MEMBERS DECRY ONE MAN RULE AT CLUB
‘DICTATOR’
NAIR GETS
THE FLAK
“Celebration Sports Club is being run by a dictator, not a
secretary, who is doing things as per his own whims and fancies”
- DARSHAN AURORA, one of the senior club member
“If Nair is really interested
in solving the accounting
issues, he can simply ask
the manager for the
records. Committees keep
changing but no one take
the receipt books home”
“He promised your
newspaper to do a grande
finale and clear all
allegations against himself.”
- UMESH MOTWANI,
Secretary of previous
managing committee
“Being the senior most
member of the club, I feel
that Hemant Nair’s
statement is totally false. If
Darshan Aurora has given
the receipt, then its Nair’s
responsibility to do the rest.
Bringing out 13 year old
bank statements is really
not possible”
- K L ARORA,
Chairman of Celebration
Sports Club.

DARSHAN AURORA APPEALS
LOKHANDWALA: The reality behind the very convincing face of Hemant Nair,
the Secretary of Celebration Sports Club has come out in the open once again
after a member of the club, Darshan Aurora, broke his silence and lashed out at
him.
According to Aurora, Nair is like Hitler, a dictator who is running the club as
per his own whims and fancies. He considers himself to be the Proprietor of the
club.” He added, “Nair is someone who can carry out illegal activities with full
confidence.” It is not just Aurora, but members of the previous Managing
Committee and the Chairman too have allegedly echoed similar sentiments.
Nair defended himself by saying, “They have started blaming me for things
again because earlier, they had a group standing against the managing
committee which included Ajay Gupta as well. And now that Gupta has taken a
step back, they have brought Darshan Aurora to stand against me. This is all
well planned, high level politics.”
PAGE 02 >>
With the elections round the corner, Darshan Aurora has made an appeal
to the members of the club. He said, “Being the senior most member of the
club, I want to appeal to all the voters to vote wisely. Everyone knows how
messy the last tenure has been. I am not asking them to vote for any specific
person because I don't want to be biased. I only want the members to vote
for a person who works in the interest of the club and not himself. Vote for
the one who saves the club's money, uses it wisely for the benefit of the
members, and maintains transparency, because the funds by which the
club is being run belongs to the members themselves. It is going to be a
long tenure so think wisely before you vote.
Don't let anyone cheat you. Further, if any other member has any
grievances, they should also come forward.”

Fake discovery director
arrested
A 27-year-old man, who duped
several individuals under the guise
of being a creative director at
Discovery channel, was arrested
by the Sion police on April 4.
The cops allege that the accused
took high definition cameras on
rent under the pretext of making
adventure promos and vanished
with these gadgets. Milind
Bharatkumar Bhatt was arrested
from Manali, where he had been
hiding after duping a cameraman
from a well-known media house in
Mumbai. Goods worth Rs 13.75
lakh have also been recovered
from the accused.
Cyber crime
investigation cell arrests
illegal escort agency
On April 3, three men were
arrested for allegedly running an
illegal online escort agency. The
accused would post photos of
models and small-time actresses
and would share the links of their
portal on social networking
websites to lure people.
However, after a client would pay
the money and reach the venue, the
escort would never turn up. The
Cyber Crime Investigation Cell of
Mumbai police's Crime Branch
have arrested Vinod Amarjit Singh,
Sunil Ramashankar Gupta, and
Ankit Suresh Pitroda.
The police laid a trap and arrested
them. Six mobile phones, 11 SIM
cards under fake names and Rs
49,500 was recovered from the
accused. The trio has been booked
under sections of the Information
Technology Act.
Death in police lockup
On April 2, Hari Chavan, a
Malwani resident, who was
brought in for questioning by the
Malwani police in connection with
a robbery case, was found dead
while in police custody.
Crime Branch officers
investigating the case have found
out that it would have been
possible for the deceased to
commit suicide as he was
unattended, which could amount to
negligence on the part of the police
officers.
According to the Malwani police,
Chavan was detained in connection
with a robbery case along with his
son-in-law. On Thursday morning,
when his daughter went to see him,
she found him hanging from the
grills of the lock-up window with
the help of the sleeves of his shirt.
Lover stabs ex-girlfriend
and attempts suicide
On April 6, a 30-year-old stabbed
his ex-girlfriend and then tried to
kill himself in a hotel room in
Andheri.
Suraj Surve and the woman both
from Ratnagiri, were in a
relationship and lived together for
a while. A year ago, the woman got
married to someone else. Sarve
then came to Mumbai and
contacted her. He wanted revenge
so he called the woman to the hotel
and the two soon started fighting
and an enraged Sarve took out a
knife and stabbed her multiple
times on her face, hand and
stomach. He then slit his own
wrist.

MEMBERSHIP ISSUE
Aurora has alleged that Nair has
problems with him because he
supports Ajay Maheshwari, the
Chairman of the previous managing
committee of the club. A personal
conflict harmed the professional
ethics in Celebration Sports Club
when Darshan Aurora's son,
Siddharth Aurora's membership to
the club was declined without any
prior information.
He said, “I am a regular visitor of
the club – it is like my second home.
So since Nair could not cause me
harm directly, he targeted my son.
My son actually faced mental
harassment when he went there, as
employees of the club could not trace
his membership details.” Siddharth
Aurora said, “I felt really
embarrassed and humiliated when
this incident took place. After that
day, I have stopped going to the club.
Being one of the oldest members, it is
not just an insult to me, but to my
father too.”
Darshan Aurora had taken three
memberships to the club in the year
2002, which included himself, his
wife and his son. In the year 2008,
they received the last bill on
Siddharth's name. When they
noticed that they were not receiving
any correspondence from the club
for the same, or even an annual bill,
they wrote a letter to the club on
December 22, 2013. Siddharth
addressed the letter to the Club
Secretary Hemant Nair stating: I am
not receiving the annual bills
regularly. So far, I have received just
one bill in the year 2008 amounting
to Rs. 2022.48. Please check your
records and send me up-to-date bills
so that I can clear my dues.
Despite the said letter, they
received no reply. Darshan Aurora
said that he didn't perceive it as a
personal grudge until Nair did not
recognize the receipts and asked him
to bring his bank statement of the
year 2002. Aurora wrote to Nair the
last time in February 2015 along with
the membership receipt. “Nair told
me that he needs the bank statement
of 2002 to verify the membership.
Now how am I to obtain a 13-yearold bank statement?” he added.
Nair said, “The receipt book of the
particular receipt which he has sent
me is not there. We are tracking
many fake receipts, due to which the
membership fee of many existing
members has not been received by
the club. In fact, an FIR has been
lodged in the police station for the
fake membership case. The old
committee has not handed over the
receipt books to me and that
particular membership was taken
during their period. Now all that I am
asking for is a bank statement to
verify if the payment has been made
to the club or not. He can simply
write a letter to the bank and obtain
the same.” He added, “Why would I
have any personal enmity with
Darshan Aurora? Who is he? This is
mere politics being played by making
Darshan Aurora the face of it.”
To verify if the books have been
given to Nair or not, we asked the
secretary of the previous committee,
Umesh Motwani about the same. He
said, “He is lying. Committees keep
changing after every period but no
one takes home the receipt books.
They all are in the club godown and if
he is really interested in solving the
issue, then he can simply ask the
manager to pull out the books from
the godown.”
The people of the Indus Valley Civilization built efficient drains,
bathrooms and many other sanitation devices. The Harappans invented
and used the world's first flush toilets. The streets were built on a grid
pattern and networks of sewers were dug under them. Toilets were
flushed with water.
Ironically, now if you look around, especially in the mornings people are
defecating in various places. Many houses don't have toilets and people
use the roads. This is extremely unhygienic and many diseases spread
because of it. Ironically, not a reflection of ancient India.

