By purchasing your POINTS Pedometer����������������� , you’ve already indicated that you’re interested in reaching your goal and becoming more active. This POINTS Pedometer is designed to record the activity POINTS ��������������������������������������������� values you earn as well as the steps and the distance you walk each day. Your information will be saved for up to one week so that you can monitor your progress. Important Information Do Set up your POINTS Pedometer before use, to personalise it to you. Clip your POINTS Pedometer securely to your waistband (see page 14). Store your POINTS Pedometer in a clean dry place Immerse your POINTS Pedometer in water or Don’t it will break, and this will not be covered by the Guarantee. Drop or step on your POINTS Pedometer. Use solvents to clean your POINTS Pedometer Before using your POINTS Pedometer �������������������� for the first time, you will need to set it up so that it is personalised to you by following the instructions below. Remove the battery tab from your POINTS Pedometer ��� by pulling the tab outwards. This will automatically begin the set up. The first screen that will appear will be the TIME screen. Getting to know your POINTS Pedometer UP = Press this to scroll up through numbers or options. Press and hold down this key to scroll at speed through numbers. ENTER =When changing information press ENTER to confirm your choice. MENU = Press this key to move you to a different screen on your POINTS Pedometer (detailed on page 5) DOWN = Press this to scroll down through numbers or options. Press and hold down this key to scroll at speed through numbers. RESET = Press this key in any screen exept stopwatch to clear the steps, distance and activity POINTS values for the current day. The MENU key Each press of the MENU key will take you to view one of the following screens: ACTIVITY POINTS DISTANCE IMPERIAL/METRIC REVIEW. TIME STEPS STOP WATCH STRIDE WEIGHT For Example: To view ”STEPS” press MENU twice from the “Activity POINTS” screen. “HEALTHY” Before you can start to earn activity POINTS values you must first reach a healthy level of activity. This means that you will earn activity POINTS values for walking over and above your normal level of activity. Press and hold ENTER for 3 seconds until the screen displays “SET TIME”. 5. Use the UP or DOWN keys to change the hours and press ENTER when the hour you want is showing. 6. Use the UP or DOWN keys to adjust the minutes and press ENTER when the minutes you want are showing. 7. “AM” will flash if you are setting up in 12 hour clock. 8. Use the UP or DOWN keys to switch between “AM” and “PM”. 9. Press ENTER to confirm “AM” or “PM” and your POINTS Pedometer will return to the time screen. 2. Press UP or DOWN to switch between 12 hour clock and 24 hour clock. 3. Press ENTER to confirm your selection. 4. “12:00” will display on the screen. The hours on the screen will be flashing, and if setting up in 12 hour clock AM will also appear on screen. Back to top Choosing imperial or metric measurements 1. Press MENU four times from the time screen to get to the “IMPERIAL/METRIC” screen. 4. Use the UP or DOWN keys to switch between “IMPERIAL” and “METRIC”. 2. “IMPERIAL” will automatically display on the screen. 5. Press ENTER to confirm your choice. N.B. Once you have selected IMPERIAL or METRIC, your POINTS Pedometer will automatically default to the setting chosen throughout the set up process. We recommend that you measure everything for one week in either imperial or metric. When you change you will lose all saved information. 3. To change the current setting to “METRIC”, press and hold ENTER for 3 seconds. Back to top Setting your stride length 1. Press MENU once from the “IMPERIAL/METRIC” screen to set your “STRIDE”. 2. To set your stride length, press and hold ENTER for 3 seconds until the screen displays “MANUAL?”. Average Stride Length 3. If you have selected “AVERAGE”, use the UP or DOWN keys to select “FEMALE” or “MALE” and press ENTER. If you want to enter your actual stride length, press ENTER. This will enable you to get a more accurate reading from your POINTS Pedometer. If you want to use the average stride length, press DOWN to “AVERAGE?” and press ENTER. Setting your stride length 4. Your POINTS Pedometer will then ask you to confirm your height, “IN” (for feet and inches) or “CM” (for centimetres) will be displayed on the right of the screen. The numbers on the screen will then flash – press UP or DOWN to select the correct height and press ENTER. 5. Your POINTS Pedometer will then return to the main stride screen and display your average stride length. NB: For feet and inches, you will need to confirm the number of feet and then press ENTER, the inches on the screen then flash. Once you have selected the correct number of inches press ENTER to confirm. Back to top Your personal stride length 3. Select “MANUAL” and follow the steps below to firstly calculate your stride length. Calculating Stride Length (in/cm) 5. You can then press UP or DOWN to select your exact stride length. Press ENTER to confirm and return to the main stride screen. • Walk 10 normal walking steps, marking from heel to heel. • Measure the total distance in inches or cm. • Divide the total distance by 10. • You now have your average stride length in inches or cm. 4. Press UP or DOWN and your POINTS Pedometer will automatically show an average stride length of 75cm (29.5in). Back to top 10 Setting your weight 1. Press MENU once from the stride screen to set “WEIGHT”. 3. Press and hold ENTER for 3 seconds until the Stones or Kg digits flash on the screen. 4. Use the UP or DOWN keys to select your weight and press ENTER. 5. If you have set your POINTS Pedometer to imperial, Lbs will flash after confirming Stones – press UP or DOWN to select the number of Lbs and press ENTER. 