Alpha Gamma Phi Alumni Newsletter Gammas, This newsletter asks for your help! And I really mean it. We need your help to restore Clarion athletics to past glories. I doubt if there is anyone who would debate the positive impact athletics has on university morale, student enrollment and alumni contributions. Athletics is a critical component to the success of Clarion University. In addition to recruiting high quality student athletes we must tell the public, our government and mostly our students and potential applicants about the success of Clarion University athletics. No one has performed the function of promoting Clarion athletics better than College Sports Information Director of America (CoSIDA) Hall of Fame inductee Rich Herman. To continue the success of Clarion’s new intercollegiate athletics plan as recommended by the Intercollegiate Athletics Task force and adopted by President Karen Whitney, see highlights on Page 6 of the Spring 2015 Clarion Magazine, Clarion needs the proven performance of Rich Herman. However, Rich is being asked to retire but really doesn’t want retirement. We support his desire to remain and we support his decision to remain Clarion’s Sports Director. I am asking, really asking, you to take the time to email or write President Karen Whitney asking her to retain Richard Herman as Clarion Sports Director. As talking points, I believe we need to state sports is vital to Clarion’s image and enrollment and we need to keep the people that have demonstrated excellence in doing their jobs as well as promoting Clarion. There is no doubt that Rich Herman is a prime example of the type of person that meets this criteria. President Whitney’s email address is [email protected]. As you know Clarion University’s existence is challenged and we can’t afford to let good dedicated people leave now when they are most needed. If you believe in Clarion now is the time for you to take action. Support Rich Herman. Time is critical – send the email or letter to President Whitney today!!
