Note from Frank & Cheri Capps:
Thanks for the welcoming greeting last evening at your
cookout. Everyone we met was delightful and accepting.
We are excited to be joining such a wonderful
community.
We are sorry we will not get to know Miss Millie;
obviously everyone loved her and her husband.
We expect to be moving into our new home near the
end of June after our granddaughter graduates from high
school.
We are available any time after Wednesday, April
29 that is convenient for you and the Board to meet with
us on Skype. Thank you for allowing us to be interviewed
this way.
Again, thank you and Miss Barbara for the generous
hospitality. We made the right home choice. We hope
you will feel the same.
Sincerely,
Frank and Cheri Capps

The cookout held on Saturday April 25, was a great time enjoyed by our residents.
Thanks to Ben Nabonzy and Bernie Barrett our Grill Masters for doing the grilling. Barb
McIntyre's macaroni tuna salad, Patt Thackrah Asian slaw and Diana Bowhall beans were
delicious, thanks girls for making those dishes.
In an effort to minimize paper waste the committee developed a new method for
collection of money and distribution of tickets. Joan Parks agreed to do the task of
collecting and ticketing. Thanks Joan for doing that it worked out really well. Our
building reps will continue to pass out the Chatter and flyers as usual but will not have
to collect money and turn in tickets. A big thank you to them for doing a great job.
We will have a Memorial Day Picnic in May on Memorial Day. A flyer with details will be
coming out.
Remember anyone is welcome to join the Recreation committee which meets the first
Monday of each month at 10:00 am in the clubhouse. Suggestions are welcome. We do
not meet in June, July, or August.

Closing Procedures
The following are suggestions to assist you in closing your unit safely if you plan on
being away for an extended period of time.
Inside Your Unit:
1. Add 1 cup of chlorine bleach or vinegar to the toilet bowl and cover with three
layers of plastic wrap (e.g. saran). Put the cover down and place a heavy object
on top. Also cover the toilet tank with plastic wrap.
2. In order to keep traps in the sink(s) and bathtub(s) from drying out you can put
in 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil.
3. Place ant and roach traps in each room.
4. Turn off the water to your refrigerator/icemaker. Leave the refrigerator running
on low. It is suggested that you keep a few containers in the fridge (e.g. sugar
and flour) plus a container of baking soda. Empty your freezer.
5. Dispose of empty cans, bottles, papers. etc.
6. After vacuuming, clean the bags and empty all garbage cans.
7. Unplug all electrical items except the refrigerator and the air conditioning.
8. Place all dry food items (flour, sugar, etc.) in plastic containers and double plastic
bags or keep them in the refrigerator.
9. If you have a humidistat, set it at 60%.
10. Clean the dishwasher including the door edge. Blot any water left in the bottom.
Place a container of baking soda inside. Pour 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in the
bottom of the dishwasher and clothes washer to keep the rubber from drying and
cracking. Put a towel in the door of the dishwasher to keep it open.
11. Scrub the kitchen floor.
12. Clean or replace your filter on the air conditioner.
13. In summer, set the air conditioner at 82 degrees. In winter, set it at 65 degrees.
14. Turn off all circuit breakers except for the refrigerator and air conditioning.
15. Try to use up all the food before you leave. Food can draw insects.
16. Clean all appliances, including the toaster/toaster oven.

17. Run ice cubes through the garbage disposal and then flush with baking soda and
water. Add vegetable oil or spray with WD-40.
18. Turn all taps off. Do NOT cover sink drains.
19. Check to see that your smoke detector is working. (new battery)
20. Leave closet doors and drawers open for air circulation. Do not leave clothes on
wire hangers. Plastic, padded or wooden hangers are recommended.
21. Placing several containers of charcoal around the unit will absorb dampness
22. Close and lock all windows. Close blinds or draperies tightly.
23. Be sure all personal items (potted plants, etc.) have been removed from outside
your unit (front and back). Flammable items (gasoline, propane, etc.) cannot be
left inside a unit.
24. Turn off the water at 1) the outside valve, and 2) the hot water heater.
25. If a car is left on the property, leave a key at the office or with whoever will be
checking your unit in your absence.
Mail/Bills/Etc.:
1. Cut off mail or arrange someone to pick it up. You can also arrange to have you
mail forwarded to you. Stop newspaper delivery.
2. Arrange payment of your utility bills and condo fees. It is convenient for most to
have them automatically withdrawn from you bank.
3. Put your telephone and you DSL/Cable Modem on vacation.
4. Leave a key at the office and with whoever will be checking your unit in your
absence.
VERY IMPORTANT
Let your condominium Association and Management Company know that you will be
away and where you can be reached in case of emergency. Dropping a letter at the
office with information is very helpful. Arrange to have someone inspect your unit at
least every two weeks or whatever time frame your insurance company requires.
