THE 1965 NEUTRA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TIME CAPSULE TO BE OPENED:
APRIL 18, 2015 NEUTRA STUDENTS OPEN THE TIME CAPSULE FROM 1965 AND BURY A NEW
TIME CAPSULE TO BE OPENED APRIL, 2065.
NAS LEMOORE, LEMOORE, CA (April 10, 2015) – RJ Neutra Elementary School is pleased to announce
a special Heritage Time Capsule opening of a 1965 time capsule and burial of the new time capsule to be opened
in April 2065.
The Heritage Ceremony will take place at 2:00PM on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at RJ Neutra Elementary
School on the Naval Air Station, Lemoore, CA.
The items in this Heritage Time Capsule will give future generations a glimpse of what life was like at RJ Neutra
School in 2015. We will also get an opportunity to see how life was in 1965 for Neutra students. The information
included represents RJ Neutra School and the NAS, Lemoore community and will ensure a legacy for years to
come. The time capsule will be opened April, 2065.
“RJ Neutra students have wondered what was in the time capsule since 1965, and have inquired about when it
will be opened for the past 50 years,” said Neutra Principal, John Partin. Partin continued, “The wait is over, we
will find out on April 18.”
During the event, the time capsule buried in 1965 will be opened and placed on display at the school and the
Heritage Time Capsule, to be opened in 2065, will be filled with various items representing the school and our
LNAS community including: an iPad and charger, a newspaper from that day, a special Navy Christmas book
signed by NAS Lemoore personnel and other items selected from each Neutra School grade level. Prior to the
ceremony, these items will be on display before being placed in the time capsule.
