2. What’s next for compassion? Next meeting May 4, 7 PM, at Trautmans
a. Tree City efforts – plan to plant a tree for every Toledoan in 5 year timespan. David
Longacre is helping with contacts. We are especially encouraging faith groups to
plant food-bearing trees and shrubs. We will create a resource page to raise
awareness.
b. April 18 weekend events in support of unity and compassion –

Support the positive!
c. Discussion of support for Scoutreach a non-profit which support Boy Scout initiatives
to at-risk inner city youth. Board members were sent information in an earlier email.

program seems to link with MultiFaith GROWs and Compassionate Community.
d. September Compassion Games – would like to include neighborhoods. Where and
when shall we hold Peace Day / Harvest Festival? Park Church has offered.

e. Storytellers – Hindu dancers committed. Rabbi Evan Rubin and Imam Hendi committed – need help getting
commitments – Each faith may contribute a 1 page handout for the lit table.
f. Youth event at 4 PM – game. UMAT youth organizing. Could I count on someone to make sure that all is well?
PLEASE try to help us/them get a youth turnout. Youth do not absolutely have to attend the banquet after, but
must register if they plan to. I believe the speaker will be inspiring.
g. Photo Contest. Someone needs to pick up the prints of finalists from ProMedica and put them on our easels [from
Emmett].
h. Mugs have been ordered. Emmett will pick up and he and Michele will sell at banquet for $5 / 11 oz. white coffee
mug with MFC and compassion logos in black imprint.
i. Speaker lodging and arrival. Zaheer Hasan to arrange I have not heard back from the Islamic community as to
whether they are having him come early. Cannot make hotel arrangements until that is decided.
j. We are committed to table decoration [Judy N] and help with clean-up.
4. Education Strand Updates [kind of on hold]

b. Education Program – Update Hafidha Saadiqah interested in an Institute
5. The Board of Family Promise is in need of your assistance. No new families will be served by the program until they have
commitment from 13 host churches and 13 support churches, thus limiting each church's commitment to one week per
quarter. If you have connections in another house of worship that you think may be willing to help in this important
program for homeless families, please provide contact information to Family Promise at 419-517-5544.
