It has been fantastic to see how the students skill set has improved. It is important to remember that the purpose of these lessons is not about distance ability, but about building more and more confidence in children’s ability in and around water. Thank you to ASB for the great provision. Please make sure you get the payment for the lessons to the office ASAP as the school has to pay for it up front. This is to ensure that they are actually eating at morning tea and also to contain the rubbish that seems to be created from morning tea. New staff Provision and blessing on the school There are some students that continue to not have a school hat. Please ensure that your child has their hat, and that it is named. We are a sun smart school and hats are compulsory. Supportive BOT and Proprietors We have had a recent change in the office. Wendy is the only staff member in the office on Wednesdays. In preparation for term 2, please ensure that you have hunted out the winter uniform. The Warehouse in Nelson appear to have good stocks of our uniform. The programme teaches young people first aid, health care and leadership skills, and helps develop confidence in the future leaders of our communities. St John Youth has two levels: Penguins (aged 6 to 8 years) Cadets (aged 9 to 18 years). The St John Youth team in Nelson is holding an open day at Richmond Baptist Church Hall, 123 Salisbury Road, for interested young people and their families. We will have displays of first aid, drill (marching) and some of our other formal activities, as well as a BBQ and coffee cart. Come along on the 21st and meet some of the team and find out how to join our fantastic programme. Table Tennis for beginners. Coaching every Monday afternoon 3:30 – 5pm at Saxton Stadium for students aged 8 years and over. Bats and balls provided, must have non marking shoes or can go bare feet.
