HOSPITAL PATIENT SAFETY COMPARISON REPORT Leapfrog Hospital Survey www.leapfroggroup.org/cp / Refreshed Dec. 31, 2014 VBCH is Virginia’s lead agency for The Leapfrog Group (Leapfrog), the USA’s top independent organization for evaluating hospitals, hospital safety, and prevention of hospital errors. VBCH commends Virginia hospitals for their patient safety 'transparency' and efforts to towards fully meeting the Leapfrog leaps and standards. Hospital Safety Score www.hospitalsafetyscore.org / Refreshed Spring 2015 Leapfrog’s Hospital Safety Score awards hospitals grades of “A” through “F.” Virginia Ranks 3rd in the U.S. for the percentage of "A" grades in the nation. Early Elective Deliveries www.leapfroggroup.org/cp / Refreshed March 2014 Early elective deliveries — inductions or cesarean procedures performed prior to 39 completed weeks gestation without medical necessity — carry risks to babies and mothers. They can also result in NICU admissions, increased length of stay, and higher costs to patients and payers.
