Update 2007:
Immediately, after graduation, I moved to Palmdale, California to rejoin my family who had moved from
Lincoln at the beginning of my senior year. Shortly after arriving, my father introduced me to my future
husband. My father and future father-in-law had met through membership in the Rotary Club.
It was a whirlwind courtship! We met on July 17, 1957 and were married Sept. 27th. Harvey (my husband)
had returned from the military in 1956. He started Jr. College in early September, just before we were
married. We lived in Palmdale and I worked at Bank of America. He attended college and drove a school
bus (boy, were we poor!). In 1960 we relocated to Los Angeles. Harvey attended the Univ. of So. Calif., I

worked at the Fed. Reserve Bank until 1972, shortly before the birth of our first daughter, Cynthia. Our
second daughter, Stacy, was born in July 1974.
I was a stay at home mom, very busy with two young girls (not a lot of for personal activities). Things were
going very well, but our families decided Los Angeles had deteriorated to an extent that we no longer
wanted to raise our daughters there.
My husband's family originally was from No. East, Arkansas. After a number of site visits, both families
relocated to Jonesboro, Ark. in 1979 (it's about 80 miles west of Memphis). Our close friends thought we
had lost our minds, because Harvey had a wonderful job with Xerox and just quit. It took some time to
settle into a significantly different environment (in 1979 they still had "Blue Laws" - you were unable to buy
anything except food on Sunday. Even today it remains a "dry county").
The move was one of the best decisions our family every made. Jonesboro was a small growing, high
quality city. Ark. State University is also located in Jonesboro. Ultimately, Harvey obtained an excellent
job with a small (then) growing company in Memphis, TN. - Federal Express - at his retirement in 2001,
he was at a senior executive level in International Operations.
Since the birth of our daughters, I have been blessed to remain at home and experience their
development. Cynthia is married with our only grand child (a boy C.J.), who is four. Stacy is not married.
After the girls left home, I started a number of craft activities and finally focused on quilting as my passion.
Not to brag, but in 2006, one of my quits won the state championship in Little Rock. The quilt was an
eleven year project. I am involved with three quilt groups and spend many hours per week sewing. One of
my groups is presently making lap quilts to send to our injured vets.
I have never sold a quilt, but have given a number to friends.
After Harvey retired in 2001, we bought a 40 ft. diesel motor home and traveled extensively. We also
have been summer volunteers for the forest service at Aspen, Colorado; spent 3 months traveling in
Canada, and been from west coast to east coast and back. At this age we are slowing down a bit. We
now spend more time at a vacation home we also have on a lake in the Ozarks.
I am truly looking forward to seeing my H.S. friends in Sept. It seems unbelievable that 50 years have
now passed. I have been blessed with exceptional health and a loving family. Life is and has been good.

Update 2007:
Married Bruce McFarland (you will remember him as Elmo) shortly after our 45th Reunion and we live in
Colorado Springs. I keep busy reading, playing bridge and golf and going for an occasional bike ride
with Bruce. I have two daughters and five grandchildren who all love Bruce. I couldn’t be luckier!

I served in U. S. Army after graduation and then worked for the Lincoln Fire Department for 8 years. I
received a degree in marketing and economics from the University of Nebraska at age 31. Have been a
self-employed insurance salesperson for the last 20 years.
We have a dog, a bird, and we travel extensively.

Update 2007:
I retired seven years ago and husband Fred and I decided to spend our time raising cattle. So -- we
bought another farm and lots of equipment and enjoyed it for a while, But now we are getting a little tired
of working all the time! Don't know where this will lead us!
We now have two granddaughters - Rebecca, age 8 and Amelia, age 6 who live in Connecticut with
daughter Sandra and husband Ron. Sandra is a freelance writer and works from her home. Our son,
Scott, is an Engineer and he still works at Kawasaki. He and his wife Janis live in Lincoln.

Update July 4, 2012:
My health has much improved from 2007 when I had major surgery for a ruptured appendix that forced
me to miss the last reunion. Thank you for thinking of me during that trying time. My wife Elaine
continues to be the blessing of my life and a real helpmate to me in my work. We will celebrate our 52nd
anniversary this December.
Since I am feeling better than I have for years I am back full time with our business, LI-COR inc. While
we have grown to the point we now employ around 340 staff worldwide, we face major challenges
because of western government debt. Our customers who are researchers are primarily funded by
governments, which presents a problem. I am really enjoying my job despite the challenges. We have
been blessed with an outstanding team that keeps me young. Our team is developing some exciting new
products that should allow us to do well despite the world economic challenges. God is good.

Wife Elaine, a son and a daughter. We are enjoying God's blessings of adding a wonderful daughter-inlaw and son-in-law and six grandchildren to our family. Both our son and son-in-law are also electrical
engineers and are involved in the business.

Life is an adventure. In years following high school, I attended UNL where I graduated with an MS degree
in Electrical Engineering in 1969. Upon graduating from UNL, my wife, two children and I moved to
Albuquerque, NM where I worked as a member of the technical staff for Sandia Laboratories in the
Satellite Sensors Division. In 1971, we left Albuquerque to return to Lincoln to form LI-COR, a business
which we started around the instruments that were originally developed with my previous work on East
Campus (while doing graduate work). After much work, the business became very successful, but it also
resulted in my going through a severe burn out. At that time, several of our employees approached me
about putting my faith in Jesus Christ. I made a personal decision to trust in Jesus, and by making Christ
the center of our lives, it has changed our lives in positive and dramatic ways.
Update 2007:
Our family is all in good health with Elaine and I celebrating our 47th anniversary this December.
LI-COR has continued to grow to where we now employ 250 with offices in Germany and the UK. While I
still retain the overall leadership, my role has changed dramatically as I now have a young man of 46
presently serving as VP and General Manager, who has taken much of my load and is in training to take
the overall responsibility of the company in the next couple of years or so. While the trials of life continue,
Christ continues to be faithful.

Married to Alan Lyman for 49 years. We have 4 wonderful Children with 3 great spouses; Alan (the 2) &
Bev., Ward & Shari, Dennis, & Michelle & Doug. We also have 9 Grandchildren and 2 Greatgrandchildren. We all live in the wonderful state of NE.
Worked at Goodyear for 30 years, then 8 years at a collectable shop then 2 years at a candy store. Now
I’m helping my sister set up a scrapbook store in Waverly.
Al & both love doing Genealogy, so we travel all over visit family to find relatives and their history. I’m also
into scrapbooking; I’ve made 12 big books for my brothers and sister and for our children as well. I also
volunteer at the State Historical Society.

After living in Denver for 15 years, putting my girls through college, I sold the home in Denver, bought 40
acres in the country, and built a nice house. The girls are all married, starting lives of their own. I have 4
grandchildren; 2 girls and 2 boys.
I still work full time and enjoy my gardening and my cows and animals in my spare time. I spoil the
grandchildren every chance I get.
I have returned to my favorite hobby, raising registered black angus cattle. In addition to the cows, there
are chickens, turkeys, ducks, dogs, cats, parakeets, and a hugh garden to keep me busy. A couple of
birthdays ago, I bought an '86 Harley- Davidson Sportster—always wanted one.

Update January 2011:
We are still enjoying reasonably good health, and as a result, still spend our summers in Omaha, and our
winters in Texas.

Of course, the pictures are from Christmas 2010. Robyn, Sean and the grandchildren came to Texas
again for Christmas. Everyone is doing well. Having the entire family together really makes Christmas a
fun time. The first Picture includes our grandchildren: Andrew is now 13, Nathan is now 8, soon to be 9,
Rebekah is now 4, and loves to talk, talk, talk.
The second picture is Marilyn with our two rescued grand-dogs, Lovey & Gretchen. Renee and Francisco
rescued Gretchen, a Scottie, and then Lovey, a Dachshund/Italian Greyhound mix. On a sadder note,
Francisco’ dad lost his battle with cancer, and passed away in November. We will really miss doing things
with him.
Please join us in continuing to pray for our troops, and our Country.

My wife of almost 35 years, Marilyn (Shada) of Fremont, continues to be a busy homemaker and is very
active in the church, a local Enron wives' group, and a women's organization. Oldest Daughter Robyn and
husband, Sean, moved from Colorado to Omaha in 1994. Our youngest daughter, Renee, accepted a
scholarship with Texas Lutheran College where she is a senior.
I continue to work for Enron and will have completed 28 years in February, 1997. This truly makes me
one of the old-timers at Enron. I am now General Manager of Commercial Services for Enron Engineering
& Construction Company, with 25 employees reporting to me.
Marilyn and I still bowl in a mixed doubles league and I go fishing a couple of times a year. I will miss my
annual pheasant hunt in Kansas this year to fly to Phoenix for my mother's 85th birthday. We also plan to
celebrate this event in Lincoln on June 29th with an open house (same weekend as the class reunion).