LACK OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Darshan Aurora also blamed Nair of
giving no accountability to the club
members. He said, “This man keeps
spending on anything he wants and
keeps half the money in his own
pocket. He has now installed air
conditioners in the washrooms. If he
actually wants to better the club,
then spend money on something
meaningful. He spends on useless
things to only make profit.”
Nair said, “I am only accountable
to the general body and I am doing
that very well. I am not accountable
to every member of the club. The
general body sends accounts to the
representatives of all the societies in
our association. Each member
cannot ask me for accountability. If a
society representative asks me about
the same, I am surely answerable to
Hemant Nair
them.” On the air conditioner issue,
he said, “Tell him to remove the ACs
from his house. The AC is for the
members and not for him. Also, this
is a decision made by the managing
committee, which is not answerable
to every random person.”

AN EXAMPLE OF DICTATOR’S’ ARROGANCE
Umesh Motwani
For the election, the authorities of
the association send a circular asking
for confirmation of the names of the
representative members from their
respective societies.
According to Motwani, “The
circulars were sent to all the societies
which included the society next to
mine on February 8, 2015. Only after
someone called me asking if I had
received the letter, did I know that
they had been dispatched. I
immediately mailed Nair about it to
which he replied that he knows his
duties and that he was not a 'dummy'
secretary like me. When I requested
him to send the circular as soon as
possible, he said 'I am not your
servant. Get lost.' I was just asking
f o r t h e c i r c u l a r, b e i n g a
representative member. How can he
reply so disrespectfully? This shows
his attitude. If the circular was sent
to all the societies then why wasn't it
sent to mine? This is a true reflection
of his intention and the duty he
performs.”

Hundreds participate in fundraiser cyclothon
'Umeed Dil Se' organised for those suffering
from Congenital Heart Disease
Kritika Sharma
LOKHANDWALA: The Rotary Club
organized a fundraiser cyclothon
named 'Umeed Dil Se' in Andheri
West on April 5, aiming to spread
awareness on Congenital Heart
Disease (CHD) and also to treat few
under privileged children suffering
from the same. CHD has become a
common occurrence in today's
world. The hearts of the kids are
deformed from birth and there is only
one way to cure the problem - to
undergo surgery. The surgeries cost
anywhere in the bracket of Rs.2 to
Rs.3 lakhs, including the cost of the
implants required.
The cyclothon for which
preparations were going on since a
long time was mainly organized by
the Rotary Club in collaboration with
Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital
along with ground partner Mumbai
FC, event partner Birbal, outdoor
partner Bright Outdoor Media Pvt.
Ltd, cycle partner Firefox, holiday
partner Club Mahindra, supported by
RBL bank and Celebration Sports
Club. The press coverage was
exclusively done by Mumbai
Messenger.
The cyclothon started from
Lokhandwala Back Road to Juhu Tara
Road and back. The rally commenced
at 6.30am wherein an enthusiastic
crowd including the participants,
organizers and supporters were
present in large numbers.
A participant Akshay said, “I have
been cycling since childhood and this
is something I will be doing for a
cause so it motivates me.” The event
was flagged off by Celebrity Guest
Javed Jaffery who also rode along
with participants till Juhu. Jaffery
said, “Mumbai roads are not suitable
for cycling, but since this is for a
cause I am up with it. I was unwell
and on antibiotics but since I had
made a commitment to do this, I had
to fulfill it. I highly appreciate RCGM's
efforts for spreading awareness
about CHD and helping out the
children in need of operations free of
cost. I was up since 4 a.m. and was
looking forward to be here to support
this remarkable cause. I am pumped
up after watching the enthusiasm
LAXMAN RAJAI
here.”
At the end of the cyclothon,
refreshments were served to all
participants. The Director General of
Rotary Club, Ajay Gupta felicitated
the supporters in presence of
celebrity guest Javed Jaffery and KK
Menon. The ones felicitated were
representative members of the
supporters along with the Concept
Designer of Cyclothon and Lead
Cyclist Rotarian Jasmeet Gandhi, the
current president Rotarian Khuzem

Botawalla who gave Rs.15 lakh, while
the second highest donor was
Hindustan Petroleum.
“This cause is very close to my
heart. We wanted to raise awareness
of such illnesses which are hard to
detect and very tough to cure. As an
NGO, we have come across many
kids suffering from CHD and have
seen many give up the fight against it
for obvious reasons. The prices of the
operation of are too high and
sometimes simply unaffordable,”
informed Jasmeet. “At Rotary we
always try and involve the people
around us, making it a community
effort. So this year we organised this
cyclothon to raise awareness and
funds in a fun and healthy way,” he
added.
Speaking about the event, “Being
a sports development and consulting
agency, I did not think twice before I
took up the responsibility to help in
organizing this event. If you ask me a
Cyclothon was a perfect way to
support this good cause of CHD”

Ajay Gupta said, “The motive of
our club is to make sure that no life is

hope that Rs.30 lakh is just the
beginning.” The amount collected
(Rs.30 lakh) was then handed over to
Dr. Ram Narain, the Executive
Director of Kokilaben Dirubhai
Ambani. “I am just a doctor standing
in the background but the major
work is being done by Ramesh
Sabnis and Mrs. Natasha,” said Dr.
Ram. Sabnis added, “We have
worked together as a team. I was
initially very skeptical for doing CHD
surgeries. Only after my first CHD
surgery was a success, I gained
confidence and there has been no
looking back since then.”

