SRM has been defined by one professional organization “as a set of principles, processes and tools that assist organizations in the management of supplier relationships to maximize value and minimize risk through the entire supplier relationship cycle”. We will review 3 of the principles of SRM – the “3 Cs: Communication, Collaboration, Commitment” and apply these principles in interactive case studies. 10:15 am–10:45 am Break 10:45 am–11:45 am Virginia ABC Security and Privacy - BYOD Andrea Di Fabio, Norfolk State University This session will identify the basic types of security that are at issue for state governments (i.e. communications security, information security, personal/physical security, etc.) using the particular example of mobile device use by state employees to explore these critical elements. 11:45 am–12:45 pm Piedmont AB Networking Lunch 12:45 pm–2:00 pm Virginia ABC 2nd Cooperative Meeting Prioritize Contracts Lee Johnson, NASPO Honorary Member From the first session, narrow down to at least 5 potential cooperative opportunities. Identify states and members to begin working forming the teams to take them forward. A potential “lead state” is the NASPO member state that accepts responsibility and authority for a cooperative opportunity. A state might have limited staffing flexibility, but real expertise in an area or industry, another state (with more flexibility) might manage participation for a cooperative opportunity, working with the lead state. 2:00 pm-2:15 pm Break 2:15 pm–3:30 pm Piedmont AB Breakout Sessions Topic A: Creative Procurement Learning Jan Hall, Oklahoma 3 Laura Bybee, Oklahoma Do you make presentations on procurement topics that put people to sleep? Do you find yourself at a loss of how to approach a learning objective in a procurement class? Join us for a session on some fun activities for procurement classes and share your ideas with the group. Take home some ideas that you can try right away and make procurement fun to learn. Virginia ABC Topic B: Cost/Price Analysis Panelists: Darryl Mitchell, Georgia Charlene Rendon, Texas Andy Kidd, Tennessee Chris Salita, Tennessee This breakout session will concentrate on strategies for developing Cost Proposals and using Best Practices and Benchmarking in the Analysis stage as a means of facilitating better negotiations and value. Examples of metrics, key considerations, and pricing models for IT and Services Contracts will be used to structure the discussion. 3:30 pm–3:45 pm Break 3:45 pm–5:00 pm Piedmont AB Table Topic Session Contract Administration and Negotiation Moderator: Josh Borden, Georgia Participants will be given a contract/negotiation scenario or topic and discuss how this has been handled or recommendations on how to manage the resulting issues that would arise. This is an opportunity to catch up with your Southern Region procurement colleagues to discuss what’s going on in their state. 6:00 pm Dinner on your own Wednesday, May 20 - Optional Procurement University Training Day – NASPO-funded 8:00 am–9:00 am Piedmont AB Breakfast 9:00 am−4:00 pm Virginia ABC Current Issues in Public Procurement Training This training will explore the pervasiveness of information technology and its implications, innovative technology sourcing, 4 and the expansion of enterprise resource planning systems. Other issues include the streamlining of the procurement process, and vendor protests of contract decisions, as well as the growth of procurement and the changes in the workforce.