My husband Nels, and I still reside in Baton Rouge enjoying this somewhat quieter stage in life. We are
fortunate to have our two sons, a daughter-in-law, and our two year old granddaughter in the Baton
Rouge area as well!!
I continue as Director of Relocation Services for a local real estate company and enjoy the travel
opportunities this position affords. I'm serving as President of the Greater Baton Rouge Association of
Realtors this year which encompasses a seven parish(county) area, so I've had my "plate full" of what my
husband refers to as "opportunities"!!
As a dedicated volunteer with the American Cancer Society, I spend many hours with the Reach To
Recovery and the Look Good, Feel Better programs counselling breast cancer patients.

Since the last reunion Don retired as Postmaster and we moved from South Sioux City, NE to
Bloomington, MN. Following Don’s triple bypass surgery in Bloomington, we moved to Liberty, MO, and
then back to Lincoln in May, 1994 to be closer to our three grandchildren. Our children are all grown and
have productive lives
.
I am currently working as an Accounting Assistant for the National Arbor Day Foundation. Don is working
for Hy-Vee and Pepsi. He can't set still.

Update 2007:
One week after leaving High School I went to work in San Diego, Ca. in the construction industry and
spent the next 45 years working at the trade in a lot of different job titles. In 1959 I married my wife who is
still trying to do her best to keep me in line. We had two children a boy and a girl of which my daughter
gave us two grand children.
I have been retired since 2002 and have enjoyed it by doing as most do, nothing important. Like most I

could write all about the things that has happened between high school and now but would more than
likely bore everyone or scare the timid to death so hope all have enjoyed their life as much as my wife
and I have, not to say things have been perfect by no means but it has all been bearable. We are now
planning to have the grand kids here for a week this Aug. Both are College Grad's and the granddaughter
is now going for her masters, so Grandma and Grandpa are very proud of both.
Hope to see you all but if we don't make it we will be thinking of everyone.

I married Frances (Corwine) Colón in 1963. We recently celebrated our 49 anniversary. We have lived in
Lincoln all this time. Sports have remained an important activity for me. I was inducted into the Nebraska
Baseball Hall of Fame in 1994, The Nebraska Softball Hall of Fame in 1994, and the Lincoln Northeast
Sports Hall of Fame in 1999.
Fran and I have two sons, Charlie and Mickey (both named for Mickey Charles Mantle). Both boys
attended Lincoln Northeast. Charlie graduated in 1986 and was named all-state catcher. Mickey
graduated in 1990 and was the starting catcher for Lincoln Northeast all four years he attended. Charlie
played baseball at the University of Nebraska for three years. He received Academic All-Big Eight honors
in 1987, 1988, and 1990. He was noted Big Eight Pitcher of the Week five different times. He transferred
to Nebraska Wesleyan in 1990 to play baseball with his brother. He was voted NIAC player of the year in
1991. Mickey was the starting catcher for Nebraska Wesleyan in 1990, 1991, 1992, and 1993. Both now
work for the Gallup Organization in Omaha. Charlie works in management and has traveled extensively
all over the world with the company. Mickey is in technical support and purchasing.
We have four grandchildren, all in Lincoln. Charlie and his wife, Dawn, have a daughter, McKynzie, age
12, and a son, Cooper, age 10. Mickey and wife, Kelli, have a daughter, Jalyn, age 11, and a daughter,
Kyndal, age 9. We stay busy with their school and athletic activities. We all live close so spend lots of
cherished time together.
Fran and I retired in 2004. I worked for 42 years for the Nebraska Department of Labor. Fran taught in the
Lincoln Public Schools for 29 years of which 19 were at Lincoln Northeast. We are active in our church
and two retirement groups. Five years ago we started a Nebraska Yankees fan club with seven people.
Today we have approximately 375 members and have many fun experiences with all these New York
Yankees fans. Our most recent gathering included former Yankees players Ralph Terry and Bob Cerv;
we had a great evening of storytelling.
The following is from the 40th book:
Floyd is the Executive Director of the Nebraska Occupational Information Coordinating Committee of the
Nebraska Department of Labor. Floyd is an active member in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and has

remained active in various sports. He attends all Husker football games and established the Husker
Home Run Club for the University of Nebraska baseball program. Floyd was inducted into the Nebraska
Softball Hall of Fame in 1994 and he currently coaches a semipro baseball team in Lincoln. His team won
the Nebraska state semipro championship in 1995 and 1996. Floyd's passion for baseball will reach its
ebb when he and his entire family travel to Yankee Stadium at the end of August to witness the retirement
of Don Mattingly's number in New York.

Update February 2012:
Married to Lou Donato, have been living in Las Vegas 50 years. Two sons, Greg and Doug Nauslar, One
step-daughter, Lisa Donato. Four Grandchildren, 3 girls/1 boy and 3 Great Grandsons. My youngest
grandchild is 22, does that make me old---- Never—I haven’t grown up yet.
Owner of Amber Unicorn Books, a rare and used book store. We specialize in rare, scarce, and out of
print cookbooks, metaphysical and occult, and science fiction and fantasy, and antiquarian books along
with books in other genres. We have a world – wide customer base and reputation. In January 2011 Bon
Appétit Magazine mentioned in the Winter Get Away article that our store was a must see while in Las
Vegas, in December of 2011 they named us as one of 7 top cookbook stores in America. In addition there
have been articles written about us in many other publications. Sauver Magazine is doing a big article in
their April 2012 issue. Mrs. Hendrix and Mrs. Hutchinson (Edwina’s mother) (RIP) thanks for believing in
me all those many years ago. I have around 16,000 cookbooks in the store. Lou and I are still working
seven days a week and I generally put in a 12 hour day. Still having fun selling and buying books. Lou
and I are members of Member of Antiquarian Booksellers of American Assoc., San Diego Booksellers
Assoc., Las Vegas Book Guild and I am past president of the Southern Nevada booksellers Assoc.
Obliviously, I have a big interest in books and reading. I love cookbooks and cooking. Two of our friends
are master chefs and I really enjoy cooking for them before they moved out of town. We love to travel but
with the store we are sort of tried down for the present. I go to Northern CA to see my boys ever once in
awhile and still make it back to Lincoln to see my brother Marvin and sister-in-law Linda, they are the only
ones left in Lincoln since my Dad died at 101 in 2011.
I love anything related to Mickey Mouse and other Disney Characters, and Unicorns. I am long over due
for a trip to Disneyland.

Father is able to work in his shop every day, learned the differences between Nebraska and Colorado
gardening, and has had highly productive gardens the last three years. Mother is able to pursue that
which she enjoys best; cooking and gardening. Phil is just out of Beta test with a new sales/use tax
program. Daughter Lynnelle is taking a year's sabbatical working a temporary accounts payable position
with VICORP. She plans to develop her own interior design practice during this time.
I was eight years with VICORP Restaurants, Inc. before I found my niche. Seven years in Accounts
Payable were productive years and I enjoyed the work, but feeling the need for some new challenges, I
made a move to Purchasing. That year was not all loss. I learned for a certainty what I didn't want to do. I
have been in the Tax Department two years now. Sales and Use Tax are my areas of concern.
Lynnelle and I spent three days in the Netherlands in September, 1996. I regret to say we were not able
to connect with Loek. The remainder of our two weeks were spent in South Wales. We had a wonderful
time visiting the area that was home to the paternal side of the family. Now not wanting to slight the
maternal ancestors, we hope to make a return trip and spend more time in West Wales. Ask me about
Wales; I have pictures! I'm also homesick. Have been doing some writing, continue to crochet and knit for
shelters, and enjoy getting outside whenever the opportunity and weather cooperate. Of course, the
weather cooperates more often that the opportunity.

Married to Tom George. Children and grandchildren in Oregon, California, and New Hampshire.
Jeanne has reluctantly decided to try retirement. Tom retired two years ago.
In April 1996, we moved from Portland to a home we owned in Tucson as a rental investment. We now
live in a one level home in a beautiful area north of Tucson called Saddlebrooke. The desert landscaping
is growing on us and we like it better each day. We have been doing some traveling; visiting children and
grandchildren.

Update 2007:
My husband and I celebrated our 51st wedding anniversary this year. We have lived in Kansas for almost
29 years. I keep busy by taking care of our 6 year old grandson, gardening and doing ceramics. This
summer, our little ceramics group of four other ladies and I have gathered at our house on Monday nights
for 24 years.

