Grades 6 to 8
This art based program will
teach each student the materials; vocabulary, design and
“hands on” know how it takes
to create their very own beautiful mosaic piece of artwork.
Students will learn the basics
of design by creating their
plan using cut pieces of paper
to represent what their final
artwork will look like. Once
they have a design, students
will begin to use real tiles and
grout along with “found objects “ to create a one of a kind
mosaic piece We will also set
broken dishes and glass beads
into a glue/plaster base on the
back of a tile. This makes for a
safe adhesive for kids and the
back of the tile being unglazed
is a great surface. Students
will walk away with a piece
of artwork that will make a
beautiful decor piece for many
years to come.
