The Worship Design Team will meet today following the 11:15 service in the Education Building,
Room 208.
The Church Council will meet next Sunday, May 31 at 2 PM in the sanctuary.
American Red Cross Blood Drive: Volunteers are needed to help set up, monitor the sign-in
table and teardown. A sign-up sheet is located in the narthex. Help is also needed to stack and
move the chairs in the sanctuary following the 11:15 service today. Blood donors can sign up to
give blood online at neumc.com. If you do not have access to the internet, please contact the
Church Office to sign up to donate blood.

Fifty days ago many of us began a journey together in prayer following the model given to us
by 120 followers of Jesus. They “all continued in one accord with prayer and supplication” as
they waited to be filled with the power promised to them by Jesus before he ascended to
heaven. We have been praying with one accord for our church, our ministries and our pastor.
I want to express appreciation to the members of the Prayer Ministry Team for planning this
emphasis and for writing the Prayer Prompts and to all of you who have participated in prayers
and praises for our church. And now we are in one place waiting to hear the story of the
coming of the Holy Spirit. Come, Holy Spirit! Jane Scott, Chair, Prayer Ministry Team
Please help Epworth students prepare for summer camp at Asbury Hills as they will need ten
“Camper Packs” which include: backpack, water bottle, bug spray, sunblock, poncho (not
disposable), laundry bag, journal, pen, or you may give money to Ann Payne or Debbie Watford
for items to be purchased. Please place your things in the box in the Education Building by today.

The Dinners of Eight Brunch Bunch will gather at LePeep Restaurant (located to the right of
Bi-Lo in the Village at Sandhill, 110 Forum Drive, Suite 7) at 9 AM on Thursday, May 28 for a

Emmaus of the Midlands Women's Walk #45 will be held May 28-31, 2015. Anyone interested in

"If You Want To Walk On Water, You've Got To Get Out Of The Boat" is a book by John
Ortberg that will be the basis for a five week summer small group (June 28 - July 26, except
July 5 due to VBS); Sunday evenings at 5:30 PM in the Education Building. The book focuses
on issues related to improving Christian discipleship. A sign up sheet is in the narthex, for

Henry Ward Beecher, a preacher during
the Civil War said this after seeing the long
lines of dead soldiers, "They hover as a
cloud of witnesses above this nation." His
words call us to a place of honoring and
respecting those who have laid down their
lives for our freedoms. May the word
spread in our churches and in our homes,
it matters how we live and how we honor
those who have paid so much.

MINISTRY AND PRAYER NEEDS
▪ Blakely Cahoon and family, upon the death of her father, Jude T. Gehlmann.
▪ Sandy Wrenn, Barbara Day’s cousin, hospitalized at Duke University Hospital with a very
serious lung problem.
▪ Barbara Butler, hospitalized at Providence Hospital (downtown).
▪ Miriam Simpson, recovering from knee surgery.
▪ Thurman Bruffey, hospitalized with pneumonia.
▪ Sam Christmus, who is spending two months in Uganda working with Partnership Uganda
and YOFAFO Uganda on education, community development and healthcare projects.
▪ David Mitchum and his family, upon the death of his mother, Corine Mitchum.
▪ Matthew Shoup, William Wu and Zack Spencer, as they travel to China for three weeks.
They will volunteer at Carly’s orphanage and share their testimonies at William’s former
elementary school.
▪ Jewel Edwards, diagnosed with breast cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy.
▪ A Spring Valley High School Teacher, who was shot at his home on May 13. Please pray
for his continued healing.

▪ Our missionaries: Tom & Emma Henry — Appalachian Mountain Leadership (AML), a
ministry based in Boone, NC, which facilitates Christian outdoor adventure experiences. Matt
& Jenny Williams ([email protected]) — Matt is a member of NEUMC, who works
as a missionary to university students with Cru with the Indianapolis Metro team in Indianapolis,
Indiana, which consists of two campuses, Butler and IUPUI (an Indiana University located
downtown). Steve & Stephanie Bredesen, in Nakalanda, Uganda, as directors of Eagle’s Nest
Clinic and Eaglet’s Primary School. Abbu, the Bredesen's neighbor, that he will either allow
them to drill a well on his land or sell the land to them so that they will have a fresh water supply.
Ben & Jenny Reyes: Ben, born in Puerto Rico, and Jenny, born in Brazil, have ministered in
Brazil and Paraguay since their marriage in 1989. They have two sons, Phillipe and Mathias.
The Reyes work locally in discipleship, leading Inductive Bible Study seminars, and teaching on
the subjects of church planting, mission to Muslims, mission in the local church, and effective
short-term mission trips.