My husband and I have been married for 40 years and have three children. Most of my family still lives in
Lincoln, so we visit there quite often. I have two grandchildren and two step grandchildren.
My husband served 20 years in the Air Force; 16 1/2 years of our married life was service life. We lived in
seven states during that time. We lived in Lincoln for 6 years before moving to Kansas. We have lived
here for almost 19 years.
I enjoy ceramics, crafts, and sewing. In October, some friends and I have booths at craft fairs. I also enjoy
watching my grandson play Little League baseball.

Married to Nancy Eichelberger. We have 2 children, Shelly Lynn, age 33 and Scott Alan, age 30.
Grandchildren are 10 year old Jamey, and 7 year old Justin, who belong to Shelly; Rebecca, 3 years old
and Nickols, 1 year who belong to Scott. They are expecting a fifth grandchild in November.
Larry and his family own Nick's Farm Store in Geneva. It is a family business selling farm implements and
lawn and garden products. The business is 31 years old and has 6 employees.
We all work, live, and play, in the Geneva area; since 1967 (30 years). Interests are lawn and flower
work, boating, aviation, traveling, grandkid's, family photos, and friends.

August 2012:
Regrettably, my family has grown smaller with the death of my husband Howard in 2006. I now
reluctantly find myself in the position of matriarch to two daughters, Jean & Karyn, and two teenage
grandchildren, Taylor & Cole.
Since I retired from teaching high school English and speech, I’ve spent considerable time and effort

I love to travel. I divide my time between Ft. Collins and Whidbey, with detours to Ireland, Scotland,
England, and Italy. I enjoy the game of bridge, but am more successful playing the stock market. And,
yes, I can usually be found with the latest murder mystery in hand. Notice that my interests include little
physical action and no computer activity - - definitely goals of mine for the future.

I am still in Texas but have moved to Buda, near Austin. My husband passed away in 2009. My son &
one daughter & families live here . Three Grandchildren & 6 of the 8 Great grands live near-by. My
mother passed away last year & although I made several trips to Lincoln, didn't get to socialize much. My
brother & wife still live there & cousin Wayne Bauer also. There's no place like Lincoln in the Fall so will
try to plan trips back then.
I am a member of the Buda Chamber Of Commerce Fine Arts Festival. My job is coordinator for the Silent
Auction. I'm a choir member for my church, & try to stay out of trouble. Just me & my Cairn Terrier
Bonnie at home now. She likes Runzas too!
Update 2007:
Well...The sun has rizz, the sun has set, and here we are in Texas yet! Both of us retired living in Texas.
Painting is still my first love & I still garden as much as possible. This year I am Garden Club President for
the local club. I write for the Merkel Mail paper as Garden club reporter also.
Have done some extensive work on our several family trees which has given me great satisfaction. I
found several cousins many of whom have graduated from Northeast.
Two of my 6 Grandchildren have married & I now have 5 Great grandchildren!
We don't get back to Lincoln as much as we used to but my Mom is still here & just had her 93rd birthday.
Sure is good to be able to come back & see old friends,family & have a Runza! Looking forward to this
reunion!

Tom received his A.B. degree in Economics from UNL in 1961 and his MBA from Harvard with distinction
in 1966. He is now owner of Computer Secretary, the oldest and largest word processing service bureau
in the Southeast. He also sent along his card showing him as President of One Plus Options, Inc., a
single's organization for adults 45 to 64. He is also President of the Georgians for Nebraska.
Tom's hobbies are crossword puzzles, stock and commodity marketing, and running. He has participated
7 times in the 10K Peachtree Road Race.

Update 2011:
After 12 years of retirement living in Arizona, I moved back to Sacramento, CA to be near my family. I
have three children, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. They all live in the area so we get
together often. We just completed a family cruise to Alaska which was wonderful.
My husband worked for a utility company so we have access to their cabins that were built for their
employees that were converting areas from propane to natural gas. We try to go twice a year. Our
favorite ones are in Monterey and Yosemite. My favorite things to do are traveling, genealogy, reading,
movies and theatre, gardening and being with family. I am finally planning on attending the 2012 reunion
with my friend Joyce Kleege.

Looks like I will finally make a reunion in 2007.
Have lived in sunny Az for 12 years. I live in a resort and work in the office part time and am also the mail

supervisor. Can't seem to stop working.
I have 3 children, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. They all live in Sacramento, CA where I
lived for 35 years. Happily we visit each other often although they are not too fond of Arizona summers.

Update 2006:
Married to Pat (Calvin), LNE class of ‘58; 47 years. Two sons, 2 grandchildren. Mark is an accountant and
administration manager of a small private company in California where he lives with his wife Cheryl. Greg
is an electrical engineer for a computer company and lives around the corner from us with his wife Amy
and their two kids. The 2 grandchildren, Ryan(17), and Jenny(14), visit us often. We love it. We have lived
in Acton since 1964.
I have worked for several computer manufacturers doing engineering and software development since
1961. I’m finishing out my career as a technical writer. I write those software and hardware manuals that
never make any sense unless you already know how to use it. Pat is a retired computer programmer and
spends most days playing duplicate bridge.
I enjoy classical music and we are members of two bridge groups and have a busy social calendar. I have
been an amateur photographer all of my life and have graduated from the basement darkroom to digital
photography. I enjoy reading (novels and especially historical novels) and spend a large part of my spare
time reading newspapers and business magazines. I have been lucky to have no interest in sports; I
follow no sports, teams, or any TV sports coverage (saves lots of time). Any spare time I have (there is
never enough) is spent working on the house and yard.

We enjoy travel which we do every winter to scuba dive and lay in the sand to help survive the winter in
Montana. We ski, golf, backpack, fish, hunt, and enjoying each other. Missoula is a great place to enjoy

Update 2007:
Since retiring in 1999 as a secretary for the City of Lincoln, Building and Safety Department, I’ve kept very
busy. I volunteer on Monday mornings (going on 6 years) at the Community Blood Bank in the office. I
really enjoy keeping my office skills up and even learning new skills. I also garden, do needlework and
Carl and I travel, mostly in the Spring, Summer and Fall months.
We became grandparents for the 4th time in March 2006 to Carter. We travel to Colorado a lot to visit our
youngest daughter, her first baby and her husband. So pretty in Colorado, we really enjoy ourselves.
Looking forward to this special reunion, our “50”. Doesn’t seem like that’s possible.

Carl retired after 35 years in law enforcement. Oldest daughter is employed at St. Elizabeth Hospital in
the Emergency Room, and we have two children who teach in the Lincoln Public Schools. We have two
grandsons; Sean, 7, and Kyle, 4.
I am still Electrical Secretary for the City of Lincoln, Building and Safety Department. I have been with the
department for eighteen years in January. I still enjoy the busy atmosphere of the office.
Our grandson's keep us "active and young"!!. If it's not baseball, soccer games, swim meets, or model
plane flying, we find something else to keep us involved. But, we really love it. We are planning to start
building a new home in April of this year, and if completed on time, we will move in about September or
October.

Update 2012:
The partnership with the young couple we’d brought in to our company, Tra Mar Mechanical, Inc. didn’t
end happily as they decided they didn’t want Bruce to continue – some greed took over when they
became majority owners. We were ready for this situation so within a month we had Douglas Mechanical,
Inc. up and running and kept many of our original customers!! Since I had hoped to spend less time on
the business operations, we brought our daughter, Tracie, in as a partner so she could learn the
bookkeeping, reports, etc. as she’ll have to do that for our farm operation when we’re gone.
Our grandkids next door have just gotten older and more capable of doing lots of activities. They are all
in 4-H and all show lambs at the shows and county fair and the oldest, Stratton, also shows steers and
heifers. He won the Showmanship award in the Round Robin at the Larimer County Fair two years ago.
Both Stratton and Duncan have also won ribbons in various categories at the fair as well. Sydney Kate is
now in first grade, Duncan in fourth grade, and Stratton in sixth grade (beginning of middle school) at the
Windsor Charter Academy.
Our son and his family are still in the Atlanta area (Decatur GA). Mark is still a professor at Columbia
Theological Seminary, his wife is now an associate pastor for a large Presbyterian church in Atlanta, and
Logan is in 8th grade and getting ready for high school.
My husband and I have added another member to the family, a yellow lab named Kit. She’s 3 ½ years
old and her sister lives next door at my daughter’s so they have play dates every day! They have both
been excellent dogs from the beginning. They are both retrieving fools especially ours and could keep
someone busy for hours! Unfortunately, if there’s not a ball to throw, Kit gets rocks and then she
sometimes swallows them – pretty big ones at that! Everyone from friends and delivery people were
warned not to throw rocks for Kit but one got missed and it cost over $3,000.00!!! Our vet removed 91
rocks from her stomach and intestines last summer – ask me at the reunion for the complete story!!!! But
we love her!
I’m still involved with the same activities as before other than I’ve added another bridge group. The
landscaping keeps me busy but it has matured. We’re really low on moisture this year so we’re facing
drought conditions for the yard and farm unless we get some good rains now and in May like we did last
year. We had no moisture of any kind the entire month of March which is really unusual so I’ve had to
begin watering earlier!!!!