Major demolition
at Seven Bungalows

BMC knocks down four restaurants,
one pet shop and one salon as
society complains against such
illegal encroachments
Shrutika Sukhi
SEVEN BUNGALOWS: On April 1, at around 1:15pm, few
shops and restaurants were demolished under Varsha
Apartments, Seven Bungalows for illegally encroaching on
the footpath. A notice had been issued to the shopkeepers
almost a month back to clear the encroached area, but was
of no avail. Suddenly after over a month when the
bulldozers started breaking their shops, the shopkeepers
were shocked. Even a paan shop was demolished, which
hadn't encroached on the footpath. The shops have been
there since almost 35 years. In total, four restaurants, one
pet shop and one salon were demolished.
The owner of Laxmi Hotel, Santosh Yadav said, “We
don't know why they knocked down our restaurant. We
have a license. The only thing on the footpath was the shed
and we have erected it so that no garbage from the building
falls in front of the shop and to protect it from the rain.”
Another shop owner, Vinay Jadhav said, “The society
has given money to the BMC to do all this. Earlier the
society used to take Rs 3,000 from us every month, now
they were demanding Rs 10,000 which we didn't agree to
give, so they have got this done.”
One of the residents of Varsha
Apartments, who didn't want to disclose
their identity said, “We live like prisoners
in our own homes because of the smoke
that the restaurant emits. There are
three to four Cancer patients in this
building, and a resident even got Chairman
Asthma because of this. They don't
have requisite permission, but they are
still here. We have to keep our windows
closed all day long, as we can't bear the
smoke. One of the shops is even owned
by ex-corporator Geeta Yadav, so since
many years, she had been doing what
she wished. Now with the BJP in power,
Secretary
she can't do anything.”
The Secretary of Varsha Apartments, Shanker Nagrani
said, “All the members were falling sick because of the
smoke. It's been 30 years since we have been bearing this.
They have made a chimney near the meter room, which is
illegal.” The residents have denied having given an NOC for
installing the chimney or for having asked for money from
any of the shopkeepers. The members claim to have
complained about the alleged nuisance caused by the
shops to MLA Amit Satham.
“Earlier the society used to take Rs 3,000 from us every
month, now they were demanding Rs 10,000 which we
didn't agree to give, so they have got this done”
Shopkeeper
The residents have denied having asked for money
from any of the shopkeepers
The Chairman, Prakash Dudani said, “We are tired of
complaining to the BMC about this issue since eight years. I
have shown Satham the problems we are facing and I am
very thankful for the action he has taken. The place is
always stinking of food and there is too much noise around
the area. They have forcefully occupied additional 300
feet.”
Ashit Kumar, Manager of Crown Open Kitchen said, “It
takes 15-20 days to finish work on the chimney, so the
society knew about it. They gave us verbal permission to
carry out the work. Earlier they had a problem with the
smoke, so we installed chimneys. We have a license since
30 years and until now there was no problem.” Most flats
had balconies, which have been converted into rooms by
members.
Ketan Kotak, Manager of Stomach restaurant said, “The
restaurants which have been demolished received a notice
from the BMC because the society had a problem with
them. Building members can object to any illegal use of
open space that has been allotted to them. The moment it
is encroached upon, it can be demolished by the BMC. We
have made an assessment of the open space that we have
acquired. Every year we pay assessment fees to the BMC.
By law, one can use the open space for people to sit, not
operate equipments or to cook. That's why we only have
tables and chairs in the open.”
Kishore Jadhav, the BMC officer said, "One month ago
we had given them a notice to vacate the encroached area.
We waited for their reply, but when we didn't get any
response, we sent them another notice to vacate the same
area within 7 days or we would demolish it. The society had
complained to us since the shops and restaurants were
illegally using their open space. It had led to a lot of
nuisance at night as there used to be drunken people
whiling away time. Also, since it operated till late in the
night, it disturbed peace in the area."
Ray of hope for
Versova residents
Locals pin their hopes on local Corporator
Vanita Marucha, who has been relentlessly
making efforts to clear the bottleneck
Kritika Sharma
VERSOVA: The road at Versova,
near the Central Institute of Fisheries
Education has been a nuisance to
every passerby and resident. A
buffalo stable there has occupied
more than half the road leading to a
bottleneck, barring the smooth flow
of vehicles. The conditions have only
deteriorated over the years, with
people getting stuck in traffic for
hours at a stretch.
A local resident Singh said, “We
cannot use the road because if we go
there, we will only find cars
struggling to make their way out. The
Fisheries Institute and stable have
together created this problem and
have encroached upon more than
half the road. I hope it gets sorted
soon.”
The local corporator, Vanita
Marucha has been fighting for this
issue since decades and has finally
given a ray of hope to residents by
working in tandem with the
Brihanmumbai Municipal
Corporation (BMC). She said, “I had
proposed the plan in my yearly
budget session and I have asked the
BMC to carry out this work on a
priority basis. The traffic is not the
only nuisance caused, but the stable
also creates serious health issues.”
Marucha has tried to talk to the stable
residents quite a few times but
nothing has ever worked out, which
is why she has now requested the
BMC to do things their way.
Marucha recently showed BMC
Ward Officer Parag R Masurkar the
condition at the said stretch. On
seeing this, he agreed to work on the
issue. “Masurkar said that this is not
a small issue but he will start work on
it at the earliest. He is handing over
the issue to the Slum Rehabilitation
Authority (SRA) and action will be
taken soon,” she added.

Drug awareness
drive at Oshiwara
Mumbai Messenger Correspondent
OSHIWARA: On April 4, Roshans
Academy of DJs and the Anti
N a r c o t i c C e l l o rg a n i s e d a
programme to create awareness
among the residents regarding a drug
MD/METH/MEOW MEOW. This
was held in collaboration with the
Committee of Serenity Complex,
Oshiwara.
The members of Serenity
Complex made great efforts in
spreading the word, so that
maximum people could benefit from
the programme. Inspector Sawant
from the Anti Narcotic Cell Mumbai
Police spoke of the drug, gave a
detailed description of its ill effects
and how one can divert their mind by
adopting a hobby. He said, “The
people should come to the police if
they need any help. When it comes to
drugs, they should not be hesitant or
scared to approach the police. The
drugs are available in various
flavours like chocolate, peanut
butter, strawberry, so an individual's
food can be spiked, without the
person realising it. Hence the citizens
should be cautious.” Sawant also
mentioned that people selling drugs
are not always strangers; they could
even be a paan wala, watchman or a
closet friend.
Roshan of Roshans Academy of
DJs spoke of its symptoms and how
one can identify a person under its
influence. The interactive session
had a positive impact on the parents
as well as the youth. Secretary Rajiv
Ramnani and members of Serenity
Complex have pledged to join hands
in such future initiatives.
Young students of Roshans
Academy of DJs belted out some
music mixes for the crowd. Roshan
says, “Why wait for any drug to
touch you? You rather involve
yourself in a hobby. When one can
make 100 people dance to the tunes
using the fingers on the console, you
don't need any chemical to feel high,
as music is a high that lasts forever.”
This was the first time that
Roshan conducted such a program in
Oshiwara on a large scale. He usually
guides people personally or visits
societies to spread awareness. He is
looking forward to organise more
such programs in societies, clubs and
complexes.

LOKHANDWALA: As promised by the local corporator Jyotsana Dighe a few
months back, street lights were installed by her at Lakshmi Industrial Estate on
April 7.
The inauguration which was held in the presence of many local residents was
organized by Rehman Saheb and Harina Kanchan. Jyotsana Dighe said, “I have
put these poles and street lights because of sex workers who keep standing here,
taking advantage of the dark. Now that the street will be well lit, they might not
stand here.” The Brihanmumbai Muncipal Corporation (BMC) Engineer Anil
Varade said, “It took two months to get these lights. We are happy that the
results are good.” Jyotsana Dighe has been trying hard since a very long time to
erect these poles because all the residents have been facing problems. People
were even having problems going out with the family at night.” A local resident
Ramesh Sharma said, “We don't go out with our family at night because sex
workers stand there, creating a negative impact on our children. I hope these
lights solve the problem, as promised by Jyotsana Dighe.”

then molested him later. Only after the
boy started crying for help, he fled the
scene.
The DN Nagar police arrested the
accused, who then confessed to his
crime. He was arrested under Section

