NERD Centre is the premier engineering research and development institution in the country,
coming under purview of Ministry of Housing & Samurdhi and engaged in a variety of intellectually
challenging research projects of National Importance.
Applications are invited from qualified, energetic, proactive and innovative Sri Lankan
professionals for the following posts.

Academic & Professional Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree of 4 years duration in Engineering from a University
recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC) of Sri Lanka OR Associate
member of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka
AND
Corporate Membership (Charter) of a professional body recognized by the Institute
of Engineers, Sri Lanka OR Postgraduate Degree in Masters Level
Experience :
15 years relevant experience after the first Degree/Associate membership of which
4 years should be at Senior Academic Research level.
Age :
Should be not less than 25 years and not more than 50 years.
(The upper age limit will not apply to the employees of the Government
Corporations/ Boards/ Public Sector.)
Salary Scale:
HM 1-3–2006 : Rs. 41745 (15x1100) 58245
Salary Point:
Selected candidates will be placed at the initial salary point of the above salary scale.
03. PRINCIPAL RESEARCH SCIENTIST
Academic & Professional Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in science in 4 years duration from a university recognized by
the University Grant Commission of Sri Lanka and a Doctoral Degree (PhD Degree)
in Science
Experience :
15 years experience as a researcher of which 4 years should be at senior academic
research level
Age :
Should be not less than 25 years and not more than 50 years.
(The upper age limit will not apply to the employees of the Government
Corporations/ Boards/ Public Sector.)
Salary Scale:
HM 1-3–2006 : Rs. 41745 (15x1100) 58245

04. SENIOR RESEARCH ENGINEER

05. SENIOR RESEARCH SCIENTIST
Academic/Professional Qualifications and Experience :
Bachelor’s Degree of 4 years duration with a 1 st or 2nd class upper in Science from a
university recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Sri Lanka and
a postgraduate research degree in master level with 10 years relevant experience
in research activities after the 1st degree
OR
Degree of 4 Yrs. duration in Science from a university recognized by University
Grants Commission (UGC) of Sri Lanka and a PhD degree in Science with 10 years
experience in research activities after the 1st degree.
Age
:
Should be not less than 22 years and not more than 45 years.

Salary Scale:

06. RESEARCH ENGINEER
Academic & Professional Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree of 4 years duration in Engineering from a university recognized

07. RESEARCH SCIENTIST
Academic & Professional Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree of 4 years duration with a 1st or 2nd class upper in Science from a
university recognized by the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka OR Special
Degree in Science and a Postgraduate research degree in Masters level in the
relevant field
Salary Scale:

Other Benefits for all Posts
 Centre contributes 15% of the salary to the Employees Provident Fund and employee should
contribute 10%
 Centre contributes 3% of the salary to the Employees Trust Fund
 In addition Government approved allowances will be paid.




Research Staff is entitled to obtain 35% of the basic salary as a Research Allowance as per
provisions of the DMS Circular 2/2014.
Reimbursement of medical bills as per the approved Medical Scheme of the NERD Centre
Encashment of unutilized leave
Incentive benefits as per the Incentive Scheme implemented by the Centre
Transport Facilities
For Post No: 1
Doorstep transport (group transport) facilities are provided within the government
approved distance.
For Other Posts
Group transport facilities are available as applicable to the Centre from Colombo, Gampaha,
Kadawatha, Minuwangoda and Negombo.

Interviews will be held for each group depending on the vacancies available at that time.

referees and copies of the certificates relevant to educational & experience certificate should
be forwarded under Registered Cover to reach the Manager (Human Resources) of NERD Centre.
The post applied should be marked on the top left hand corner of the envelope. Applications from
