Job description for Assistant Director IT & Training Job Title: Reporting to: Assistant Director (IT & Training) Director IT The role: NUML is looking for experienced, energetic and result oriented individuals. Primary role of Assistant Director IT & Training is to Implement and exercise functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of projects within area of assigned responsibility. Provides training to all stakeholders of university over the latest or any already deployed technology for their optimal usage. What you will do: Develops, implements, and maintains University’s IT policies, directives, and standards aimed at maximizing effectiveness and minimizing downtime of IT systems. Assist to ensure that all information systems and networks are established and operating according to best practices and to internal and external standards. Assists in developing and implementing short and long-range plans, conceptual designs, and capital outlay (budget) requirements and documentation for assigned area(s). Oversees the development, maintenance, and communication of systems documentation, policies, and procedures relating to needs specific to assigned area (s). Defines service level targets and agreements with the university user community and assure that the service level agreements (SLAs) are met. Reviews cost factors and estimates used in planning, organizing, and scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost effectiveness under the guidance. Provides strategic and tactical planning, development, evaluation, and coordinator of the infrastructure technology systems in support of the university’s mission. Designing and launching the technological training to all stakeholders as per the requirement and documentation of all procedure for operating the online applications. Reviews and recommends approval of all hardware and software acquisition and maintenance contracts, soliciting involvement and participation of other management team members as appropriate. Evaluates systems to measure their success. Drafting and noting as per the University’s standard under the guidance of Director IT Assist in Understands, researches, and develops infrastructure requirements for growing academic and research environments. Ensures that proper documentation is in place for the university’s technology infrastructure and processes to provide for efficient operation of department at all times. Stays current with advances and trends in technology, as well as legislation related to technology that might affect the security and network services that IT provides. Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems. Knowledge of Learning Management System and its execution/implementation in distance education fashion. Complies with all Govt. policies and PPRA. Other duties may be assigned. Ability to communicate technical topics to non-technical personnel Strong knowledge of security standards Ability to handle multiple priorities Strong customer service orientation Strong communication skills Strong inter-personal skills Willingness to work out of hours to support the system Conflict management skills Pleasant personality Education and/or Experience: 16 Years degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent qualification from a University recognized by the HEC 03 - 04 years relevant post qualification work experience Experience in relevant field of Training as well as in web-designing for documentation will be added advantage.
