Tuition for Arts Guild activities are among the lowest in town! Our rates are
competitive and reflect our focus on quality instruction. Our teachers are K-12
certified art educators and/or professional artists. And remember, many families
can claim children’s fine arts classes as educational expenses on income taxes!

Anna Lisa Rustad majored in music at St. Olaf College and received her Masters
in Teaching from St. Thomas University. Anna Lisa is a certified Music Together
instructor. She also teaches piano and plays fiddle with Scandium, a
contemporary Scandinavian folk band.
Kelly Lynn Stanton-Nutt is better known as "Ms. Kelly" by her students. She has
been teaching Art at St. Dominic School for the past five years. She was a graphic
designer for several years before getting her MS in Art & Design Education from
Pratt Institute.
Laura Goodwin grew up in Northfield and attended classes at the Arts Guild as
youngster. She is a Rhode Island School of Design graduate, who taught in RISD's
children's program. Laura's journey into the field of autism began after a family
member was diagnosed on the autism spectrum. Laura currently works as educational assistant at NHS in the autism program.
Riki Kölbl Nelson is co-founder of Penchant, a poetry writing/critique group of
many years, and is included in its four anthologies. Her individual poetry volume,
Borders/Grenzen comprises work in English and German, as well as her own illustrations. She has taught a number of writing and art workshops over decades.
Shari Setchell is a certified Global Somatics Practitioner and applies somatic
training in her ballet instruction. Shari is choreographer for Northfield High
School’s Rock and Roll Revival and has choreographed several other area shows.

Amy Haslett-Marroquin has
loved working at YPTW for the past
six summers. During the school
year she works at Prairie Creek
Community School as a second and
third grade teacher. Outside of the
classroom, her time is filled with
garden work, writing, biking and
family.
Ann Gregory-Bjorklund has been teaching
YPTW for 18 years. A Luther College graduate,
she has toured Germany, Japan, Alaska,
Australia, South Korea, Okinawa, Taiwan,
Indonesia and the Philippines with the USO.
Beth Breiland has been teaching YPT for 8
years. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree
in Language Arts from St. Olaf College. Currently, she teaches and directs at
Farmington High School.
Bob Gregory-Bjorklund has a BA in Speech/Theater, English and Education,
with graduate work in teaching voice. He directs several choirs in Northfield and
the Twin Cities area, and is a teacher and arts coordinator for Arcadia Charter
School.
Christine Kallman is a playwright, poet, lyricist, and musician. This will be her
tenth season on the YPT teaching/directing staff.

T. McKinley teaches English and
theater at Shattuck-St. Mary’s. He has
been involved in YPTW as a writer,
teacher, director, and parent for more
than ten years.

Young People’s Theater
Workshop

Now celebrating our 25th year! Our staff
of theater artists is excited to lead young
students in this unique experience of
creating an original production!
Workshop mornings are filled with
classes in creative dramatics and dance.
In the afternoon, participants take part
in writing, rehearsing and performing
an original script. The YPT Workshop
will culminate with live performances
for the public on the last two days of the
session. Students are asked to bring bag
lunches.

Painting at Parkview
Art for Home Schoolers
Ages: 50+
In this class students explore their
preferred medium -- watercolors,
acrylics, oils, pastels, color pencils and
work on various projects over the course
of 4 weeks. The instructor will provide
ideas, feedback, and individually tailored
direction. Beginners are welcome!
Ages: 7-12
Come study our world through the eyes of
artists and craftsmen throughout time
and place! We will introduce young
artists to fascinating facts and interesting
art based on past cultures from around
the world. Travel back in time to learn
about day-to-day life and traditions that
shaped the art created, and then emulate
those skills in your own work. A postcard
will be available with quick facts and
on-line resources will keep the creative
adventure going between classes.

What a Rush! - Art of Early Russia
Nature and Geometry play a big part in
Early Russian folk art. We’ll decorate
eggs with intricate designs- (eggs were
thought to be a part of ancient
ceremonies). Then we will stitch brightly
colored designs inspired by the ornate
embroidery work.
Dates: June 3 & June 10
Dance Theater Company
Ages: 10+
This six week session will include
technique class and choreography. We
will also create pieces to be performed
on Bridge Square on July 25th. All
levels are welcome! If you have not yet

Prerequisite: Ballet 3
This class level builds on the physical
and mental strength developed in Ballet
3. Additionally, exercises developed to
strengthen the feet and legs as a
preparation for pointe work will be
introduced. The study of pointe work
begins after a student has acquired
proper placement and a considerable
amount of strength on demi-pointe.

Moor!, Moor!, Moor! – The Art of
Early North Africa and Southern
Spain.
Examine the geometric tile designs of
Morocco as inspiration for your own
work. Weave on a mini loom to
understand the art of rug making. Build a
mini clay column head like those of early
Southern Spain.