My Choice...
Deepika Padukone's controversial video 'My Choice,' on women empowerment is
trending everywhere. People are talking about the choices a woman has and
whether it really is 'Her' choice. While there are few supporting the content, there are
others opposing it. Here is what local residents had to share with Shrutika Sukhi
about the video...
PHOTOS/NIKET KOTECHA
I feel it's a very powerful
video giving out a good
message. Perhaps more
clarity would have helped. It
simply gives a message that
as a woman we have our
choice. Again, its not for
women like us who can
stand up for our rights. Its
for those who can't.
Preeti Dalal, 35
Deepika is standing for all
the women in society. It is a
great video to boost the
confidence of the women in
our country.
Much needed..!
Ryan Chettiar, 18
I didn't find anything great
about the video. Yes, the
video is not bad but it's not
something which hasn't been
done before. There have
been many documentaries
and videos on these topics
but it never came to light,
just because they weren't
endorsed by a celebrity.
Nipun Thakkar, 21
The video doesn't have any
flaws and it's good. The
contents are justified. A
woman should be able to
make a choice and do as she
feels.
Nidhi Arya, 19
I think whatever has been
said in the video is right and
yes, women do have and
should have a choice. She
doesn't need to take a man's
approval for something
because even men don't do
so. As we take our own
decisions, so should
women.
Yash Kinder, 20
The video is good but its just
being hyped. The same
things were said by a
minister in Bihar, but no one
supported him. In fact,
people took out all the
negative points in it. There is
a huge discrimination in our
country when it comes to
sexes.
Ashish Phad, 19
The video is very nice. The
topic on which Deepika has
taken a stand is
commendable. She being a
youth icon, especially for
women, will make a huge
impact.
Sanket Redkar, 18
I think too many things have
been said in the video,
though only a few make
sense. But what's the big
deal? Anyways, everyone
makes their own choices,
whether male or female.
I don't understand the
whole fuss about
the video.
Abel Kiro, 20
I liked the video - it's bold.
Whatever has been said, is
right and it's Deepika's and
various other women's
opinion. I don't find anything
wrong in it.
Priyam Dhar, 30
I think its a great video.
Usually men are seen
supporting female causes or
giving out a message to
society, but here its a lady
herself, who is raising her
voice and standing for the
cause. Great initiative.
No Entry Mein Entry
Shrutika Sukhi
LOKHANDWALA: Debutant actor Karan Kamal Sharda (28) has allegedly been cheated by a
couple after being promised a role in an upcoming movie. The accused Gaurav Joshi (33) and
Archana Sharma (26) were arrested for cheating Karan for Rs 3,50,000 on April 2 and April 3
respectively.
Karan is a stage actor and has acted in the movie Kahani Devi Ki, set to be released. Karan
stays in Andheri with his sister Neha. He formerly lived with his parents in South Africa but ever
since their demise he has been living with his sister in Lokhandwala.
His uncle Bimal Kumar who lives in London, flies down to India to meet him and his sister.
In December 2014, when he flew down from Delhi, he met Archana and spoke to her about his
nephew and his acting career. That time Archana promised to help him get work. After a month
Archana came to Neha's salon and met Bimal and Karan, and told them that Mohit Raina, a
producer is looking for a new face for his upcoming film 'No Entry Mein Entry,' which is a
sequel to the movie 'No Entry.' That time she asked Karan whether he had an actor's card, which
he didn't. She said that she could provide him with one, for which he had to shell out Rs
3,50,000.
On January 24, at around 11pm, Rs.15,000 was taken as advance from Karan by a man who
claimed to be Mohit Raina. After a few days, the remaining amount of Rs.3,35,000 was given to
Gaurav Joshi who was sent by Mohit Raina. Karan called Mohit and Archana after a few days
but both avoided his calls and instead replied via SMS and sent few mails from Boney Kapoor's
email id, which was hacked by the duo.
Consequently, on March 25, Mohit Raina wrote an article in a paper claiming that someone
had been using his name to con people. It was then that Karan contacted Boney Kapoor's office
asking about the sequel. He was informed that the name of the sequel was 'No Entry 2' and not
'No Entry Mein Entry.' Karan realised that he had been duped, after which he filed a complaint at
the Oshiwara police station.
Senior Police Inspector, Oshiwara, Subhash Vele said, “The accused were arrested in Juhu. If
anyone has been conned by the same people, they can get in touch with the Oshiwara police.”
The duo have been arrested under Sections 420 (Cheating and dishonestly), 34 (Acts done by
several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC and 66 (Computer related
offences), 66D (Punishment for cheating by personating by using computer resource) of the
Information Technology Act.

Honest cab driver returns phone
OSHIWARA: On April 7, Mehmood Khan (49) a
taxi driver performed a good deed by returning the
cell phone of an Andheri resident (Sandip Kundu).
The passenger was travelling from Sion to Andheri
when he forgot his cell phone in the taxi. He tried
calling on his number for a few minutes, after which
the driver picked the call and came back to the place
where he had dropped the passenger to return his
phone.
Mehmood has been working as a cab driver since
1984. He said a few days ago, a man had similarly
forgotten his phone in his cab, when he had dropped
him at the airport. “When I realised his phone was in the cab, I went back to the airport, fortunately
found him and returned his phone,” said Khan.
He added that passengers seldom forgot their belongings in the cab, but he has always made it a
point to return the valuables. He informs, “If they forget anything apart from their phones, it is
given to the union, who then informs the police and the belonging is returned to the passenger.”
Lokhandwala Bridge is perhaps the pride of the entire Lokhandwala Complex. But
woefully it is neglected. The metal barricades are broken and stolen. The footpaths have
holes everywhere and are not levelled at all. The bridge is supposed to be a hawker- free
zone but houses vegetable and fruit vendors, a cobbler's shop and a recently erected Paan
shop. There is no public lavatory, as a result Auto and Cab drivers urinate on the bridge
and make it unhygienic. The flat-owners near the bridge pay Property Tax of Rs.1500 on
an average per month. Water tax is separate. They have every right to expect clean
environment. Can Mrs. Jyotsna Dighe, Chief Municipal Ward Officer and Mr Kunte the
Municipal Commissioner look into this matter, before the area becomes another Dharavi?

One word that describes you...
There are two - ambitious and fun
loving.
Your journey towards acting?
I have been acting since school. I
was a very active in all cultural
programmes and fashion shows. I
always wanted to be a ramp model
but because of my height, I couldn't
be one. So I started doing print
advertisements in Bangalore. One
day when I was in Delhi, I received
a call to do the main lead in Mata
Pita Ke Charno Mein Swarg on
Colors. After that, there has been no
looking back.
Pillars in your journey...
This would certainly be my parents
because unlike the others, they have
supported me all through.

Tiger Shroff turns
gym advisor for youngsters
Tiger Shroff has been spending extra
hours in the gym these days. He is not
working out extra for himself but has
been helping the kids around him.
With the summer in, lots of
youngsters are joining the gym. And
that has resulted Tiger spending extra
hours in the gym. Apparently all the
new kids who are mesmerized looking
at Tiger's body and how rigorously he
works out have been rushing to him
asking for his tips and assistance.
The humble actor has been helping
all of them in high spirits and has had
no qualms about it. Infact, most of the
times he delays his own workout to
assist them properly.
Tiger who has always been
passionate about his body, feels glad
that he is able to help the younger lot.
He believes everyone should love their
body and follow a healthy and
disciplined life.
He feels happy when kids come to
him asking for suggestions as it shows
how serious they are about their fitness
at such a young age.
What do you prefer - commercials
or TV Soaps?
Doing commercials was my first and
favourite choice. I still do a lot of
them.
Changes you have seen in yourself
as a person after entering the
industry...
I am staying alone since the day I
moved to Mumbai, which has made
me a very disciplined and
responsible person. I have learnt to
manage things myself. I think I have
become more independent and
confident after entering the industry.
Any difficulties that ever came
your way...
I struggled a lot in Mumbai but then I
will not say that I faced any difficulty.
I was lucky enough to get good
works under big names.
On how you manage work with
your personal life...
We have to work 12-14 hours for 28
days in a month, which hardly leaves
time for anything else. Apart from
work, we also have to go to the gym
and maintain our looks due to our
profession. It is part of our job and we
have to do it with all our heart.
Mantra for a happy life...
One should never take things
seriously in life. Just try to spread
happiness and surround yourself
with positive people.
Best pals in Industry...
I don't have many friends but Jayati
Bhatia, Mini Arora and Pracheen are
few of my good friends.
Highest point in life...
Yet to come!
Lowest point in life...
It was when I did a commercial for a
big brand but it didn't release. I was
very disappointed but my parents
supported me a lot.
Message for aspiring actors...
Don't fear rejection and be prepared
for everything. Never get tired of
auditions because they are a part of