Doesn’t seem possible that we’re old enough to be celebrating our 50 graduation next year!!! Of course,
there are some days that I feel like it! It will be nice to see as many classmates as possible that are able

to attend. It certainly shocked me when I saw Robin Snider’s obituary in the Rocky Mtn. News a couple
weeks ago and I called Peggy that night.
My husband Bruce and I have been married 42 years now. We have a new address. When the city of Fort
Collins moved in on our area which had been a rural area south of Fort Collins, we got out of there! We
bought a 102 acre farm with our daughter and son-in-law where we could again live in a rural area. We’re
now just into Weld County east of Fort Collins. Our daughter, Tracie, and her husband, Shawn, bought
the existing home along with a modular home which they rent out, an animal barn, a shop building, a
machine building, and a hay barn. We bought the land and water shares. Because there was another
building envelope and water tap with the property, we were able to build our new home right next door to
them. We built basically the same home except made it a ranch with complete basement but Bruce and I
can live on the main floor if that should become necessary. We have a beautiful view of the lights of Fort
Collins and the mountains in the background. On the Fourth of July, we can sit on our deck and watch the
fireworks from Wellington to the north and moving south through the F.C. Country Club area, the city of
Fort Collins, the City of Loveland, and the city of Windsor so we get quite a show. On a clear day, we sit
high enough we can see Pikes Peak down by Colorado Springs.
My husband and I are still working but we’ve brought in a younger couple to buy out our stock in Tra Mar
Mechanical, Inc., an HVAC service and maintenance firm for commercial businesses. Even when I retire
from the office work and turn it over to the new buyer and his wife, I know Bruce will continue working - it’s
in his blood!
It’s really fun having 3 of our 4 grandchildren living right next door. Tracie and Shawn have a first grader,
Stratton Douglas Wotowey, a pre-schooler, Duncan Sadler Wotowey, and Sydney Kate Wotowey who is
1 ¾ years old. Just like her older brothers, she loves John Deere tractors, etc. and girl toys were a foreign

entity until just recently! Our son, Mark, and his wife, Lindsay, and granddaughter, Logan (in 4 grade)
now live in Atlanta. Mark is a professor of Ethics at Columbia Theological Seminary and Lindsay is pastor
of Rock Spring Presbyterian Church.
I’ve cut back on activities but remain active representing Alpha Gamma Delta on the local Fort Collins
Alumnae Council (since 1974) and I’m involved with an investment club. I also still play bridge once a
month with a group of friends from the Newcomers Group we met when we moved to Fort Collins in 1970.
With the new home, I’ve been very busy designing and planting the new landscaping - hated to leave
behind our mature landscaping but it’s been fun starting fresh. Now all we need is more natural moisture
for our irrigation and the landscape!
As of right now, I’m planning on attending the reunion next September.

April 2012:
June 9th will be our 55th wedding anniversary. We are still touring with the old cars and like traveling in
our Bounder motorhome. Haven't decided what vintage vehicle we might come in to the reunion. My
husband Kermit keeps busy working on old car projects and we have had many car club groups and
individuals come to visit to see our collection.
Our children and grandchildren like us have added another 5 years to our ages and everyone seems to
be busy. Our older son is still with Joan Hunter Ministries and our daughter Cyndy is still teaching cake
decorating classes and makign speciality cakes. Our son Robert (Bob) who lives in Lincoln has now
moved up to the office of president of the Hobbytown USA franchise company.
Update 2007:
My husband Kermit & I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary June 9 this year and traveled to Alaska.
Our children hosted a 50th anniversary party for us prior to the trip on May 9 and we left on May 16
traveling 9,967 miles and arrived back home on July 7. Alaska was the only state in US we had not been
in so it took us 50 years to visit all 50 states. We have enjoyed traveling in our motorhome since retiring,
we participate in several antique car tours each year and head for a warmer climate in the winter.
My husband Kermit has restored numerous antique cars over the years and we enjoy touring with them.
This August we will be in MN for the New London to New Brighton run in our 1911 Maxwell. The run is
120 miles that day. (You will have to wait and see what we come to the reunion in.) I like to sew vintage
looking clothes and make hats to wear that match the age of the cars we tour in.
Our oldest son Curtis lives in TX and has been traveling with the Joan Hunter Ministeries who put on
healing semminars and healing services throughout the US and in many countries. Our daughter Cyndy
is married and lives in Grand Island, Ne; her two children are 20 and 24. Cyndy is a talented artist and
cake decorator; she teaches cake decorating classes and helps her husband in his electrical business.
Our younger son Robert (Bob) and his family live in Lincoln and he is the Vice President of Hobbytown
USA, the franchise company. He also started a juice & jave store called "NuVib" in the strip mall at 70th &
Pioneer. He has two children 11 and 8 years old.

Update February 2012:
Married to classmate Yvonne Manning in September of 1961. Tom was employed by Goodyear, Lincoln,
and was drafted in June of 1963. After 2 years in the US Army, they returned to Lincoln for 6 years prior
to moving to Northern Ireland in 1971 and then to Uniontown, Ohio in 1975, where they have since lived.
They have three children all of whom are married and raising their own families and of whom they are
quite proud.
Tom Jr. with a degree in communications is employed by The Davey Expert Tree Company in their
Communication and Training Division. His wife Pam is the Director of Early Childhood Development
Programs at The Kent State University Child Learning Center. They have three children, two daughters
and a son.
Amy and her husband Chris and their two sons live in Rome Georgia, where Amy is the lead Speech
Therapist/Pathologist in the school system. Chris is a Chiropractor and recently sold his practice to a local
hospital and now directs their Physical Rehabilitation unit.
Beth and her husband Scott live in Hamilton Ohio and have three daughters. Beth is utilizing her MA in
Literature as Director of Curriculum Development for Miami University in Oxford Ohio. Scott is currently
operating as an Independent Contractor, specializing in the revitalization of deteriorating hospital
departments.
Avocations:
Tom retired in February of 2001 after 39 years with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company as a Research
Associate in the Engineered Product Division. He continues to be deeply involved in the Free & Accepted
Masons of Ohio, serving his lodge and the Grand Lodge of Ohio. He is also involved with the Scottish

Rite Masons and is currently a Presiding officer in the Valley of Canton. He was honored to receive the
Scottish Rite’s Honorary 33 rd Degree in August of 2010. He continues to enjoy woodworking and making
various items for the family and in particular, the grandchildren. Tom also continues to enjoy working on
and driving a 1949 Federal truck in local parades and national truck shows. The truck was sold by his
father to NWU in 1950 and returned into the family in 1975. Tom along with Brother Ron, LNE1955,
purchased a 1948 Federal and are in the process of restoring it.

Don and I enjoy the Pacific Northwest in Yakima, Washington. We are enjoying the wonders of
grandparenting with three, two year old grandsons. We both still have family in Lincoln and the Midwest,
so we are in the area a couple of times a year.
I am on the faculty at Yakima Valley Community College, Chair of Family and Consumer Science
Department, Teaching the Human Nutrition part of the Natural Sciences Courses. I also do counseling for
disordered eating. Don retired three years ago after thirty-three years of teaching.
We love traveling, cross-country skiing, hiking, camping, and watching the Mariners. We do hope we can
get tickets to the University of Washington and University of Nebraska football game in Seattle. Does

I will be at the Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron New Mexico. Sorry to miss everyone. It has been
another busy year. Besides my other activities with Boy Scouts, I am starting my second year as Camp
Director for Camp Cornhusker. Have a great time at the reunion.
Update 2007:
I haven’t written since the 30th reunion. Here are some thoughts and what I have been doing.
You don’t have to cross the finish line first to be a winner. Finishing one second faster than you have ever
done, or throwing one inch farther or lifting one pound more than you have ever done, makes you a
winner.
My children became successful in sports. Jandrena was the United States Women’s Power lifting
champion, the strongest girl in the world in the 132 pound class. John Jr. broke the Nebraska state
discus record and threw farther than anyone had ever thrown before in Nebraska. Scott was the United
States Race walking champion and went on to train at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs
as a teenager.
“Do Your Best” is the way they worked at what they wanted. Trying to be better day by day, they
competed with themselves for their personal best. This same attitude and drive to excel they learned
when they were young has made them extremely successful in business and family life.
Jandrena is a successful business woman, very active with the youth of Waverly Ne. and the Lincoln
Boys Choir. John Jr. is an investment banker and Vice President of United Bank of Switzerland (UBS).
Scott, buys high end property, renovates it, and then sells for a handsome profit. As you can imagine I am
very proud of my children.
I am spending most of my time working with the boy scouts these days. I spend a month sleeping in a
tent at summer camp teaching adults how to teach boys. I teach them how to light fires with no matches,
cook great meals on an open fire, find directions with a watch or stick, how to build things with lashings
and knots and a lot of other neat things boys have fun learning. The adults then teach the boys in their
troops.
I spend another month during the year camping with the scouts. I went white water kayaking with two of
my grandsons, both eagle scouts, on the Bruel River in northern Wisconsin last summer.
All the outdoor activities with scouts, is just a way to really teach them how to become good young men,
to be honorable and to do their best. The outdoors is just the classroom.

