The Victorian Guest House is a very prominent marker of Nappanee history going back to 1887 when Frank Coppes built the home. According to the home’s history, it took five years to build the home at a cost of $8000.00. Amazing! The home’s construction boasts of Frank’s expert craftsmanship from the extensive wood paneling, stained glass windows to the hardwood floors. The Victorian has been a bed and breakfast for approximately 29 years. I have been at the home for eight years. I came to Nappanee looking for a small business to purchase that matched my personality. Serving others through the Guest House has done just that! I enjoy meeting people from all over the world – Russia, Italy, Germany, Netherlands, Australia, China and Japan are just a few of the countries represented by my guests! Not only do I have bed and breakfast guests, but I have retreats; quilting, scrapbooking, knitting, family and groups here often. Quilt retreats are my favorite as I am an addicted and “don’t-want-to-be-cured” quilter myself! I love Nappanee! I love our ‘embrace the pace’ motto! I also enjoy living in a community where prayer is still offered in the business, professional and school settings! I enjoy worshiping at Nappanee Missionary Church. I plan on continuing the tradition of innkeeping at the Victorian for as long as the good Lord allows me to; providing gracious hospitality to those who enter in. “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” Colossians 3:17 Page 4 Volume 5 Issue 4 Page 5 Page 6 April 3 April 4 April 11 April 16-18 April 16 April 17 April 17-18 April 18 May 7 May 9 May 18 May 25 May 30-Oct 1 June 13 June 16 July 9-11 July 11 Aug 6-9 Aug 8 Aug 20 Sep 7 Sep 12 Sep 17-20 Oct 3 Oct 10 Nov 2 Nov 11 Nov 14 Nov 21 Nov 22 Nov 26 Nov 27 Nov 28 Dec 11 Dec 12 Dec 24 Dec 25 Dec 31 Good Friday - Chamber and City Offices Closed Rotary Easter Egg Hunt 9:00 am Callander Sports Complex 2nd Saturday / Dog Park Clean Up Day 2-4 pm Solar Energy Open House & Seminar New Candidates Forum at Dal-Mar Banquet Hall 7:00 pm Business before Hours 8:30 am at Coppes Commons Spring Into Art ~ NPL event at Coppes Commons Dog Park-Nelson’s fundraiser 10 am-3 pm Rite Choice Lot Historic Preservation Awards 7:00 pm 2nd Saturday / Spring Diesel Truck Jamboree Hoosier Hospitality Training at The Nappanee Center Memorial Day - Chamber and City Offices Closed Quilt Garden 2nd Saturday / Tractor Cruise In at Coppes Commons 12th Annual Joint Chamber Golf Outing Embrace the Pace Days 2nd Saturday / Fireman’s Fish Fry 53rd Annual Amish Acres Arts & Crafts Festival 2nd Saturday / 8th Annual School Supply Daze FCDC Come to the Table dinner auction at The Pond Hoosier Hospitality Training at The Nappanee Center Labor Day - Chamber and City Offices Closed 2nd Saturday / Apple Festival Tractor Pull 40th Annual Apple Festival Quilt Auction for “A Quilt for Mother’s Tears” at Amish Acres 2nd Saturday / Hoosier Cabinet Days Dog Park Howl-O-Ween Open House 3-5 pm Hoosier Hospitality Training at The Nappanee Center Veteran’s Day - Chamber and City Offices Closed 2nd Saturday / Holiday Craft Bazaar at Coppes Commons 8th Annual Miracle at Main & Market Streets Christmas Parade House of Holly Silent Auction Thanksgiving Day - Chamber and City Offices Closed Chamber and City Offices Closed Small Business Saturday Countryside Nite Out 2nd Saturday / Christmas Open House at Coppes Commons Christmas Eve - Chamber and City Offices Close at Noon Christmas Day - Chamber and City Offices Closed New Year’s Eve - Chamber and City Offices Close at Noon Volume 5 Issue 4 Page 7 Page 8 Volume 5 Issue 4 Page 9 WA-NEE KINDERGARTEN ROUND-UP Kindergarten registration for Wa-Nee elementary students will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2015, from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Nappanee, Wakarusa, and Woodview Elementary Schools.
