Centre for Sport and Social Impact
Pacific Netball Partnerships* 2011 to (June) 2014
At its inception in 2010, the Pacific Netball Partnership
aimed to build strong, well governed netball organisations
that had the capacity to support sustained increases in
netball participation whilst contributing to positive social
development outcomes. Over the course of the program
these development outcomes were refined to:
Improving health-related behaviours and reducing
the impact of non-communicable diseases.
&
Developing female leadership capacity
within partner organisations’ communities.
It is important to note that the developments desired through
the PNP – such as increases in sport participation, increases in
women’s leadership and health improvements – are outcomes
that require improvements in capacity to be established, as well
as social and behavioural changes. These can take time to gain
momentum and some partner organisations have only just begun
to consolidate capacity developments. As such:
the findings of this study are promising
providing indication that the PNP may need to be supported for
several more years to achieve established structures and an
embeddedness of sport participation in everyday life in order to
realise the broader outcomes that can be fostered through sport.
The PNP is implemented in the following
countries with partner organisations:
