Muir Undergraduate Research Scholarship
Thinking about a research project? This scholarship provides
up to $500 for each of 3-4 undergraduate research projects
by Muir College students per quarter. Proposals should be

of the quarter.

Q: How do I know what classes to take at a CA Community College?
A: Use Assist.org* to find UCSD course approximations.

 If the class you are interested in has a listed approximation:
 After you take the course, send a transcript to UCSD Admissions
 If the class is not listed on Assist.org, check with your CC to make sure
it is UC transferable, then submit a petition (see below).
*Assist.org shows how course credits earned at a California college/university can be applied when
transferred to another.
Q: How do I get credit for Major and Muir GE requirements?
A: Petition all classes taken outside of UCSD before taking them. Be
sure to include the course description, preferably the course syllabus.
 Use the Undergrad. Student Petition for courses you would like to use
for your major or minor requirements and submit it to your major/
minor department.
 Use the Muir GE Petition for courses you would like to use towards
your GE’s.
Q: Can I receive Financial Aid if I enroll in Summer courses?
 UCSD Financial Aid for UC Summer Sessions are first come, first served
 For community college or other institutions, you must make your own
arrangements. If you have questions, please contact Financial Aid
(fao.ucsd.edu)
Wherever you decide to go, take it easy with your summer schedule!
 Keep in mind that a regular UCSD quarter is 10 weeks. UCSD Summer
Session is only 5 weeks!
 Try taking 1-2 classes to help balance your academic workload and other
commitments or summer activities.
 If you’re thinking about taking more than one course, strongly consider the
intensity of the courses as well as your strengths.

Muir hosts an optional commencement (“walking”) ceremony in June for all students with Senior
Standing (135+ units)

Review your degree audit to check if you’re completing your
degree requirements. Ultimately, it is your responsibility to
verify meeting all graduation requirements.
Want to make sure that you’re good to go? Meet with an advisor for
a Degree Check appointment! Call us at (858) 534-3580.

Submit your Degree and Diploma Application (DDA) online by the
end of your last quarter. Be sure to continue monitoring the status
of your DDA after you submit it. If you plan on finishing classes after
Spring, be sure to complete this step during your final quarter.

Commencement
Whether graduating this Spring, Summer, or next year, students
with Senior Standing (135+ units by end of WI15) are allowed to
participate in commencement. Be sure to invite your friends and
family to the Commencement Ceremony.
Add your name to the Commencement Program by May 1st: Log on to
http://degree.ucsd.edu and choose “Add name to Commencement
Booklet.” To verify spelling or make changes for the program (Booklet)
only, submit a message on the Virtual Advising Center (VAC) by May 1st.
Once this deadline has passed, the program booklet will go to print, so no
modifications can be made. Official name changes must be completed
through the UCSD Registrar’s Office.
Rent your Cap and Gown and purchase your ticket at the Bookstore
starting early June. This is your official “sign up” to walk!
Muir’s Commencement Ceremony will take place:
June 13th, 2015 at 5:00PM
UCSD RIMAC Field
Check-In for Commencement with your ticket, cap and gown by
4pm at the Spanos Track and Field area. There is no required order to be seated so feel free to line-up next to your friends!
There are no physical guest tickets
—thus no limit on the number of
guests you can bring. Seating is 1st
come 1st served!
The ceremony will last
approximately two hours.
