Student Teaching College Supervisor
In Broad Field Social Studies: History and
Economics

Job Responsibilities:
Supervisors will work closely with the student teachers, cooperating teachers, and other
members of the student teachers team.
Supervisors will observe, mentor, provide feedback, encourage reflective practice, and help to
establish goals. This formal evaluation will take place a minimum of 4 visits per semester for
each student teacher candidate.
Supervisors will provide oral and written feedback on observed lessons to candidates and
submit observations and final evaluations to Edgewood College with recommendation of
licensing based on WDPI Teacher InTASC Standards.
Supervisors will attend supervisor meetings, student dinners, and initiate introductory meetings
with cooperating teachers and student teachers. They will coordinate two in-person conferences
with each student teacher and cooperating teacher.
Be willing to travel outside of Dane County.
Qualifications, Required Knowledge and Skills:
1. Masters degree in Secondary BF:SS - History and Economics, Curriculum and Instruction, or
degree in related field.
2. Current WDPI Secondary BF:SS – History and Economics License
3. At least three years of 6-12 teaching experience in social studies. Public school teaching
preferred.
4. K-12 leadership experience involving curriculum planning, professional development, and/
or curriculum assessment.
5. Experience teaching adult learners.
6. Experience as a cooperating teacher for student teachers in social studies.
7. Mentoring first year teachers.
Successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion,
and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment, and must be willing to
contribute to the College’s strategic plan of inclusion.
