Throw Count Indicator
The Throw Meter is your guide to daily
throwing limits. It is full (or near full) at
the beginning of the day. The throw
meter depletes as you throw. When your
throw meter is depleted, your daily
workload is extremely high and it is
recommended that you stop throwing.
The Throw Meter is influenced by your
7-day workload and, over time, adjusts
to your pitching habits.

Key Metrics and App Functions

WORKLOAD AT A GLANCE
Workload, measured over a 7day period is a measure of the
stress placed on the ulnar
collateral ligament (UCL) from
throwing. It is comprised of a
factor of throwing volume and
cumulative torque. A consistently
high Workload is not
recommended - lower it by
resting.
|
Guide to Using Your mThrow
PERFORMANCE AT A GLANCE
Performance, is a 1 or 7-day
average of your arm speed and
mechanical consistency of your
throws. An increase in this
measure reflects better
performance.
|
Guide to Using Your mThrow
Arm Stress (Nm)
!
Arm Stress, or Elbow varus torque, is a measure of the peak Torque
imparted on the UCL during the pitch near the time of maximum
shoulder rotation.
Elbow torque is a very important variable in
computing workloads - a high Torque measure is not good.
Count
!
Count is a simple measure of your throwing volume in a day or over a
7-day period. Pitch count is a critical factor in measuring workloads.
|
Guide to Using Your mThrow
Arm Speed (RPM)
!
Arm Speed is the peak rotational velocity of the forearm - this peak
occurs slightly after ball release and can exceed 4500 degrees/second.
Consistency
!
Consistency is a measure of how repeatable your delivery is over time. A
good Consistency measure indicates a thrower having a similar arm slot,
elbow height, and max shoulder rotation pitch-to-pitch.
|
Guide to Using Your mThrow
Arm Slot (º at release)
!
Arm Slot is measured as the arm angle that the forearm makes with the
ground at ball release. A sidearm arm slot is measured as 0 degrees, a
three-quarter delivery is measured as 45 degrees, and an over-the-top
delivery is measured as 90 degrees.
Elbow Height (in)
!
Elbow Height is reported as the vertical distance the elbow reaches at
ball release. Elbow Height is relative to the starting position of a pitch or
throw. A positive measure represents an elbow height above the starting
position. A negative measure represents an Elbow Height below the
starting position.
|
Guide to Using Your mThrow
Max Shoulder Rotation (º)
!
Max Shoulder Rotation is measured as the maximum angle the forearm
makes with the ground prior to ball release. This measure is indicative of
shoulder range of motion and can be used to track fatigue of a pitcher
throughout a game or season.
