Senior Client Service Officer: Child, Youth and Family Services
Full time: 5 days/ week (38hrs)
Creating Links (N.S.W) Ltd is a not-for profit community organisation that focuses on developing
dynamic, confident and inclusive communities and families. The family services team provides a
wide range of innovative services encompassing case work, group work, advocacy and
advice/support/information to families in the Bankstown LGA.
The Senior Client Service Officer role primarily involves supporting the Team Leader/Manager,
case-management and group work with families who live in the Bankstown area and offering Client
Service Officers with case support and discussion. If you are a passionate person who enjoys
working face-to-face with families from a variety of different cultures and backgrounds
(disadvantaged/vulnerable, isolated, newly arrived etc.) and enjoying bot independent working and
being part of a vibrant team, this job may be suitable for you.
Essential Criteria:
 Tertiary/Diploma qualifications in a social welfare field or equivalent.
 Minimum 2 years’ Experience in case management with vulnerable communities.
 Knowledge of current legislation related to Child Protection Issues.
 Understanding of the needs of socially disadvantaged/vulnerable families.
 Excellent verbal and written communication.
 Experience in statistical data collection and recording
 Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
 Demonstrated group work skills.
 Computer literacy
 Current Driver's Licence and Working with Children’s Check
Desirable Criteria:
 First Aid Certificate.
 Knowledge of current Work Health and Safety Legislation.
 Understanding of social justice issues.
 Fluency in a second relevant community language as well as English.

Senior Client Services Officer
Position Overview

Purpose of Position
The Senior Client Services Officer is responsible for providing casework and group facilitation
to families. Undertake advocacy, information and practical support to families experiencing
situations that impact upon the health, security and development of children. Provide support
to Client Services Officers, facilitate case discussions/reviews and participate in planning and
development of the service.
Key Responsibilities
General










To process referrals to the service according to the Intake procedure.
Inform families of the services provided by Creating Links, their rights and
responsibilities and the availability of other community resources.
To undertake case management in conjunction with Creating Links policies and
procedures on case management.
In conjunction with the client, the Client Services Officer will develop an action plan
containing both short and long term interventions and goals.
Provide support to Client Services Officers, facilitate case reviews and discussions.
Ensure accurate records of all actions, resources and tasks on the Action Plan,
including time frames and support the client to identify strategies and resources to
meet goals.
Participating in program development.
In consultation with the Target groups identify needs and develop, implement and
evaluate appropriate group programs and activities that meet those identified needs.
Assist other team members in conducting group programs.
To undertake responsibility to advocate on behalf of clients with other agencies and
Government Departments to achieve positive outcomes.
Staff- Workplace Practices




Meet regularly with the Family Services Team Leader/ Manager to overview the
position and for supervision.
Participate as a member of the team, to deliver services objectives.
Actively engage in fair and equitable work place practices and behaviours in
accordance with legislative requirements.
To attend relevant training to ensure knowledge is up-to-date.

Communication



Develop and maintain network and collaborative partnerships with key agencies and
community groups.
Develop collaborative relationships and work as part of a team in developing policies,
strategies and tools.
Be responsible for informing families of the services obligations in relation to child
protection, confidentiality and the Privacy Act.
Other Duties


Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety policies and Service
Management Policies of Creating Links.
Perform other duties as required and negotiated with the Executive Manager and /or
the CEO.
