Staying in Contact
Hello Families!
My name is Pastor Kyle, and I am the Middle School Pastor at Spotswood Baptist Church. We are super excited that your middle
schooler is signed up to attend our biggest event of the year, Elevate, on March 13-15. We not only believe your middle schooler
will have an amazing time, but that his/her life will be impacted for eternity. Thank your for making such an important investment in
your MSer’s life.
We want to make sure you have everything you need so that you can prepare for the weekend. Below you will find a packing list,
where to go to check your MSer in on Friday, where and how to pick him/her up, and a few other things we believe you will need.
If for some reason you have a question that this packet does not answer, please call us at 540-898-0757 (ask for Ryan) or email us
at [email protected].
Looking forward to an amazing weekend!
grace and peace,
Kyle Kelley

Check-in (Friday, March 13, 6:00p)

Please
do not drop your middle schooler’s luggage off before checking in.
A Parent, legal guardian, or approved party must check your MSer in before he/she can participate in Elevate activities.
This will be the time to turn in any needed registration pieces (payment, registration card, medical form, copy of insurance card).
NOTE: your MSer will not be allowed to participate unless ALL of these pieces have been turned in to Spotswood Baptist Church.
You will also be asked to turn in your MSer’s medications to the registration table. They will be added to the Host Home
Leader’s care package. The Host Home Leader will be in charge of ensuring your MSer takes the meds at the prescribed time.
Your MSer will be given a colored wristband to wear throughout the weekend. This wristband designates what Host Home
group he/she belongs to and must be worn at all times.
Your MSer’s luggage will be tagged with the same color wristband to ensure his/her luggage gets transported to the right home.
You will then be directed to the luggage drop off zone, where you will meet your middle schooler’s host home leader(s). Drop
luggage off in the appropriate zone according to your middle schooler’s assigned color.
Once you drop off luggage, make your way with your MSer to the Fellowship Hall. If you need directions, feel free to ask one of
our Host Home Leaders or available ushers. You should also receive directions while you are checking in your MSer.
In the Fellowship Hall, look for your MSer’s table (marked by a similarly colored sign and the name of the Host Home). There
you can meet your MSer’s assigned college leaders, if you like. They will be hanging out with your MSer and leading their small
group time.
You are free to leave!
Pick Up (Sunday, March 15, 12:45p)
• Your middle schooler will attend the 11:30a worship service at Spotswood, which usually ends at 12:30p.
• Pick Up will take place in the Fellowship Hall. Your middle schooler’s luggage can be found underneath their group’s sign.
• Host Home leaders will conduct check-out. A Parent, legal guardian, or approved party must check your MSer out before he/she
•
•
can leave Elevate.
Please refrain from grabbing luggage until your middle schooler has been checked out.
If you need to pick your middle schooler up before 12:45p, you are required to fill out the Time Away Form located in the
Registration brochure. If you need another one, you can find it at msm.spotswood.org/elevate.
Rules
RESPECT AUTHORITY
Obey all instructions given by staff, college leaders, and host home leaders. And, do it with a good attitude and no back-talking.
RESPECT EACH OTHER
Be nice with your words, keep your hands and body to yourself, don’t bully people, and don’t go through people’s stuff.
RESPECT THE SPACE
Don't trash vehicles, houses, rooms, or Spotswood's campus. If you make a mess, clean up after yourself. And don’t intentionally
or recklessly break stuff at Spotswood or your Host Home.
LADIES FIRST
NO PRANKS
Spotswood does not tolerate a pranking culture. We have found that students can get so excited about pranks that they miss out
on what God wants for them. Additionally, pranks can get unintentionally out of hand and create dangerous situations for all parties
involved.
NO PURPLES
Guys are Blue. Girls are Pink. Together, they make purple. Guys hang out with guys. Girls hang out with girls.
DON’T GO OFF BY YOURSELF
You must stay in a group of at least 3. No leaving Elevate to go off by yourself. No going off by yourself at your Host Home.
NOTE: Spotswood’s Middle School Ministry reserves the right send your MSer home for violating rules (if Pastor Kyle deems it
necessary). In the event that your MSer is sent home, it will be your responsibility to pick your child up at Spotswood Baptist Church,
where they will be waiting with Pastor Kyle and any pertinent leaders.
Staying in Contact
We ask that all parents refrain from trying to get into contact directly with their middle schoolers. If for some reason you need to do
so, please call any of the numbers below, explain the situation, and we will get you into contact with them as soon as possible.