this is nothing but therapy via ones
sense of smell, popularly known as
'aromatherapy.'
Today, the sensory revolution is in
full swing. The power and pleasure of
scent and our sense of smell is being
explored by scientists throughout the
world. Here are some health benefits
of this well-known approach...
Dr. Vyas, an Aroma therapist
explains, “Aromatherapy is the art of
utilising the properties of essential oils
to promote health, beauty and a
sound state of mind. The smell that
we inhale, travels to our mind, affects
our body, which in turn also touches
our soul. This process is done through
aroma oils that are extracted from
fruits, flowers, seeds, leaves or the
heart root of the plant through the
process of distillation.” Pure essential
oils are highly concentrated volatile
substances. Some of them exhibit
hormone like properties and contain
vitamins, minerals and natural
antiseptics. On the various treatments
aromatherapy leads to she explains,
“Essential oils can be used to treat a
myriad of illnesses such as
depression, stress, arthritis, back
problems, muscle aches, headaches,
colds, sinus problems, skin disorders,
asthma, insomnia, metabolism,
digestive problems, and much more.”
Aromatherapy can be conducted in
many ways. A few of these methods
are:
Massage: With an aromatherapy
massage, you get the benefit of the
essential oils as well as that of the
massage. It is found that the effect of
touch. It is found that the effect of
touch can be very valuable to calm a
person and soothe the nerves.
Bath: The warmth of a bath not only
relaxes a person, it also enables the
skin to absorb the essential oils better.
Burners and vaporisers: These can
be used to deodorise, fumigate or
simply create a special atmosphere.
Inhaling the vapours can also be
therapeutically beneficial.
Inhalation: A steam inhalation is an
excellent way of treating coughs,
colds, sore throats, and for cleansing
the skin.
Compresses: Depending on the
ailment, a hot or cold compress is an
effective way of treating many local
complaints. A hot compress is very
effective in problems such as skin
infections, abscesses and boils,
muscular or joint problems, arthritis,
rheumatism, strains, strains, sprains,
backache while a cold compress is
very effective for certain types of
headache and also if the area feels hot
and inflamed.
Today aromatherapy is not only
confined to treatments via the
mentioned ways but one can also use
aromatherapy in ways of air
fresheners, car fresheners and
candles too. Dr Vyas elaborates, “Oils

explains, “It occurs when the body is
unable to regulate its temperature
due to exposure to excessive heat.
Much like a thermostat the body has
a mechanism to control temperature.
This heat regulating system helps the
body stay cool in summer and warm
in winters. The body perspires in the
summer to stay cool. Dehydration

rose can be used for all types of skin.
Tea tree can be used for oily dandruff.”
Adding a word of precaution Dr Vyas
says, “The oils cannot be directly
applied to ones skin since they are
extremely concentrated. Instead they
must be mixed with base oil
(sunflower coconut or jojoba oil).
BELOW ARE A FEW OILS:
Lemon oil: Oil of lemon helps in
acidity, arthritis, anaemia and coughs
and colds. It helps improve appetite
and reduces pain if applied on the
spot of an insect bite. One should take
note that essential oil of lemon may
cause skin pigmentation if exposed to
the sun.
Orange oil: These oils are mainly
used for ailments like bronchitis, colds
and skincare. One should avoid going
out in the sun after putting essential
oil of orange as any exposure to the
sun may cause skin pigmentation.
Rosemary oil: Rosemary's essential
oil is found very effective for arthritis,
bronchitis, burns, colds, dandruff and
skincare. Rosemary's aroma has a
placid effect on the nervous system
and brings clarity of thought.
Whether or not we notice it, scent

With this guide, we hope you reach
your aroma destination...
can lead to sunstroke. The body loses
water to excessive perspiration and if
this is not replenished, the body takes
up water from the blood stream. This
has an impact n the heart and brain.
The effects are so pronounced
that the person may fall down, feel
dizzy, suffer low blood pressure and
become unconscious. This happens
as there is an imbalance in the fluids
of the body and the body's cooling
effect gets affected.
Dr Nair continues, “For those
living in tropical regions, where the
temperature shoots up, should have a
proper food and liquid intake. He or
she should avoid going out in the
sun, especially in the afternoon, and
if it's really necessary, then one
should carry an umbrella or wear a
cap. One should consume various
fruits which contain fluids or keep
themselves hydrated by consuming
liquids. Also, intake of water should
be in good. One should also make
sure they have sufficient salt intake
as when we sweat, salt is released
from our body. One can have lime
juice for this. Even the blood
pressure should be checked time to
time and accordingly, one should
consume salt.”
Many times a person is
hospitalised due to sunstroke and is
given intravenous fluids to balance
the fluids. Other treatments include
sponging, or administering
neuroclin.
How many sessions required for LHR?
Hair grows in several phases (anagen, telogen, catagen) and a laser can only
affect the currently active growing hair follicles (early anagen). Hence, several
sessions are needed to kill hair in all phases of growth. So an average 6 to 10
sessions are needed for complete LHR. The number of sessions depends on
various parameters, including the area of the body being treated, skin colour,
coarseness of hair, reason for hirsutism, and sex.
How safe is this Procedure and any side effects?
Nowadays LHR is quite a safe cosmetic procedures if proper laser
technology and an experienced hands are used and also relatively painless. In
our centre we US F.D.A approved state of the art technology for painless hair
removal. Some normal and rare side effects may occur after laser hair removal
treatments, including itching, pink skin, redness, and swelling around the
treatment area or swelling of the follicles. These side effects rarely last for a
day or two.
Who all can undergo LHR and who is the ideal person?.
Coarse dark hair on light skin is easiest and ideal person to treat. Certain
areas (notably men's faces) may require considerably more treatments to
achieve desired results. Laser does not work well on light-colored hair,
bleached hair, red hair, grey hair, white hair, as well as fine hair (vellus) of any
color. For darker skin type, we can use laser with lower energy so as to avoid
any hyperpigmention after the treatment.
Way to get a flat stomach
Eat often: Instead of three large meals that
can fill your belly and tax your digestive
system, eat small, frequent meals or snacks.
Eat your meals about two to three hours
apart; they'll take up less space in your
stomach, cause less expansion, keep your
metabolism up and keep you feeling full.
Reduce intake of high-fiber foods: Many
high fiber foods--broccoli, beans, Brussels
sprouts, cauliflower--cause gas and bloating.
Eliminate them from your diet during this
week. When the week is over, gradually add
them back one at a time. You might find that
some bother your stomach more than
others, and you can adjust your diet accordingly to get your fiber and keep your
stomach flat.
Adjust fruit and veggie portions: While raw vegetables and fruits are great
choices for overall health, they cause your stomach to stretch, so it's best to eat
them in smaller portions spread throughout the day.
Check for a lactose intolerance: If dairy products cause uncomfortable gas
and bloating, you may have difficulty digesting lactose, the sugar found in dairy.
Try eating low-lactose foods such as yogurt, consume only small amounts of milk
products at one time and eat them with other foods. You can also buy lactosefree products or take a digestive aid such as Lactaid to help break down the
lactose in your digestive tract.
Shake on the sea salt: The culprit making your tummy bloat could be the salt
in your diet. Use natural sea salt or kosher salt, which is lower in sodium teaspoon
for teaspoon than traditional table salts. And stay away from soy sauce: Even
low-sodium soy sauce is still high in sodium and will cause practically instant
bloating. Instead, flavour your food with a little fresh tomato salsa or a hint of
cayenne pepper, which has an added benefit of boosting metabolism.
Punch it out and lose 2 inches fast: Add boxing to your cardio routine. When
you throw punches with weights or at a fast pace, you're working your core in a
way that helps to flatten your midsection. You must engage your core to throw
punches, and twisting your torso works all the ab muscles. Add 16 minutes of
boxing three times a week to your regular cardio routine (30 minutes at high
intensity four to five times a week), and you can lose up to 2 inches from your
waist in four weeks.
Put crunches last on your flat-belly list (for real!): Diet first, Cardio

day three times a week doing abs exercises."