2. Stones and lbs, or Kg, will appear on the right of the screen to show imperial or metric. Back to top You are now ready to start walking for your activity POINTS values. Either press the MENU key twice to get back to the “activity POINTS” screen or your POINTS Pedometer will automatically change back to the “activity POINTS” screen after 3 minutes. 11 How to wear your POINTS Pedometer When you want to start walking and earning your activity POINTS values, you will need to clip your POINTS Pedometer to your belt or the waistband of your trousers, making sure you also attach the Pedometer strap for extra security. To open the clip on the end of the pedometer strap, push the clip upwards. Push the clip down to shut. To open push the clip upwards. Back to top 12 Earning activity POINTS values To earn activity POINTS values you must first reach a ‘Healthy’ level of activity. When you start walking with your POINTS Pedometer the screen will display the walk icon and the progress bar will begin to fill up in half blocks. Once you have filled up all 10 half blocks, “HEALTHY” will appear on the screen and you will hear a ‘beeping’ sound. Once all 10 blocks are completely filled, 1 activity POINTS value will have been earned. Each time you earn 1 activity POINTS value, a ‘beep’ will sound. The progress bar will then clear and begin to fill up again as you keep walking. You can now start earning your activity POINTS values. The progress bar blocks will then clear and start filling up and ½ an activity POINTS value will be earned after 5 blocks become completely filled. You will reach “HEALTHY” before you start to earn activity POINTS values. 14 FAQ Questions Back to top Answers How many steps do I need to do before I earn activity POINTS values? This will be totally unique to you and it will depend on your weight and stride length, it will vary for each individual. Can I see my activity POINTS values earned yesterday? Yes, go to the ‘Reviewing your week’ section on Page 20 to learn how to view your “activity POINTS”, “steps” and “distance” screens for previous days. After walking around all day nothing is showing on the “steps”, “distance” or “activity POINTS” screens, why? Check you have set up your stride length and weight correctly. Go to Page 6 for some help on getting started. 15 Clearing “ACTIVITY POINTS”, “STEPS” AND “DISTANCE” If you need to reset your “activity POINTS“, “STEPS” and “DISTANCE” screens to zero for the current day, press the RESET key in any screen except stopwatch, and press ENTER to confirm. Press the MENU key to exit. NB: All counters in “activity POINTS“, “STEPS” and “DISTANCE” screeens will be cleared and any information for that day will not be saved. Changing your Personal Information If you need to change your “WEIGHT”, “STRIDE” or the “TIME”, please follow the instructions in the Getting Started section of this booklet. (See Page 6) Back to top 16 Starting a new day At midnight (12:00am), your POINTS Pedometer will automatically change to a new day and “activity POINTS“, “STEPS” and “DISTANCE” screens will be saved into the review section. After you have completed 1 week you will need to reset your POINTS Pedometer to continue counting your activity POINTS values, steps and distance walked. Your POINTS Pedometer will display “RESET?” on the screen to prompt you to start the new week. You can review the last 7 days before resetting your POINTS Pedometer by pressing the MENU key and following the instructions in the Reviewing your week section of this user guide below. Once you have finished press RESET and ENTER. Back to top 17 Reviewing your week To review your “activity POINTS”, “STEPS” or “DISTANCE” walked from previous days: 1. Press MENU until “REVIEW” displays on screen. Press ENTER and the steps you took that day will be shown, displaying the walk icon on the screen to indicate that you are reviewing steps. 2. Press DOWN once to review “DAY 1”. 3. Press ENTER on DAY 1 to scroll through “activity POINTS“, “STEPS” and “DISTANCE” walked. For example, press ENTER on DAY 1 and your POINTS Pedometer will display the “activity POINTS” you have earned for that day: Press ENTER and the distance you walked that day will be shown: 4. Press DOWN to move to the next day and press ENTER to review the details in the same way. Back to top 18 Using the stop watch You can use your POINTS Pedometer as a stop watch to see the time you spend walking. 1. Press MENU until “ST-WATCH” displays on the screen. 2. Press UP once to start the stop watch and UP again to stop it. 3. Press DOWN or RESET to clear the time on the screen. Back to top 19 Useful battery information The battery in your POINTS Pedometer is a 3 volt lithium battery type CR2032. The battery is held in the compartment underneath the clip. Battery care To change the battery: 1. Make sure you observe the (+/-) signs when installing the battery. 1. Hold open the clip on the back of your POINTS Pedometer. 2. Slide out the battery door. 3. Remove the old battery and place a new battery into the compartment. 2. Remove the battery from your POINTS Pedometer when the product will not be in use for an extended period of time, or when the battery is exhausted. NB: This will clear all saved information. Make sure you observe the (+/-) signs when installing the battery and insert the battery positive (+) side facing up. 4. Slide the battery door battery door back in place. Back to top 20 Other info about your POINTS Pedometer • If your POINTS Pedometer remains inactive for a period of 5 minutes, it will automatically switch off the screen to conserve battery life, retaining all saved information. It will wake up as soon as you start walking or press any button. • If no keys have been pressed for 3 minutes, your POINTS Pedometer will return to the “activity POINTS” screen. • You will hear a ‘beeping’ sound when you have reached ‘Healthy’ status and then every time you earn 1 activity POINTS value. • If you wish to reset your POINTS Pedometer to the default settings, please remove the battery for a few seconds and then replace it back in your POINTS Pedometer. Please note, this will clear all saved information.
