Spring Newsletter 2015 - Normandale Lake Office Park

Spring 2015
PAT SENG | VP/GM NLOP
From the GM
Greetings!
No matter how
mild or brutal the
winters are here in
Minnesota, we’re
always eager to
welcome spring.
Here at the Park,
it means more
outdoor lunch breaks, more leisurely
walks along the trails and around the
lake and many more bright smiling
faces greeting us each day.
We are so fortunate to be able to take
advantage of all of the amenities within
our reach at Normandale Lake Office
Park. Just look at the Events Calendar
in this newsletter. There’s an upcoming
gardening seminar, spring boutique,
bicycle safety check and of course, our
5K Run/3K Walk Race. Several of these
events are organized by our onsite
Executive Concierge, which is featured
here on the front page.
Let’s not waste a minute of this
outstanding time of the year. Dust
off your golf clubs and head to the
driving range. Take your family to
the zoo or visit the many parks
nearby. Plan a fun family road trip or
a weekend bicycle tour. The weather
and the outdoor activities are just
going to keep on getting better
and better. n
Executive Concierge – Here

Spring
Some 35 million Americans
suffer from allergies brought
about by pollen and mold.
As the trees begin to bloom and pollen is released in the
air, the sneezing, sniffling, stuffiness, itchy, watery or dry
eyes begin for so many. If you’re one of them, here are
some suggestions to relieve some of the symptoms.
• Talk to your doctor or see an allergist or begin
taking over-the-counter medicines before trees start
budding.
• Avoid outdoor activities when pollen count is the
highest (before 10:00 am). Pay attention to media
reports regarding pollen and remember rainy days
are more manageable than dry, sunny days.
• Take a shower and wash your hair before going to bed
to avoid depositing pollen on your pillow and sheets.
• Encase your mattress and pillows inside dust-proof
zippered covers.
• Keep your doors and windows closed to keep
pollen out.
• Vacuum floors, furniture and rugs often and use a
vacuum with a HEPA filter.
• Bare floors are better than carpets, and washable
throw rugs can be cleaned regularly.
• Change air conditioning filters once a month, using
a high efficiency grade filter.
• Clean vents and dust regularly. Don’t forget to clean
the tops of picture frames and doorways where
pollen and dust collects.
• Run an air purifier 24 hours a day if you can. n

“It’s enjoyable sharing
the beauty of music
with everyone.”
Why not make this the year
you stop using chemicals to
clean your home.
It’s spring cleaning time again and the perfect time
to consider using alternative cleaning products inside
your home. You and your family will breathe easier
because of it and it’s better for the environment, too.
• Start by choosing household cleaners that
are “green” and use non-toxic chemicals. Buy
products that are biodegradable, petroleum-,
phosphate- and solvent free.
• Use microfiber cloths that remove dirt and grease
without using chemicals. Choose a good quality
cloth that is specially formulated for cleaning.
• Vinegar is an outstanding household cleaner. Mix
it with water for washing windows, floors, painted
woodwork and even to clean up fresh carpet
stains.
• Baking soda with a little soap is great for cleaning
kitchen and bathroom countertops and chrome
faucets and fixtures.
• To make a good all-purpose cleaner: Add 1/2 cup
vinegar and 1/4 cup baking soda to 1/2 gallon of
water and mix thoroughly. Store in a spray bottle
to use for all of your cleaning projects.
• Check the Internet to see how you can make
other effective cleaning products. Do some
experimenting to see what works best for
you. And if you feel you must use commercial
products, use them sparingly. Dilute them with
water to tone down the harshness. You’ll find
you’ll be saving money, too. n

playing light classics as
people come to work. I

or thanks me, I feel good
knowing that someone has
enjoyed this moment of live
music as they pass by.”