INNER PEACE
the way to bliss!
ANGER
I am afraid of anger
I have no right to be angry
Anger is bad
I won't be loved if I get angry
My parents won't allow me to
express anger
I have never been angry
If I get angry I will hurt someone
Do you recognise any of these
feelings? Anger may be one of your
biggest barriers. It is a normal and
natural emotion. Babies get furious,
express their fury and then its over
and they are smiling again. Many of us
have learnt that its not nice, or polite,
or acceptable for us to be angry. If you
get angry than you are a bad person.
We learn to reject ourselves when we
are angry. We learn to swallow our
angry feelings, still these feelings do
have energy, which takes over our
authentic self. They settle in our
bodies, in the joints and muscles.
They accumulate and become
resentment. Layer upon layer of
buried anger turned into resentment
can contribute to diseases like
arthritis, assorted pains, and even
cancer.
We need to acknowledge all our
feelings including anger, and find
positive ways to express these
feelings. We don't have to hit people
or dump on them, yet we can clearly
say, “This makes me angry” or “I am
angry at what you did.” If it's not
appropriate to say these, we still have
many options: We can scream into a
pillow. Beat the bed. Kick pillows,
scream at the beach in front of the
ocean. These are healthy outlets. To
remain healthy and in love with
ourselves we need to release this
energy in a healthy way.
Releasing your anger in the
positive way doesn't mean you are
being a bad person, or you are trying
to hurt another. It just means you are
releasing the anger energy from your
system and body so it's not stored
there. A quick and simple thing to do
when you are overwhelmed with your
feeling is to jump up and down. If you
have lot of buried anger, you may be a
person who walks around being angry
all the time. The anger is smouldering
just under the surface. The smallest
thing will set it off. You may not
express this anger, but mutter under
your breath and have lots of
resentment, judgemental thoughts.
You may be a person who criticises
everyone around you. And if you do,
you will certainly criticise yourself, too.
Ask yourself - Are you willing to
release this anger? The bottom line is
everyone who is angry just wants love

and approval. We all seek love and
approval. That's what we want from
everyone, and that's what everyone
wants from us. Love and approval
brings harmony into our lives. In order
to be free, we need to release the old
ties that bind us.
A powerful exercise is to look into
the mirror and affirm: I am willing to
release the need to be an angry
person, and notice if you really willing
to let go or do you still want to hang
out on to the past. You can even start
to practice to change the above
thoughts into a positive one, which
helps you to support yourself and love
yourself.
I acknowledge all my feelings, it is
safe for me to recognise my anger.
All my emotions are acceptable.
Anger is normal and natural.
The more honest I am the more I
am loved.
I move beyond my parents
limitations.
Healthy expression of anger keeps
me healthy.
Everyone is safe with me when I
express my emotions.
SUNGLASSES FOR VARIOUS FACE
TYPES:
• Heart shaped face: A pair of aviators will
do wonders. You can also try Wayfarers,
which suits most face shapes.

square shape sunglasses; it helps your
face look long and thinner.
• Oval shaped face: You are lucky enough
as most of the shapes work in your
favour. A pair of cat eyes glasses or
Wayfarers can enhance your look.
• Square shaped face: You can try round

People are becoming increasingly careful about the damage the
harmful rays of the sun may cause. They are becoming more
conscious of its negative effects. People want to protect
themselves but at the same time want to do it in a very cool way.
So this time, we get you information on some cool, funky and
trendy glares for the summer.
There are various kinds of shades in the market like aviators,
cat eye, round, etc. However, the shades that are in vogue are
those of mercury finish. There is a huge demand for glares the
whole year round but the demand increases during the summer
season. Both males and females buy them in huge numbers.
“The glares which are sold on the roads are cheap but they are
not of any help. They don't protect the eyes from the harmful
ultraviolet rays and now slowly, people are realising that. They
now prefer buying sunglasses from shops,” says Aizaz Halai of
Spectacle shop.
The price of the glares differs according to the brand and
quality. There are 'high end' or 'premium' brands, 'medium' brands
and then 'value for' brands.
The brands which fall under 'premium' brands are Gucci,
Armani, Prada, Versace, etc which costs around Rs.10,000 and
above. The 'medium' brands are Tommy, Gas, Ray Ban etc which
costs around Rs.5,000 and above. The 'value for money' brands
are Polo, Ride, Vintage etc, which are comparatively affordable,
costing around Rs.2000 to Rs.3000.
Nishit Gandhi, a student from Mithibai College says, “I prefer
buying the 'value for money' range of shades. They are affordable
and look stylish as well. In this way, I can buy more than one pair
of glares with my friends. My personal favourite right now are the
mercury ones. They look super cool.”
So this is the time to choose some cool and trendy glares for
yourself and stay stylish!
Quick steps for
Animal design nail art
Prep your nails: Remove any existing nail polish with a
cotton ball and nail polish remover. Trim your nails to
the desired length, and buff the surface of each nail
using a nail buffer. This will help hold the color for
longer.
Apply two coats of base color: You can use cream,
beige, or gold nail polish as the base. Brush the color in
a thin layer from the cuticle to the tip of each nail,
working your way from the middle of your nail to the
outer sides.
Allow your nails to dry completely before continuing.
Set up your palette: Dab a few drops of brown and
black nail polish onto the index card (keeping the colors
separate) so that you can easily dip the toothpick into
them. Use medium or dark brown polish.
Dip a toothpick into the brown polish: Use the
toothpick to draw small dots on each nail, creating a
polka dotted effect. Make sure to leave enough empty
space between each dot so that you can still see the
base color. Wipe the brown polish off the toothpick
when you are done.
Dip the toothpick into the black polish, and use it to
create a black border around each dot: The borders
shouldn't be perfect circles. Make them slightly boxy
and squiggly, and leave some gaps in each border to
achieve the cheetah print look.
Allow your nails to dry completely: Finish with a clear
top coat to preserve the color for longer.
Remove any nail polish from your skin using nail
polish remover and a cotton swab.

The great American breakfast
Pancakes;
Ananya Banerjee
Waffles;
Fried chicken;
Biscuits (mind you these are not the biscuits what we eat
with our tea but more like buttermilk scones - tastes
divine with melted butter true home style comfort food);
Grits;
Dumplings and
Sausages.
Having lived in Europe for several years I was used
to having waffles with whipped cream/ ice-cream
/strawberries or a simple dusting of powdered sugar.
But in America , waffles are served with fried
chicken. The Americans have a unique way of
combining sweet with savory. Another example of
mixing sweet and savory is serving barbecue / brisket / ribs with sweet corn
bread.
During my visit to Ithaca, last month, we decided to go for an all -american
breakfast/brunch on a Sunday morning. Decided on a popular restaurant chain
called 'Cracker Barrel' for brunch. Every Cracker Barrel chain has an
interesting souvenir store attached to their restaurant, selling kitschy-kitchen
related and home decorative articles. The decor of the restaurant has an old
world charm with a fireplace, old photographs, antics and knickknacks, giving
it a retro look. Ordered buttermilk pancakes with homemade white butter and
syrup, fried eggs and bacon, smoky sausages, Sunday special fried chicken, a
side of mac and cheese and freshly baked buttermilk biscuits with freshly
brewed house coffee. That indeed was a scrumptious breakfast! The pancakes
were superbly done - soft and melting inside, lacy at the edges. With a dollop of
homemade butter and a dredging of accompanying syrup on the pancakes
transported me straight to food heaven. The crisp bacon with fried eggs were
good, the sausages were smoky and flavourful. The mac and cheese was
comforting and the biscuits were straight out of the oven.
Overall a wonderful experience! Now I know the value of the saying "eat
Breakfast like a king ." I am already getting pancake dreams and I am going
back for another helping of their buttermilk pancakes really very soon!