There are many other activities and positions I have in scouting. I am Vice President of Programs of the
Cornhusker Council which is responsible for all the council training, activity programs, advancement and
camping. I am definitely one of the oldest active scouter around. I understand how important the scouting
program is for the boys and our country. I get excited when I see a boy do well.
My wife, Sandie and I enjoy traveling, finding and photographing lighthouses. So far we have found 177
lighthouses, mainly in the Midwest and north east coast.
Flower gardening is also part of my activities. I have hundreds of different species. I like hibiscus quite
well and have many cultivars of the Fleming brothers. There is always something to do or change in the
yard.
I eagerly look forward to rousting out of bed each morning and taking on the day. I have so much to do
and so little time to do it.
Something to think about “YESTERDAY IS TODAY AND TODAY IS TOMORROW.”

Update 2007:
I am Joyce Kleege again. Same address, same phone number. Divorced in 2002 and due to some health
issues retired and closed my last store AMEN in 2004. After a year and a half was wooed back to work as
Executive Assistant for some friends who own a CPA firm which was quickly expanding. I know Lexy
Lou's Mom would throw up her hands if she knew I was working for an accounting firm. I am sure I turned
her hair white trying to teach me debits and credits. I have never been able to understand or put them in
the right spot. I use I owe and they owe me.
Must also say, when you have been the Captain of the boat for more than 40 years it is both a treat and a
challenge to go back to being a crew member. Once an entrepreneur always an entrepreneur mind set I
guess, because they like me and my style well enough to give me a raise, and It still amazes me that I get
a check deposited in my bank account every two weeks. Only an owner of a business will understand
that.
I just went thru the class book and many pictures brought back fond memories of Northeast High School
classmates. Hope to make it to the reunion. Notice several empty spaces. In this age everyone must have
a computer of some kind, even if they are not coming to the reunion I encourage and wish they would

(The only class that had a song written about it).
I am still living in Orlando, FL. and have for 38 years. This has been an interesting year. I have traveled
a lot. First my grandson (David III) joined the Air Force on Valentines Day this year. He went to boot
camp at Lackland AFB in San Antonio. My daughter (Angie) and I went there in April when he and over
500 others graduated. That was something to see! It was impossible to pick David out as all of them had
their heads shaved so they all looked alike. He went from there to Keesler AFB in Miss. and is now home
on leave before going to Japan.
I have been traveling with AARP to Hollywood, Miami and Key West. There were forty nine on the bus.
We enjoyed side trips to see the sights; gambling in two different casinos and a day in the Keys. The
next trip was to the west coast of FL. for three days. We also go to Hard Rock once a month in Tampa.
My granddaughter is on a traveling fast pitch team. We went to Savannah GA. and later to Atlanta.
College scouts come to see them play. She is a catcher, third baseman and outfielder. Does Nebraska
need a good player? She has three schools watching her now.
I wish I could join you all again this year but I can’t. Have a great time!

Just think, “50” years ago we said goodby to LNH and our friends.
Mel and I married that same year and moved to Florida. He re-enlisted in the USAF and we spent twenty
years in that life. We had three children: Ronald, Jerry and Angela. We then were blessed with a

daughter-in-law and a son-in-law and three grandchildren. I love being a Grandma.
I worked at KMart for twenty years, retiring in 1994. Five years later we had the sad experience of losing
our son Ron to a brain aunerysm. He was 40. In June of 2006 I lost Mel. He had been ill for quite a few
years.
I have been remodeling my house. Home Depot has become my second home. I also enjoy the “3 Bs”:
Bingo, Bowling and Bunko.
My daughter and her daughter help me make artificial flower arrangements. We love taking them to flower
shows and art shows. We call our little business “3 Generation Creations”.
I am looking forward to seeing you all in Sept.

House husband, retiree, traveler . . . life is good.
My wife, Ruth, is now Chief Operating Officer of Genesys Software Systems in Massachusetts, where she

has held a number of executive positions for the last 19 years.
Our grandchildren, Catie age 15 and Eric age 17, attend high school in Minnesota where hockey is their
passion.
In 2002, we purchased a home in Florida. In 2004, Hurricane Charlie practically destroyed the interior
requiring extensive renovation. We were in Bermuda when the hurricane hit. Our son, David, was on an
airplane the next day to board up the house, assisted the next day by our son, Jonathan. Through a good
friend, we were able to secure the services immediately of an excellent remodel contractor. One year
later, our home was as good as new.
Blessings . . . they never cease to amaze me.

Married high school sweetheart Nonie (Lincoln SE). We have two sons with two grandsons in Texas and
three granddaughters in California. In May, 1996 we moved back to Lincoln to care for my parents.
Attended UNL one year and served four years in the USAF. I was Service Manager for VW Lincoln four
years and then received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from LeTourneau University. I worked as an
Instructor for VW of America for four years, and then as an Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering
Technology at LeTourneau University for 13 years. I also was Mechanical Operations Manager and
Instructor for The Masters Mission for 10 years. I currently work at Williamsons Auto Center.
We are involved at Old Cheney Alliance Church. We have enjoyed mission trips to Africa, Holland and
Mexico.

Update 2007:
After graduation from high school, I attended college at Colorado State University (then Colorado A & M),
the University of Kansas, and University of Michigan, where I received bachelor's, Master's, and doctoral
degrees in zoology. Although I taught for a year at St. Benedict's College in Atchison, Kansas, most of my
career (32 years) was spent teaching and doing research in biological science at Humboldt State
University in northern California. I've been retired for four years and am enjoying every minute of it. Have

two kids (one 42 and one 18, the latter born when I was 49!), and two step-children. My wife and buddy,
Barbara, makes it all worthwhile.
One thing I hope to accomplish at the 50th reunion is to get Larry to reimburse me for the money he's

Jude & I are looking forward to the 55th celebration.
I’m in the 25th year of selling Real Estate here in Omaha. Jude and I celebrated our 50th wedding
anniversary this past summer. We have one daughter and two beautiful granddaughters, Ava age 6 and
Cecilia age 4. We are lucky enough to have them here in town.
I started a Non-Profit Food Bank concept in 2005. As of 2011 I have 153 videos on YouTube. You can

Update 2007:
After graduation from the Naval Academy I became a Navy Pilot. I met my first wife in Pensacola during
training. After getting my wings we moved to San Diego. I flew Helicopters. After my tour was up they
wouldn’t let me out (Vietnam and pilot shortage) so it was back to Pensacola as a Search and Rescue
pilot flying Helicopters and Sea Planes.
When I finally got out in 1968 I joined IBM (I’ve Been Moved) in Birmingham Alabama. From there it was
Endicott New York, Toledo Ohio, Greenville North Carolina and finally to Boca Raton, Florida.
My first wife and I had three children. After we divorced, I met and married Isabel, my current wife of 20
years.
IBM was downsizing in the early 90’s and I took a buy out in 1993. Isabel and I decided rather than
continue working we should just change out lifestyle. So she retired from the Palm Beach School system.
We moved to Kalispell Montana. That was just too big a change for Isabel as she was born/raised/and
lived in Florida her entire life. So eighteen months later we moved to Sarasota Florida for seven years,
and then we moved to Ormond Beach where we are now.
I am an avid cyclist riding 100 miles a week. (Recumbent Bicycle and Tricycle) Isabel plays tennis and
golf. We are extremely involved with the local Democratic Party and we travel some. I have been lucky
to have had a great life.

