In the spring of 1955 he entered Pacific Islands Central School,
which was then on Truk, graduating in 1958. During the stunmershe returned
to the Marshall Islands and continued his employment with the District
Administration.
While at Pacific Islands Central School# Congressman Silk served as
chairman of the student court, junior class treasurer, member of the
student council and library aide.
Nhile employed by the Marshalls District Administration he rose from
clerical trainee $
principa1_clerk. He served as assistan_ adminstrative
officer, political and economic program assistant and worked with the local
government as well. He was the youngest field trip officer to serve in
the Marshalls.
In 1958 he began his higher education at the University of Hawaii.
In 1962 he won an East-West Center grant and in 1964 graduated with a B.A.
degree in political science. Following his graduation from the University
of Hawaii he toured the United States under the auspices of the East-West
Center.

At present Congressman Silk is Marshall •Islands District political
affairs officer; member, board of directors of the Marshalls Credit Union;
and chairman of Boy Scouts of America Committee Troop 96.
During the first session of the Congress of Hicronesia he serve_ as
an assistant
to the legislative counsel, as journal clerk, and as secretary
to several committees of the House of Delegates.
He is•married to the _ormer Isabella Capelle and has three children.
