DR. ARSALLA ISLAM HELPS PATIENTS RESTORE THEIR HEALTH AND
START NEW BEGINNINGS
By Anna Charles
Dr. Arsalla Islam wanted a career where she could change lives. After
seeing her older sister help people through personalized medicine, she
tossed out the idea of pursuing a degree in engineering and focused on
becoming a physician. Today, Dr. Islam is living her dream. Armed
with a dual fellowship in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery, and
in vascular and endovascular surgery, she offers life-changing services
to improve the health and lives of her patients.
NEW ALLIANCE OFFICE, CONVENIENT LOCATION
Luckily, for those who live or work in the North Ft. Worth/Keller
Alliance area, Dr. Islam is also passionate about helping people in her
community. With a state-of-the-art practice located on Heritage Trace
Parkway, she brings her remarkable skills and expertise directly to the
place she calls home.
“I especially enjoy giving back to the community, and give seminars at
local schools to teach kids how to eat healthfully and stay active. I
want to help them avoid the diseases many adults struggle with today
due to diet and lifestyle choices,” Dr. Islam said.
GIVING PATIENTS A FIGHTING CHANCE TO BEAT OBESITY
Dr. Islam provides a hands-on, personalized approach to medicine and
patient care. Her wide range of expertise includes gallbladder removal
and hernia repair, carotid surgery, endovascular and open surgical
treatment for upper extremity, abdominal, lower extremity vessels,
and much more. She is especially committed to helping people
overcome obesity. As a bariatric surgeon, she takes pride in giving
patients the time, respect, and care they deserve, forming a real bond
and collaborative partnership with them.
One of only a few female bariatric surgeons in the Metroplex, Dr. Islam
is considered an expert in the field. She was an Assistant Professor
and Director of Bariatrics and Assistant Program Director for the
laparoscopic and bariatric fellowship program at UT Southwestern
Medical Center in Dallas. She performs a full suite of minimally
invasive procedures, including gastric band, gastric sleeve, gastric
bypass (Roux-en-Y), and revision surgery. All are designed to help you
reduce food intake so you can finally lose weight and regain control of
your health.
“What’s most rewarding for me as a doctor, is to see patients lose
weight, get back to a normal life, and get off medication for conditions
such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and high cholesterol,”
Dr. Islam said.
TREATING BOTH OBESITY AND VASCULAR CONDITIONS
The correlation between obesity and vascular disease is welldocumented, and Dr. Islam says she frequently sees patients who
suffer from both.
“Overweight patients also tend to have varicose veins or venous
insufficiency, and battle conditions such as diabetic vascular disease,”
she stated. “I often help patients suffering from obesity with both
bariatric surgery and vascular care. If someone comes in for vascular
surgery and they are obese, I help them understand how the two are
intertwined.”