The Gangubai Affair
At a time when Karim Lala was lording over the city, Central Mumbai district
of Kamathipura was famous as a prostitution hub. A gusty lady popularly
known as Gangubai was the uncrowned queen of the sex trade. She owned
several buildings known as 'kothas' in those days and she also travelled in a
chauffeur driven car.
When the local government authorities decided to shift prostitutes from the
area, Gangubai took strong objection and even wrote a letter to the then prime
minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru mentioning the plight of hapless sex
workers. She was given an appointment by the prime minister and she went all
the way New Delhi. She finally succeeded in retaining the sex trade at
Kamathipura only.
Thereafter Gangubai started living with another 'Kothewali' called Sheela. One
fine night a burly Pathan entered Sheela's house and brutally raped Gangubai
in the presence of all other girls in the house. No one around intervened as they
all were scared of the Pathan. She was so badly injured that she could not return
to work for several weeks. After a month and a half later the Pathan arrived at
her house and raped her once again. She had to be hospitalised after the
incident.
Through inquiries with local people Gangubai found out that the Pathan's
name was Shaukat Khan and he was somehow associated with Karim Lala.
Gangubai also came to know that the don Karim Lala always held women in
high esteem. She made up her mind and decided to meet the don himself.
One fine day when Karim Lala was returning to his Tahir Manzil home near
Lamington Road, Gangubai stopped his car and begged for help. Karim Lala
felt embarrassment while talking to a strange woman right on the road. Karim
Lala requested her to come to his nearby house to discuss her problem. Once at
home Karim Lala offered tea and snacks to Gangubai and listened to her
ordeal. Gangubai narrated how she suffered at the hands of Shaukat Khan. She
begged of Karim Lala that if he helped her in the matter she would remain
obliged forever.
Karim lala assured her full help asked her to inform him the next time Shaukat
Khan visited her place. He further advised Gangubai to keep Shaukat Khan
waiting till the time the help reached. Shaukat arrived after three weeks and
Gangubai instantly informed Karim Lala. Gangubai behaved nicely with

Whose choice is it anyway?
Deepika Padukone is out all guns blazing in the
news. This time with a video on feminism. While
almost everyone has given their views on the content
of the video, I would like to first focus upon its intent.
I am not sure who the target audience
of this video is. Is it for the readers of
Vogue magazine or for the users of
Vogue Fashion brand? The video
showcases some impeccable English, a
rich vocabulary made in the most elite
manner with some beautiful technique
and effects. They took all the
ingredients that could together make
the perfect cocktail to excite the very
people who would subscribe to the
magazine- Educated and rich Indians
active on social media who feel deeply
about their individualism and sense of
freedom. Nonetheless, the women
who really need to be empowered may
not even understand her language and
expression.
It has not been many days since the
BBC documentary that was released
created a furore amongst mainly the
upper class Indians. The anger was
palpable and the issue of feminism
never had taken such a centre stage. It
managed to garner the attention of
everyone who felt some sort of an
emotion when the BBC documentary
was released. Consequently, Deepika's
video focuses on certain issues
defining women, primarily because
these are the things that have been in
limelight. From rapes, barbaric acts of
violence to eve teasing, women have
been treated unfairly time to time.
Thus, the video is like a sine curve on
the axes of positivity and negativity. A
fine line...that should've been made
clearer to the public. On the face of it,
In 1987, Abdul Gaffar Khan aka Badshah Khan aka Frontier Gandhi was
suffering severe illness. He was earlier admitted into the Lady Reading
hospital in Peshawar, Pakistan but at the invitation of Indian Government, he
was shifted to Delhi's AIIMS Hospital. He landed at Palam Airport with a
small bag in his hand and was received by Afghanistan's diplomatic personnel
and the underworld don Karim Lala. A few days later Khan was shifted to
Mumbai's Jaslok Hospital. When the then prime-minister Indira Gandhi came
to visit Badshah Khan she too was received by Karim Lala at the airport and
accompanied her to the Jaslok Hospital. During that time, Bollywood actor Dr.
Harendranath Chattopadhya was awarded with Padmavibhushan and he
invited his close friend Karim Lala to Delhi for celebrations. The bash was
held a five star hotel where Karim Lala got himself photographed with Indira
Gandhi. During his treatment, Badshah Khan was also awarded with Bharat
Ratna. After the treatment, the Frontier Gandhi was sent back to Pakistan
where after a few days he died in a Peshawar hospital.

Dear Editor,
Your front-page report in which you
have mentioned how our BMC
works to impress big shots is
actually true. I think in our system,
only these artificial tactics work.
And this is such stupid thing that
they are making footpaths for
someone who is not even going to
use it. Our authorities only give
importance to the rich and
powerful. No one cares about the
common man, who actually suffers
when the BMC doesn't work.

Dear Editor
I am really fond of Manish Goel.
He is my favourite actor and I was
so happy to see his profile in your
paper. I got to know so much more
about him. The picture of him is so
cute and adorable, I loved it. I wish
the interview was longer. Thank
you so much Mumbai Messenger,
because of you I got another article
to add to my collection.

Dear Editor
The Health and Fitness page is so
beneficial for people and its good
that you focus on it. I read your last
issue wherein you had put an article
on Flu. I was happy to read it as
this has been a regular thing in my
house. Everyone in my family is
getting Flu. I tried medicines but
nothing worked. I didn't know
about any home remedies, which
are very beneficial and effective.
Thanks to you Mumbai Messenger.

Dear Editor
I have been following your
Lifestyle page regularly and I was
surprised to see an article on music.
It was the first time that your paper
published an article on this topic. I
would request you to have more
such articles, which everyone can
connect to.
Regards,
Sneha Shinde
right throughout, all of that she chose
to say that are her choices, are indeed
her choices. They are obvious things the sexual urges, sexual orientation,
relationships are one's choices – not
being imposed on her or on anybody
else. Some lines touched my heart
while others made me question the
'women empowerment' being
presented.
By large, the idea of 'women's
empowerment' did seem slightly
distorted. A lot of women reinforce the
concept of feminism and
empowerment in various ways on a
daily basis. A woman in armed forces;
a woman working in male dominated
projects in IT Companies; a woman
who comes to town from village to sell
vegetables; a teacher going out to
teach good values and inspire
students; a woman who chooses to go
to foreign countries for education; a
woman who can exercise her choice to
marry who she wants to; even a
housewife who rears her children to
make them good citizens and knows
her rights; are all empowered women.
In short, any woman who is mentally
strong, financially independent, knows
her power as to what she can do is an
empowered woman.
All in all, though the video could do
with a bit more clarity, all I want to
affirm is 99 airbrushed women, straight
out of salon do not represent the
women in India. The working woman
who struggles to manage both her
career and her family does. The girl
who is not allowed to study because of
her gender does. The girl who is eve
teased everyday does. The baby who is
killed before she is even born does.
They are the ones who need
empowerment. They are the ones who
need a choice. A choice to be born, to
be independent, to be safe. But
businesswise, it’s a good attempt by
Vogue to touch the teenagers’ nerves
at the right places (may be?). It’s
obvious that it’s an attempt by Vogue
to maintain or manage their brand by
positioning themselves as a magazine
empowering women and not one that
sells vanity. And going by the
responses, looks like they achieved it.
Dear Editor
There are so many pictures in the
paper, which is very appealing to
the eye, especially the photo
feature. It is one of my favourite
pages. The photographers are doing
a great job. I would love to see
more pictures. I will be waiting for
the upcoming issue for some
amazing photographs.

