A message from our pastor...
Scripture:
A Large Following?
Mark 1:29-39
Why did people follow Jesus? Why did he
ask people impacted by his ministry to say
nothing? Why did it come to a point that the
crowds began to back off and dwindle? Why do
we have misunderstandings about who Jesus
was and what his ministry was all about?
Mark deals with these questions and many
more. He has a characteristic called the
“Messianic Secret” which is part of his gospel.
Jesus hides who he is and what he wants to do
in the world for a while. People blurt it out
anyway. Later, when he wants them to tell who
he is, many are frightened of being associated
with him. Silly human beings.
We have a hard time understanding who
God is and what God is all about. It is a
matter of study and experience. God wants a
relationship with us. He is willing to share of
Himself and His resources with us. We will
talk more on Sunday.

Wednesday Fellowship Supper - Policy
The meal costs $7 for adults, children 3-12 $3. It includes
entrée, side, vegetable, tossed salad, bread, dessert, tea &
coffee. Or, just Salad Bar, bread and dessert for $5.
Our Policy
Please make reservations before
3:30p Tuesday so that enough food is
purchased! If you forget to make a
reservation and want to join us, we
ask if you would please wait until
those who did reserve go through the
line first (except first time visitors,
they are first in line). Please, pay for
your no shows or cancellations after
Tues.
We want everyone to have a full meal,
so please, take only one serving at first.
When everyone has gone through, you
may get seconds.
NEW: Now you can get just a
Salad Bar with bread and
dessert. You may go to the Salad
Bar more than once. There will
be a separate area for the extras
for Salad Bar Only. Only a tossed
salad is with the hot meal. (write
“salad” on reservation)

The Methodist Men meet the first Tuesday
of the month at 6:30pm. All men are
welcome and are encouraged to attend any
meeting. The men also meet every
Tuesday morning at 7:00am at the IHOP
for Men’s Prayer Breakfast. All men are
welcome.
Men on a Mission
The United Methodist Men’s “Men on a
Mission” will help church members who
are widowed, single mothers, or elderly
coupe with simple, minor repairs/
renovations to your home. You only pay
for the materials. They also accept a love
offering. Call the office at 953-3090.
UMW Needs Your Help
Helping us with this one SMALL task can
make a HUGE difference to people who are
in need. Can you imagine yourself never
owning a pair of shoes? The United
Methodist Women are collecting gently
worn SHOES to help support microenterprise programs in underdeveloped
nations. They will be used by people in
impoverished countries where they can
repurpose and sell them. This enables
them to form an income so they can pay
for housing, food, education, etc. It also
raises funds for our group. A true WIN
WIN!
WE NEED YOUR HELP! Go out and collect
25 pairs of shoes. You can ask friends,
family members, neighbors, co-workers,
etc. for their help. And don’t forget to look
through your closet. And please, take the
enclosed flyer to post
at your business.

Intercept Human Trafficking
On February 1, 2015, many Americans will
watch Super Bowl XLIX. Thousands will travel to
the Phoenix area to take part in the festivities.
Among the travelers will be those arriving by
force, fraud or coercion – they will not be there
of their own free will but as victims of human
trafficking. They will be serving food in
restaurants or at catered parties related to the
Super Bowl. Others will clean hotel rooms,
wash dishes, tidy nail salons, deliver or wash
windows. Some will be trafficked as sex
workers for escort services. United Methodist
Women has asked its members to join the
Intercept the Traffickers photo campaign and
huddle together to raise awareness of human
trafficking. The powerful photos of groups
huddling to end trafficking will be part of a
virtual huddle around the Super Bowl stadium.
This campaign is just one part of United
Methodist Women’s ongoing work to end
human trafficking.
