellent job of representing MHS.
A meeting for all fall sports will be scheduled for August 12th at 6:00pm in the High
School Auditorium. This meeting is for parents and athletes who plan to participate
in a fall sport at MHS. Following are the start dates for the 2015 fall sports:
Football - August 10th
Boys and Girls Soccer - August 10th
Volleyball - August 14th
Cross Country - August 14th
Reminder
In order for students to compete in Co-Curricular Activities they must have on file:
- A physical exam: new ones are required for 9th and 11th grade students
- An interim physical/consent form
- A substance abuse form
- Purchase a student body card: MHS $31.00
- Pay an activity fee: MHS $60.00 per sport
All sports activities are listed on www.msd281.org. We make every effort to keep the
site current and up-to-date regarding competitive activities. If you have questions or

The All-School Play
MHS’ all-school play will be a musical this year! Winner of three TONY
Awards, two Obie Awards, and numerous other awards, Urinetown is a hilarious musical satire of the legal system, capitalism, social irresponsibility,
populism, bureaurcacy, corporate mismanagement, municipal politics, water
conservation, and musical theatre itself! Hilarious and touching, Urinetown
is nothing if not honest. It provides a fresh perspective of one of America’s
greatest art forms.
Our production is set in a futuristic Seattle where a terrible water shortage,
caused by a 20-yr draught, has led to a government-enforced ban on private
toilets. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charing admission for one of humanity’s most
basic needs. Amid the people, a hero decides he’s had enough, and plans
revolution to lead them all to freedom!
With music by Mark Hollmann, lyrics by Mark Hollmann and Greg Kotis,
and book by Greg Kotis, Urinetown will be produced by special arrangement with Musical Theatre International and MHS plans to partner with
Palouse Clearwater Environmental Institute as the topic of water conservation is timely and important to our community.
Perfomances will be Friday, May 15 and Saturday, May 16 at 7:30pm and
Sunday, May 17th at 2:00pm. Tickets will go on sale soon so be on the lookout for Urinetown ... not the place ...the musical.

What’s With the Green Dot?
Hopefully in the next few month you will start hearing
about Green Dot from your student, but just what is it?
Green Dot is a bystander intervention program that aims
to empower students with tangible skills they can use
when faced with a situation where someone is impacted
by, or may be about to be impacted by, violence. Imagine
if your student, or another young person you care about,
is in a position where they might be harmed by someone
else -- wouldn’t you want a bystander to do something to
keep that harm from happening? Trained facilitators from
Moscow High School, the Moscow Police Department, and
Alternatives to Violence of the Palouse will be working
to launch the Green Dot at MHS as part of the upcoming
school year. Parent training will be offered to help support
what the students are learning and living.
As we work to end violence no one has to do everything,

Donate Your Prom Attire!
Prom dresses and suits are needed for Mrs. Thorton’s prom collection. Please
consider donating any dresses, shoes purses etc. as well as full suits or suit
parts. All donations are made available to any student wishing to borrow that
perfect outfit for a great prom look.
We do ask that all items are cleaned prior to donation.
You can drop them by the office anytime.
