and theatre groups in the city. The current season will include wide range of workshops across Acting,
Art and craft, Communication skills, Magic, Music, Photography, Theatre, Comedy, Dance and much more
helping your kid to spend their vacation in an exciting, fun and creative way
Ms. Deepa Gahlot, Head — Programming, Theatre and Film, NCPA said, “Summer vacations are special
time for children where they can explore and learn new and innovative things. At NCPA, we believe in
introducing kids to various forms of the arts from an early age. Summer Fiesta is one such attempt-- a
festival loaded with fun and learning, workshops and plays. We offer children a platform for
entertainment and expression.”
Every year, NCPA Summer Fiesta has seen an increase in the number and the variety of workshops. This
year, NCPA introduces even more creative avenues for children to engage with. There’s something for
every child starting from the age of 4 years till 18 years, with activities ranging from music, dance and
theatre, to creative writing, puppetry, magic tricks, photography and craft.
This year the festival will include innovative acting workshops like IMPS – Soloist, Acting Shmacting and
SPIT by Silly Point that guarantee laughter and fun while exploring the best elements that make up
comedy, tragedy, horror and melodrama. Participants will have the opportunity to perform on one of
NCPA's stages after the workshop, to showcase the talent they have honed over the two weeks.
Workshops that ensure to bring the creative best out of impressionable young minds include Arts and
Craft – Orient of The Pearl that will introduce Japanese and Chinese art; Puppet Making to learn the
creative art of puppetry; Roar and Draw that will introduce kids to animal inspired artworks and Photo
Framed that will help budding photographers understand the core fundamental concepts of
photography. One of India’s best magicians, Kruti Parekh will personally train kids on how to practice
magic tricks at the A for Abracadabra workshop.
NCPA brings together different strokes of dance forms with the Jhummur Dance from East India and
Animal Gaits in Dance that would introduce the three Indian classical dances hailing from the different
parts of the country. The Magic of Music workshop will aim to introduce the participants to several
different orchestral instruments, and create a relaxed, creative environment for the children to feel
comfortable expressing themselves through music
This year, the fiesta also plans to hone the kids’ communications and public speaking skills. The Big
Debate is a workshop for teens focused on monologue, solo speech and debate. WeKids Radio will create
junior RJs who would be hosting a show on the Radio Performance Day.
Apart from workshops, Summer Fiesta will also stage some most entertaining plays for kids like- Bhim
and Hanuman, A Fairy Tale of Rapunzel, Pai Pai, The Naughtiest Girl in the School, Gulabo Aur Parizaad,
Saraswati’s Way, Magic If!, Taoos Chaman Ki Myna, Growing Up, James Aur Ek Giant Peach, Akbar
Birbal, Nuclear Sher, Keep Calm and #ashtag, Peggy Pane - Oh What a Pain, Island, The Clowns, Objects
In The mirror Are Closer Than They Appear

About the NCPA:
Opening its doors to the world in 1969, the NCPA became the first multi-venue and multi-purpose cultural centre to
be built in South Asia. Vibrant and diverse, the NCPA today is recognized by artistes, patrons and media alike as India’s
premier performing arts institution. The Centre provides a fine showcase for India’s rich performing arts traditions, all
thanks to the institution’s training and research initiatives.
The NCPA presents over 600 events each year across all major art forms, most notably Indian Music, International
Music, Theatre and Film, Dance, and Literature, Visual Arts and Photography. There are Heads of Programming for
each of these art forms who curate innovative events and festivals; representative of everything from classical
to contemporary throughout the year. The NCPA produces its own programmes as well as collaborates with leading
cultural promoters from around the world. NCPA is the only member organisation of the International Music Council
(IMC) from India.
