in Fulton. This event is for youth 8-13 years of age as of December 31. Let me know by
Wednesday, May 13, if you plan to participate. This is a great contest opportunity for our
Jr. Age 4-H youth.
Poultry Chain
Youth who signed up for poultry chain should be prepared to pick chicks up during the
week of May 18-21, 2015. You will need to prepare your box with light, feed, waterer and
etc….Make sure your coop is sterilized clean if you have used it recently. Keep temperature at chick level at 90 degrees Fahrenheit and lower temp 5 degrees each week until you
reach 70 degrees.

Some days you may not need light (heat) due to warm temperatures. Do not place
chicks with any chickens you already have.

Make sure you keep good records. The record book is 50% of the project score. Pictures
are great to place in your record book as you prepare for arrival of your project chicks.

Rule Books: I ask that you review the rule book and information for the event you signed
up to compete in. Also, a contestant competing in barrels, poles, and stakes race classes
must wear a properly fitted ASTM/SEI equestrian helmet with a fastened chin harness.
DO NOT unfasten your helmet in speed events while exiting the arena.
Photography, horse art, stall decorating, t-shirt, public speaking and other non-riding contest entries are due to me by Wednesday, May 13, 2015. Rules are in rule book.
All horses qualifying for the State 4-H horse show must enter and pay all fees as set up by
the District Show. There will be no substitutions, additions, etc...made after the District
Show day. It is the exhibitors responsibility to see that all entries and fees are properly
made and paid at the appropriate times and checked for corrections. Each individual will
be responsible for paying his or her own expenses at the conclusion of each show day at
the District and State show. The Regional qualifying entries will also have to be completed
the day you qualify at the show.
Good luck to each of you at the 4-H horse shows. Remember all your paperwork and let
me know if you have any questions. I have included a district horse show schedule.