Dear Editor
I just gave my 12th exams and I
was planning my future when my
mom came across this article on
Hotel Management. I got to know
so much more about this career
which I wasn't aware of. It even
made me realize that I need to talk
to a career counsellor to help
myself. If possible, please have
more stories on the various careers
that one can opt for after the 12th as
it will help many students like me to
choose a path suitable for them.

Vaastu tips for
budding Actors and
Artists
Upcoming actors and artists are usually tensed due to their hectic schedule and
uncertainty in their career. Most of them look for spiritual, astrological and
Vaastu advices.
Basannt R. Rasiwasia fondly known as Basannt Ji is a renowned Vaastu
expert in the country to whom the actors and artists turn to for help. Basannt Ji
has been instrumental in offering his advice to prominent personalities, wellknown industrialists, builders, business houses over a decade and has several
accolades to his credit.
Says Ajaz Khan, the second runner up in the Bigg Boss Season 7, “I believe
only in Allah and I will continue to do so come what may. But, after meeting
Basannt Ji, I felt one must meet him once at least and listen to his advices.”
“Frankly speaking, it really helped and there is no harm in following his
advices,” he adds. Says Basannt Ji, “I would suggest whose moon's position
and Venus position is active in Horoscope chart than the chance of getting
success more in the entertainment industry.”
Here are few tips to enlighten the actors'/artists life according to Basanntji:
People born on 1,2,5,6,7 and 9 dates get faster results compared to other
birth dates in that field. I suggest people who were born on 2 and 7 should use
Northwest exit. People born on 6 and 9 can have a Southern exit. People born
on 1and 3 can use Eastern and North Eastern exit and those who were born on 4
and 8 can have Western exit.
Water bodies are good for them in North and North-West direction which
will give better results. Bedroom is an important part for everybody especially
for the upcoming actors, actresses and artist. I feel the use of bedroom in South
Eastern direction which is ruled by Venus and putting head in Eastern direction
which enhances the ability and creativity.
Make bedroom in the North-West direction which is ruled by Moon and
make the store room in South-West Zone. Avoid toilets in extreme North East
corner and at the Centre of the house.
Use of colours also plays an important role especially for the upcoming
actors, actresses and artist. Preferably use Green, Pearl and White colours.
Avoid the usage of Black in these recommended bedrooms. Use of decorated
horse painting in Northern wall is recommended.
Fragrance in the house attracts pleasant and calm thoughts which allow
positive energy in the house.

Move beyond the ordinary with Philips
Ambilight 4K Ultra HD LED TV in India
Setting a new
milestone in the
evolution of Ultra
HD television in the
c o u n t r y, P E
Electronics, official
brand license
partner of Philips
for India, has
launched the first 4K Ultra HD television range featuring
Ambilight technology. The consumers will now experience a
technology which will change the way consumers view
televisions in India. On the occasion of the launch,
celebrities like Soha Ali Khan, Kunal Kemmu, Rannvijay
Singha and Atul Kasbekar were present to share their firsthand experience of using this milestone product.
Ambilight is ambient lighting, a patented technology
exclusive for Philips TV's. It breaks the conventional norms
of TV viewing, beyond the usual four boundaries of a
television. Ambilight technology projects light from the
back panel of the television, corresponding to the content
being played. This projected light is dynamic and changes
according to the content. Ambilight gives you the most
immersive viewing experience. Further, it reduces the strain
on your eyes during long viewing hours.
Neeraj Sethi, Chief Executive Officer, PE Electronics Ltd,
said, “We are excited to be the first in this category to
introduce India to the revolutionary technology of UHD TV
with Ambilight which will change the way consumers view
television in the country. It will be an unforgettable and
thrilling experience that will linger in the hearts and minds
of the consumer for long time to come. We are confident
that this product driven by its pure technology will push the
existing boundaries of the television industry.”

Indian Film Actress
PISCES (Feb 19 – Mar
20): A sudden upsurge in
your intuition could have
you feeling more in tune to the
thoughts, feelings, and desires of
others. Your communication is
going to be clear and open as a
result. You're likely to grow closer
to everyone dear to you, especially
your romantic partner. Don't
expect everything you pick up to
be positive. Others might have
issues.
ARIES (March 21 to April
20): An intellectual
problem may prove
confusing. You might also hear
some gossip that doesn't seem
right. This isn't the day to believe
everything you read or hear or to
try to make sense of anything that
has you befuddled. You will be in a
better space later. Put it aside for a
few days and then tackle it.
TAURUS (Apr 20 – May
20): Confusion about
money might be on your
mind. This doesn't necessarily
mean that your finances are in
chaos. Chances are that you face
unfamiliar options concerning your
financial future, and so you may be
in no position to make any kind of
decision. It would be best if you
waited until you're a bit more
focused to consider your options.
GEMINI (May 21 – Jun
20) : Some strange
dreams could stimulate
your imagination and start you on
new avenues of exploration. You
might at some point play detective.
What you seek is likely to be within
your psyche. Don't be surprised if
you learn new things about
yourself that you hadn't been
aware of before. You could also
find your psychic faculties
increasing as days pass.
CANCER (Jun 21 – Jul
22): You might be feeling
somewhat under the
weather. You're probably stressed
and in need of rest. Work concerns
could also be confusing. You might
have a lot of tasks to do and not be
certain where to start. You need to
take time off to rest for a while and
then tackle it later when you're
feeling like yourself again.
LEO (Jul 23 – Aug 22):
Recent successes have
you feeling especially
pressured to continue on your
path. You may have to make some
choices regarding your activities
outside of career and family. You
may have a lot of interests that all
mean a lot to you, which makes it
difficult to make choices. Don't try
to consider it now. Wait till your
mind is stable.
VIRGO (Aug 23 – Sep 22)
Increased communication
with a close friend or
lover, more on a subtle than verbal
level, could bring you closer and
enrich your relationship.Quiet time
spend together could generate a
new sense of closeness. Images
and ideas that come from deep
within you can contribute to your
creative self-expression. Write
down any insights so you can refer
to them later.
LIBRA (Sep 23 – Oct 22):
Travel plans might have
you confused. You may
have a number of possibilities in
mind, and all seem equally
attractive. It probably isn't feasible
to go for them all. You may also
face decisions regarding your
education. You're probably going
to have to make a decision.
Confusion is likely to reign. Wait a
few days and then consider your
options.
SCORPIO (Oct 23 – Nov
21): New earning or
investment possibilities
could have you in a quandary over
which one is the best for you.
There are a number of solutions technology may be one of them but this isn't the time to make any
important decisions, as everything
may seem equally attractive.
Professional advice might help, but
don't make a decision right away.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov 22
– Dec 21): Your life may
seem to be at a
crossroads. A number of different
possibilities could be opening up to
you. The only thing that seems
certain now is that changes are on
the horizon. You will be facing
some choices, but today isn't the
day to consider them. Confusion
reigns supreme. You will be
focused and less doubtful by then.
CAPRICORN (Dec 22 –
Jan 19): Others' attitudes
toward you may seem to
be changing. You may not be sure
what this means. The fact is,
you're changing, and some of your
friends may like what you're
becoming and others may feel less
comfortable. It's going to be a
positive process in the long run but
it may be difficult for now. Bear
with your friends.
AQUARIUS (Jan 20 –
Feb 18) : Your mind may
turn toward deep
subjects. You could explore the
sciences, psychology, the occult, or
metaphysics. You will probably
discover some new facts or ideas
that could keep your mind
occupied. You will spend much of
your time alone exploring these
themes. You might also want to
write down your insights and
revelations to study later.
