NCPA Presents Cheer! 2015: 4th Edition of Comedy Extravaganza
3 day festival will premier 6 unique acts, 3 plays and 1 workshop for children

show featuring every genre of comedy existing in the country

Mumbai, May 20 2015: National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA), Mumbai presents the 4th edition of its most
awaited annual comedy theatre festival, NCPA Cheer! 2015 from 5th to 7th June. The three day comic fiesta will premier
six unique acts and three plays. The festival will also host a workshop for children conducted by accomplished
comedian, Anubhav Pal.
Deepa Gahlot, Head – Programming Theatre & Films, NCPA said, “Comedy as a genre has progressed tremendously and
NCPA has always believed in encouraging new and fresh talent. NCPA Cheer being the only comedy theatre festival aims
to promote fresh comedy theatre in the city while maintaining the quality of performances. This edition, Cheer will
present a celebration of comedy, wit and laughter through 6 unique acts & 3 new plays.”
The 4th edition of NCPA Cheer will host a series of acts; Beginning with ‘Versus’, an act presenting a faceoff between a
writer and performer, thought and action, ego and superego presented by Rohan Desai and Adhiraj Singh as they weave
in and out of each other's monologues.
‘Funny Women’ an improve act led by India’s funniest women, Radhika Vaz, Anu Menon & Sonali Thakker will entertain,
enthral and engage the audiences ‘The Indian Comedy Debate’ is a new format debate show, which will discuss hard
hitting issues and delicate concerns, Eg. Who stole Bugs Bunny’s carrots?
‘Homegrown Comedy Supershow’ a tribute show featuring every genre of comedy in India; Stand up, Improv,
Sketches/Videos, Comedy Music and Comic.
‘The Wizard Wars: The Magician vs The Magician’ is a magical comedy presenting a grand magician facing off against a
mind numbing mentalist, as they flabbergast, confuse and amuse the audience.
Watch Sorabh Pant fail to improvise standup suggested by the audience in his popular show, ‘Travelling Pants 2.0’,
returning with brand new content.
Along with a bunch sidesplitting acts the 4th edition of Cheer also showcases three new plays; ‘Charandas Thief!’ a
modern representation of Habib Tanvir's classic, based on the translation by Anjum Katyal about a thief who vows to
never lie and in the process learns the realities of dishonest people. ‘Charge’, is based on an absurd yet hilarious future
where the sky has fallen. The story typically revolves around a couple living in a world reliant on technology. ‘Charge’
explores the human condition and our dependence on technology. ‘Black with Equal’, revived after a decade, is a black
comedy in four scenes, which takes an unsentimental look at contemporary society and delivers a scathing comment on
the human condition.
