The three day festival will premiere some of the best and offbeat plays from Gujarati Theatre. Vasant Natya Utsav will start with Mohan No Masalo - depicting the journey of Gandhi from Mohan to Mahatma. Followed by an entertaining and refreshing mix of plays across genres- Kesariyo Phaagann; Koi Pan Ek Phool Nu Naam Bolo To, Mahanirvan and Saptapadi No Athmo Fero. Vasant Gujarati Natya Utsav not only creates the platform, but also encourages Gujarati Theatre by staging their recent talent and innovative concepts. This edition’s lineup incorporates various genres and we hope that the audiences will enjoy watching it as much as we have enjoyed bringing it together.” The current edition of Vasant Gujarati Natya will showcase plays from renowned productions of the Gujarati Theatre. ‘Mohan no Masalo’, enacted by Pratik Gandhi will show the journey of Gandhi, from the trials and tribulations of a young man – Mohan - to becoming the nation’s leader. ‘Mahanirvan’, is a modern take on funeral rites using traditional musical elements of Gujarati Bhakti Sangeet, Akhyan and Dayro, while telling the story of how a community complies with death. ‘Koi Pan Ek Phool Nu Naam Bolo To’ is a psychological thriller revolving around the essence of the beautiful yet dangerous human mind. ‘Kesariyo Phaagann’, is the love story of an introvert girl, Kesar, with an extrovert boy, Mihir and how she attempts at changing herself in order to achieve her dreams. ‘Saptapadi No Athmo Fero’ examines the seven vows of Hindu marriage and the complexities that arise as a result of the vows being broken. With such exciting line-up of entertaining plays, Vasant Gujarati Natya Utsav is a sure delight for theatre lovers.
