While on active duty, he earned his master’s degree in space physics and his Ph.D. in nuclear physics from the Air Force Institute of Technology. His Air Force duties carried him to Ohio, Colorado, Florida, Alabama, and Washington, D.C. After leaving the Air Force, he joined the faculty at Auburn University, Alabama.