Update 2007:
John and I just celebrated our 20th Anniversary. The years have flown by and now my son, Jeff and his
wife, Amy have given us two grandchildren to spoil. Breanna is now 8 years of age and Tyler is 5, soon
to be 6. I retired in 2002, from Wells Fargo, Norwest, Vistar, and Citizens State Bank, and still have no
money, but lots of good memories. Maybe I shouldn’t say I retired because I am now taking care of
Breanna and Tyler. They are both energetic kids wanting to play every minute I am with them. John is

still working and helps me when he can. We spend our time gardening, some travel, going to track
meets, T-ball games, swimming practices, and just putzing around.
I’ve had a lot of fun working on the class reunions over the years, and always look forward to seeing or
hearing from everyone. Hard to believe it now is 50 years!! I don’t want to scare you with a picture of us,

Update 2007:
Married Betsy Antes on February 14, 2003 and we moved her from Tulsa, OK to Silverdale, WA (across
Puget Sound from Seattle) on the Olympic Peninsula, where I lived. We decided in 2004 to relocate to
Colorado Springs and have really loved or new home and being in Colorado. We live on the West Side on
the mesa overlooking the Garden of the Gods. Betsy and I ride a tandem bicycle for fun and exercise. I
also ride one of my mountain bikes almost every day. We travel several times a year to visit the kids and
grandkids and are really enjoying our retirement. Betsy and I really love outings in our 1929 Model A
Roadster Pick Up. I have a great time working on and maintaining this all original beauty. Life is good!

Larry and I are no longer working for Tollycraft Yachts. They have management problems and are shut
down for now. Larry just returned from Kodiak, AK were he was repairing a fishing boat.
As for me, I'm enjoying my time off from working. I belong to a bowling team with my sister-in-laws. I take
a knitting class with my daughter and have more time for my grandchildren (12 now). I'm sewing,
gardening, have lunch out with friends(often), and have more time with our pets. In other words, I'm just
enjoying life and very thankful our family is healthy and doing okay.

Update February 2012:
Married to classmate Tom Hutchins in September of 1961. Yvonne worked for Bankers Life Insurance
Company until Tom was drafted in June of 1963. After 2 years in the US Army, they returned to Lincoln
for 6 years prior to moving to Northern Ireland in 1971 and then to Uniontown, Ohio in 1975, where they
have since lived. They have three children all of whom are married and raising their own families and of
whom they are quite proud.
Tom Jr. with a degree in communications is employed by The Davey Expert Tree Company in their
Communication and Training Division. His wife Pam is the Director of Early Childhood Development
Programs at The Kent State University Child Learning Center. They have three children, two daughters
and a son.
Amy and her husband Chris and their two sons live in Rome Georgia, where Amy is the lead Speech
Therapist/Pathologist in the school system. Chris is a Chiropractor and recently sold his practice to a local
hospital and now directs their Physical Rehabilitation unit.
Beth and her husband Scott live in Hamilton Ohio and have three daughters. Beth is utilizing her MA in
Literature as Director of Curriculum Development for Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Scott is currently
operating as an Independent Contractor, specializing in the revitalization of deteriorating hospital
departments.
Avocations:
Yvonne as with most homemakers is still waiting to retire but in the meantime she can certainly be
classified as a super Grandmother and is so named by them. Besides doting on each and every one of
the eight, each grandchild gets to choose a special birthday cake each year, which she then sets about to
create just for them.
Lyons, Dogs, Cats. A Purse, Elephants, a Zebra, a volcano a space ships among others have been
created to their delight. Yvonne still enjoys cooking for family gatherings, especially the family favorites,
both her own creations and those handed down from past generations. She has compiled a complete set
of these family favorites’ recipes and provided each family a special cookbook. Yvonne also enjoys yard
work, from the mowing to tending the flowers, to which Tom does not object. She also enjoys reading and
supports Tom’s Masonic activities by attending too many dinners and also leading a group of ladies in
organizing and creating decorations for Masonic banquets.

Married to Elinor Mason. Our family is doing well and we are proud of how each of our children have
grown to be responsible and caring adults. Our son Stephen and his wife Melissa live in Chicago where
he is a stock broker. Our son Todd is single and lives in Phoenix where he is an Administrator for
American Express. Our daughter Roxana is married to Andy Pupillo and Roxana is the Business
Manager for our family business. Roxana and Andy have two daughters, Andrea 8, and Angela 1. Our
son Brad and his wife Pam live in Phoenix where he is a financial planner specializing in Living Trusts.
They have a daughter, Samantha, age 3.
We own Holiday Pools, a swimming pool company. We were hoping to attend the class reunion but June
is our peak business season. When it’s 110 degrees plus in Phoenix, everyone wants to swim in their
own pool yesterday. We wish you the greatest of reunions and a hearty party. We wish we could be there.
We have a summer home in the mountains that helps us save our sanity. Elinor almost refuses to return
to the valley until October.

It just doesn’t seem possible that 55 years ago we marched down the center aisle of Pinewood Bowl. At
the youthful age of 18 we couldn’t comprehend celebrating a 50th Reunion let alone 55. Here we are
recalling fond memories of our school days, from elementary school through our graduation day June 4,
1957. What fun!
Just this past week, the seniors at Norris High School, (Hickman), had their “sneak day”. It definitely was
different from ours in 1957. Those seniors spent their “sneak day” cleaning the City Mission! They
definitely were not at Merritt Beach (I have no idea if Merritt Beach is still there ) basking in the sun, but
instead they were giving their time to the Lincoln community.
The reunion committee is looking forward to seeing everyone at the 55th. As usual, we have a good time
planning the event with a lot of laughs and seriousness when we are advised of an illness or death. It
makes us all stop and think of the uncertainty of human life and the importance of seeing friends and
acquaintances when possible.
I also want to put in a plug for those who attended Huntington Grade School. We will have an 11:30 A.M.
lunch at The Steakhouse – 3441 Cornhusker Highway on Saturday, September 8. The cost is $10. A

When George and I travel to Bellingham, WA we now see both of our children and families. Our oldest
grandson is a sophomore and pitcher for Pacific University-OR. As I write this, his team is in first place of
their conference. Our youngest grandson is a 6’ plus freshman in high school and is quite the basketball
player. He has a talent of making three pointers. He is also playing baseball.
Being on the UNL Event Staff keeps me out of trouble. There are several Northeast alumni who are also
on the staff. We “Rockets” stick together...you know that saying “once a Rocket always a Rocket!” I enjoy
working baseball, softball, soccer, indoor track, men’s and women’s basketball. I usually sell tickets or
work at the Pass Gate. Football is out because we go to the games and I work volleyball when the match
is held at Devaney. Our out-of-town/state classmates will be amazed at the improvements as well as the
new construction going on, not just on UNL campuses but in Lincoln.
Besides traveling to the NW, NE and parts in between we enjoy putting jigsaw puzzles together. The most
challenging the better!

Update 2007:
Starlyn (Weyers, LNE 59) and I have been married for 45 years and spend a lot of our time with
grandsons Jon (13) and Joseph (9). Both boys play club soccer and basketball so we keep busy going to
games. We have lived in Albuquerque since 1969 but spend a lot of time in Phoenix, and Pagosa
Springs, Co. After 33 years at Sandia National Labs. I retired in 2002. I now keep ‘busy’ with golf and
duplicate bridge as well as trying to stay up with the numerous fix-it and yard tasks around the house.

Daryl retired July 31, 1995 after 38 years with the Burlington Northern Railroad. However, he hasn't had
the opportunity to get bored as he continued working with three companies as consultant to projects on
the railroad. He has been fortunate to keep active in railroad activities the last two years and hopes to

Update 2007:
Recollections of Fifty Years.
After graduation from Northeast in 1957,1 worked at Gold & Co. in downtown Lincoln for a year and then
worked at CenGas, also downtown until our first child was bom. John (Linhardt) and I met (while tooling
the drive-ins with the girls) in 1959 (he remembered where I worked and called me for a date) and we
were married in 1960. Our first child, Christy, was bom in 1961 and our second (and last) child, Erik was
bom in 1969. Christy married Donald Virts in 1984 and has four children, Donald Jr., age 21; Adam, age
18 (and in the National Guard at this time); Arielle, age 16, and John, age 12 Erik married Ronda
Matthews in 1996 and has three children, Dillon, age 16 (Ronda's son via a prior marriage), Doria, age
10, and Dayton, age 6. We enjoy all of our grandchildren a great deal and look forward to spending time
with them whenever possible. Christy's family moved to Montana last year so we don't get time to see
them as much as we'd like now. Erik's family lives in Gretna and he owns and operates a restaurant,
Vidlak's Family Cafe, in Bellevue. John has been in Insurance all of his working life and plans retirement
in August of this year. We have a Town home in Southeast Lincoln that we like very much.

