DIGNITARY PROTECTION

Law enforcement and security personnel are often tasked with providing executive, dignitary and
witness protective details. However, few have received formal training to accomplish this unique
function efficiently and effectively. This course is designed to mitigate risk by teaching the
participants on how to provide personal protection based on principles of protective intelligence.
In this course participants will learn how potential targets are selected through the surveillance
process, and why certain targets are decided upon. The concept of creating a difficult target to
minimize risk will be discussed, as it relates to everyday commuting and travels. Protective security
advances and threat assessments will be discussed and practiced as the best tool to help minimize
risk while performing daily protection details. Dignitary protection operations will be covered in detail
including: formations, vehicular, residential, work, and travel procedures. Emergency action drills
including use of firearms, defensive tactics and tactical medical procedures will be discussed and
practiced. Core topics include:

This course involves classroom learning and extensive reality based training. Scenario exercises will
be used to evaluate student’s progress through the course and to achieve a full exposure to the
challenges of protective service details.
