A Message from the Superintendent
Summer is here - a great time to spend time with family, go on
vacation or just spend more time outside. There are a lot of
wonderful activities for children during this time of the year some
of which charge a fee, but many are free of charge. Having fun
during the summer in San Diego doesn't require a lot of money. In
fact, many things to see and enjoy in San Diego are absolutely free.
With 70 miles of beautiful beaches, near-perfect weather and a
variety of summer street fairs, concerts and arts and cultural events,
San Diego offers a fun and inexpensive summer getaway. For
example, you can:
•
•
•
•
•
•
Spend time at the Boys and Girls Club of National City
Join the festivities at National City’s Fourth of July
celebration at Kimball Park
Enjoy one of San Diego's 33 beaches, all open to the public
Visit Seaport Village
Bike, walk or jog along Mission Bay Park's many trails
Visit the Old Town State Historic Park, San Diego's first
"downtown."
Have a wonderful summer with your friends and family.

Calendar Highlights for 2015-2016 School Year:
Measure N
In November, the voters
approved Measure N -- a bond
which will be used to improve
the facilities at each of our ten
elementary
schools.
This
summer the work will begin at
all ten schools to improve the
speed and dependability of the
Internet connections at each
school. In addition, Central,
Ira Harbison, El Toyon and
Lincoln Acres Schools will be
getting the electrical upgrades
and the installation of air
conditioning
in
every
classroom. Due to the nature
of the work that will be done at
those four schools, students
will not begin the new school
year until August 31 at those
four schools.