Here we are in Colorado Springs with daughter Stephanie, her husband, and our 14 month old
granddaughter, Story.
I taught school, language arts and vocal music for 9 years. Then we moved to Chicago, and I worked as a
moving consultant for North American Van Lines for 6 years. Next in the saga, a move to Houston. My
husband, Gordon, worked as a Manager of Financial Programming with a Texas bank. My daughter,
Stephanie (born in 1969) became interested in jazz dancing and did several professional shows. I was
administrative assistant in a theatre school. Then my friend asked me to be the manager of a stuffed
animal store. That was when I started making Teddy Bears and other stuffed animals. I was listed in the
book "Who's Who in Teddy Bear Artists." Then I started my own company, Carolsue Designs.
We have bought farm land and expect to build on it within a year. I will have my studio. Our son-in-law
who is a potter will have his studio and there will be plenty of room for lots of dogs and other cute
animals. Our daughter who is a wildlife biologist will set up shop as a small animal groomer. We hope to
establish a wildlife refuge, but that's way in the future. I have always felt that we went to one of the best
high schools ever. It was a great place and so many of our teachers had a great influence on my life.

Update August 2012 :
Since last update I've been volunteering as a reading tutor in 1st grade for a grandchildren experience. I
really enjoy it since we don't have any grandchildren. Especially seeing them walk out on the last day
and thinking that I had some part of their growing up over the year. I also volunteered for 5 years
preparing tax returns for Sr. Citizens during tax season. My days are spent thinking about what to
prepare for dinner. You girls are probably thinking, "What's new about that?" and going to various
exercise classes, YMCA Strength Building, Aerobic Dance. Grocery shopping, dusting, sweeping, etc.
while Barbara works on her novel writing career. We've become great fans of Stanford University
Women's Volley Ball and Basketball. A short drive up the road with neighbors.
Oh, A year ago I learned that I'm still a Danish citizen and got a Denmark passport. 50 years ago my
sisters and I thought we lost our Danish citizenship when we became USA citizens.
Update 2007:
I am retired from the US Navy Reserve, IBM and then 10 years at other software companies here in
Silicon Valley. I'm still singing, now in Voices in Harmony, a barbershop chorus of 90 men.

Looking back over the years, I feel blessed that I am still able to continue to work. Having worked since
an early age of 12 or so delivering papers in Havelock, I find myself continuing to do so for nearly a 60
year period of time!
It is hard to imagine that after completing some 35 years in my railroad career, I now have completed 20
years of government service as a second career. My present job is with the Federal Railroad
Administration, one of several modes of the U.S. Department of Transportation. Since the passing of my
wife, Susan in 1996, I accepted a position here in Washington, D.C., and have lived in nearby Arlington,
Virginia, for the past 15 years. My job involves a great deal of travel and time on the road. I estimate I
am on the road about 23 – 24 weeks a year just with respect to my work! The work is very interesting,
and it keeps me active.
I also feel blessed to still have my Mother. Virginia continues to live in Lincoln in her home, with her dog,
Roone. She enjoys the responsibility of keeping up her home, and wants to stay there. She does a great
job in doing so. She does have Home Health Care ladies come to her home a couple hours a day to give
her dog a walk, and to do a few chores around the house when I am not there. However, I do get back to
Lincoln every month, and spend a week or so with her.
Also, I feel blessed to have two wonderful sons, Jeff and Greg. Jeff is in Olathe, Kansas, and Greg is in
Gilbert, Arizona. They both have children. Jeff has 4 daughters; Madisyn (9), Hailey (7), Callie (5) and
Kelsey(2), and they have a strong resemblance to their grand-mother. Susan. Greg has 1 daughter,
Alexandra (6), who is a precious little girl. I also try to get to their respective locations which adds to my

away from Arlington time.
And I also feel blessed to have so many wonderful memories of many of my class mates from Havelock
Elementary and Junior High, and of Northeast High School. I thank all of the members of the class that
contribute so much to ensure that we have class reunions to get to see each other every five years. Your
efforts are certainly appreciated.
I look forward to seeing each of you at our 55th Class Reunion on Friday and Saturday, September 7 and
8, 2012.

Update August 2012:
Well, it is five years later. It's amazing how fast time goes by now. Here is an update.
My daughter in Washington got divorced, moved back to Lincoln and remarried. She still works for the
Archives. My Granddaughters got married and I have one great-grandson and a great grand-daughter
that is expected in early September.

We still have our "kids", Sadie, Dori, Nicki and Bobbi. Becky has retired completely and spends most of
her time dealing with her parents and their affairs. The entire governmental old age program including
Medicare, Medicaid, VA assistance and Social Security need a complete overhaul. What a mess!! One
cannot see it unless they try to deal with it on a daily basis.
As I have gotten older, I have found that I have to modify my interests a bit. I am not as active in the
theater especially doing the heavy stuff like set building. I plan to be in a show this fall, but have curtailed
much of my activity there. I still spend time working with emergency communications and amateur radio
work. Since I have cut back on other activities, I have been able to upgrade my amateur radio license,
and I am spending more time making radio contacts around the world.
At seventy-two years of age, I don't have to tell you about my health, as it is probably about the same as
yours. It's tough getting old, isn't it? But the alternative isn't any better. If I can get up each day and do
some things I enjoy, then everything is okay.
I hope everything is okay with each of you who read this. Beck and I look forward to seeing many of you
at the reunion. Say Prayer for our country and for our soldiers overseas.
Update 2007:
My wife Becky and I have been married for 16 years. I have two daughters and one son. My first
daughter, Karen lives in Lincoln with her husband and three boys. My second daughter, Andrea lives with
her husband near Washington D.C. where she works for the National Archives. My son, Charles lives
near Columbia, Missouri where he runs a small animal auction software company. He is married and has
two daughters and a son. Becky and I currently have four "children" living at home, two Schnauzers:
Sadie and Dori, and two feline residents, Nikki and Bobbi. All are animals rescued from bad situations.
After 18 years as the Assistant Chief of the Environmental Health Division at the Lincoln- Lancaster
County Health Department, I retired in November of 2001. While with the Department I served in several
capacities including the head of the Air Pollution Control Section and the head of the Hazardous Waste
Section. I also served as the Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Coordinator and was the
Department law enforcement liaison with the State DEQ and Federal EPA. Shortly after retirement, my
wife Becky and I moved to Glenwood, Iowa to be close to Becky's parents. Becky retired from the
University of Nebraska system after 30 years of service on the UNL, UNO and UNMC campuses. She
currently works part time at a bank here in Glenwood.
Interests: I spend much of my time doing activities with the Mills Masquers, the local community theatre
group. My activities have included assisting with set building for five productions and providing lights and
sound for nine productions. I had fun performing in seven productions including "Joseph and the Amazing
Technicolor Dreamcoat", "The Music Man", "West Side Story" and "Paint Your Wagon" and most recently
"You Can't Take It With You." In addition, I produced "The Mouse That Roared" and directed a play
called "Wanda's Visit." I am a past member of the Mills Masquers Board of Directors. I am an active
amateur radio operator and serve as the Mills County Amateur Radio Emergency Service Coordinator. I
am also a volunteer deputy with the Mills County Emergency Management/ Homeland Security Agency.
The rest of my time I spend taking care of Becky's parents, occasionally traveling to see the kids, working
around the house with various projects, or working on an occasional church project.
(Hey, where did my fishin' time go?) It's a good thing I don't have to go back to work. I couldn't find the
time.
September is not far off. As of now, I plan on being at the reunion. Keep our classmates who have gone
from us in your heart. Pray for the less fortunate and for our country. And finally, live each and every day

I came back home to care for my mother after my father passed away. I renewed a friendship with Carol
who went to Fairbury High during the same years we were in school. We got married and I have relocated
in Fairbury. Carol has a day care center so you all know I have to supervise. It's a job I wouldn't wish on
anybody.
I retired from Consolidated Freightways after 30 years and over 4 million accident free miles on the road.
It's great to be back among friends and schoolmates. Wish we could get together more often. Northeast
three-peated. Let's go for four. God bless all of you. Maybe every summer we could have a giant picnic at

Have been married to Ron Nolan (Middletown OH) for 42 years. We divide our time between our farm in

Louisburg KS and a condo on the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City. After graduating from U of N, I
taught math at Cherry Creek HS in Denver for 3 years, then moved to KC with Hallmark for the next 31
years. Hallmark provided terrific business experience and US and international travel, as I spent my time
managing product development teams. After retirement in 1998, I because president of Peruvian
Connection, knitwear catalogue company based near KC, for the next 5 years. Made many trips to Peru,
Bolivia, and the UK as part of the job, and loved each one.
Now I am doing strategic planning consulting at KU Hospital and for a non-profit in Nairobi that serves
refugee girls. These and other volunteer duties sometimes cut into my golf game. Have retired from the
competitive sailing circuit, but Ron continues. Am studying Spanish, painting, playing the piano,
entertaining and traveling.

Update April 2012:
I am still teaching State of Iowa classes at two community colleges. With the time I spend with my special
granddaughter, teaching and keeping house I manage to keep busy.
I lost my wife in 2010, so my grandchildren are the light of my life. I have five living in the Des Moines
area. We have Friday suppers and Sunday dinner with as many as I can round up. Grandpa’s house is
the center of activity on those occasions. It turns out I am not such a bad cook.
My oldest daughter Anne and granddaughter Jesse live in Lincoln. We exchange visits several times a
year. Cathy and Cindy live in Denver, so I seldom see them.
The 55th reunion is on my calendar and I do intend to be there. I am looking forward to seeing many not
so familiar faces.

Update 2007:
I'm a retired Physical Therapist that worked as the Director of Rehab Services at Wesley Medical Center
in Wichita Ks. for the last 17 years of my career until I retired in 1994. After I retired, I moved back to
Nebraska and my Elkhorn address and phone number are correct. My wifes name is Patty and we have 4
children, Brad, Nadia, Kim & Brian. We also enjoy 6 grandchildren, 3 girls & 3 boys. They keep us pretty
busy. Our youngest son Brian is a Marine and just safely returned from a tour in Iraq, thank God. Our
oldest daughter, Nadia just had identical twin boys and I had Total Hip Replacement surgery in
November. Too many years of snow skiing. Everyone is doing fine, LIFE IS GOOD and I guess that's all
for now. So as the Pat Boone song says, "See You In September"

My husband Chuck and I have just recently celebrated 39 years of marriage. We have 3 children, 2 boys
and a girl, all happily married. We have 5 grandchildren. The oldest, a girl, is 7 years old. The youngest is
almost 2.
We settled in Colorado Springs after traveling around in the Air Force for 12 years. We have been here in
Colorado for about 28 years.
It's hard to believe 40 years have passed since graduating, I'm actually going to meet some old
acquaintances. Times have really changed so much since we graduated. It's hard to believe how much.
I'm thinking about the things we did and the things that kids do today. It's always nice to come home–

Married to Lois (Pearson) Steyer since 1969 (43 years). Daughter Kristin married Jeroen Oomen in 2000
and they live in Lincoln.
Shortly after graduating I went into the Navy and after electronics and submarine training served aboard
the USS Wahoo (SS-565) out of Pearl Harbor until 1962.
After working in the commercial fire alarm industry since 1962 at Notifier Co., I retired from Spectronics
Corp. in 2010. Retirement is great... but too many projects.
Lois has worked in the insurance and financial industries and now works for the State of Nebraska DHHS.
We still have our 80 acre farm which is a nice get-a-way. Lois and I are Amateur radio operators (Hams)
and many weekends are spent participating in public service events. During storm season I am storm

spotting somewhere on a hill top when called out.

The last reunion I was working at Alexander and Alexander, Inc. Because of downsizing, I left at the end
of September. 1995. I am now the receptionist at the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce; a fun and
interesting job. I thought I knew a lot about Lincoln before I started, but have learned lots and lots and still
there are new questions.
I enjoy walking my dog, Paddy (a miniature Schnauzer), and working in the yard. I also like to read. I don't
golf as much as I once did, but I still like to golf when I get the opportunity. It has been great fun working
on the Reunion Committee.

TN - no children, but she and husband, Joey Powell, have animals, and volunteer with the Juvenile
Diabetes Foundation. Amy also is a Pampered Chef Coordinator. Keri is Vice President of Public
Relations for LGA Advertising Agency in Charlotte, VA. Keri and Jeff Drake have two daughters, Luci age
8 and Opal Grace 2 1/2. Jeff Drake is a TV Producer. Tim, our son, has three daughters, Anna -12, Mary 9 and Claire -7. He is a Project Architect for STA Group LLC, in Chicago IL. We enjoy our 6 Grands and
marvel at how smart they are. - - Ha! Ha!
Occupation: Larry and I both retired Sept. 30, 2005. As an Executive Assistant, I worked for a nationally
known engineering and architectural firm, Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc., and for the previous 20
years.Larry was in Sales Management in the flavor industry after receiving his MBA at the University of
Chicago.
Interests: We spend the summer in Libertyville IL and the winter at our home in Nokomis, FL. We enjoy
reading, gardening, travelling, hiking, church choir, volunteering and interacting with our grandchildren.
We have volunteered with the U.S. Forest Service in many locaations - Larry in the Olympic National
Forest in Washington State, both of us in the Selway Bitterroot Wilderness Area in Idaho, and Larry in
The Apostle Islands National Lakeshore in Lake Superior for the past three years. I have volunteered
close to home and packed boxes of food for the Feed My Starving Children organization (FMSC.org) and
also other projects through the Libertyville United Methodist Church. Larry has also volunteered with
Habitat for Humanity in Venice FL.

Divorced 2001. Presently live with significant other Joyce Breen. Retired from General Scientific
Corporation in June 2003. Kids: Garrett vonBergen (22) lives and works in Shingle Springs, CA. Courtney
vonBergen (21) - Senior (Honor student) Cal-Poly, San Luis Obispo, CA. Plays the tenor sax in the CalPoly Marching Band - just like Dad used to do at LNE.
Traveling to multiple locations in South America and Mexico for the last three years. Boating and camping
in local lakes and rivers. Did the splits bare foot water skiing in 2005....sold my water skis !! Unity church
volunteer projects. Member: Elks Club, Fleet Reserve Association (FRA), and Sacramento Spiritual Life
Center (Unity).

J. Branch Walton. Living in Weston, Florida (near Ft Lauderdale) for past 9 years. Retired from the U. S.
Secret Service and in several positions since then including faculty at Indiana University, President of the
National Association for Bank Security, Director of Corporate Security for Cummins Engine Company,
and at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center at Brunswick, GA. Currently am a contract instructor
for several DHS funded programs around the country. Have three grown daughters with their own families
in the Midwest. Married to Debra Boles of Columbus, Indiana who retired from Cummins Engine
Company.
Now employed part time by Henley Putnam University and the Miami Police Training Center. I retired
from the US Secret Service in 1988 and later from Cummins Engine Company where I was the Director of
Corporate Security. I also taught full time at Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana and the Federal Law
Enforcement Training Center at Glynco, Ga. I remarried 11 years ago. My three daughters and their
families live in Pittsburg, Ks., Gillespie, Il and Springfield, Mo

Married to wife Carolyn Welty. Both parents live in Lincoln, as does my sister.
Retired from the Navy in '81 and US Civil Service in May '95. I now have reached my lifetime goal...being
a dependent. My wife Carolyn, a Wyoming transplant, lived near Johnston, NE when we met. Her dad
was a rancher there. She was an RN working for the local hospital, and I was working for the Nebraska
State Patrol for a year before I rejoined the Navy in '63. She works for Sacred Heart Hospital here in
Pensacola.
Still toot the trumpet nearly every day for self enjoyment... no one else can stand to listen to it. Active in
the Naval Cyptologic Veterans Association. Enjoy Hunting.

April 2012:
My wife Mary and I have been married for 18 years. I have three children: Tracy, Todd and Amy. Mary
has a son, A.J. Schuman. All the kids attended L.N.E. and are grown and on their own. We have 6
grandchildren ranging from ages 8 months to 24 years, all live in or around Lincoln.
My wife and I both retired from Aliant Communications (Lincoln Telephone & Telegraph) in November of
1997. Mary worked part-time at State Farm Insurance and retired in 2011. We currently get our exercise
mowing three yards in the summer, snow blowing three yards in the winter, and following the grandkids in
their special moments.
We are both enjoying retirement. We have traveled to 48 of the 50 states. We are planning on traveling
to Virginia and West Virginia in the near future. We enjoy golfing, fishing and working in the yard and
gardening. We enjoy going to movies, playing cards and board games, going to garage sales and, of
course, visiting with friends. We have remodeled our home and are planning on staying in Lincoln.

Married to Judy Wuster for 7 years. I have two sons; Trent (wife Beckie) with one son, Tristan. Trent is in
graduate school at C.U. pursuing a degree in English. My second son Tracy is a junior at Evergreen State
College in Washington. My wife Judy has four children and four grandchildren.
I'm in the lawn business–14 years. Judy is a bookkeeper at St. Mary's Hospital–17 years.
Still active in golf, playing most weekends in golf tournaments from April to October. Senior Golf
Chairman for Western Slope Chapter of the Colorado Golf Association.
