The world’s first interactive digital healthcare event, Digital Health Live, opens
its door at Dubai’s World Trade Center
Dubai, UAE, 5th May 2015: Opening its doors today to visitors and industry experts from around the
world, Digital Health Live Event 2015, is the world’s first interactive digital healthcare conference and
exhibition. The event is set to get industry and public pulses racing as it marks the pinnacle of a new era
in digital healthcare.
Making its debut, the three-day event welcomed His Excellency Engineer Essa Al Haj Al Maidoor,
Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA). Accompanied by the event’s organizer nuviun’s
CEO, Dr. Tamer Shahin; Chief Innovations Officer Omran Al Hashemi; and Erfan Al Hashemi, Chief
Strategies Officer; the delegation also included a number of high ranking officials.
During the tour, His Excellency experienced first-hand the future of healthcare technology, including the
advanced digital home of tomorrow. He tried the smart mirror that can display BMI, blood pressure and
an analysis of mood. He also tested the intelligent fridge that, depending on the ingredients present,
can recommend recipes, offer calorie information, tell you what to eat according to dietary
requirements, as well as warning the user when they are running low on certain ingredients.
Looking at the broader implications of digital healthcare on the nation’s healthcare infrastructure and
society benefits, the expo also showcases technologies in Digital Hospitals and Digital Cities. The largescale impact of health technologies can have far-reaching benefits for citizens and healthcare systems.
Digital healthcare encourages different technologies to talk to one another, driving continuity of care,
reducing care gaps and ensuring preventative care is initiated earlier.
Speaking at the event, that is aimed to be a platform to spur a digital health revelation in the UAE, His
Excellency Engineer Essa Al Maidoor, Director-General of the DHA, said: “Digital Health Live marks a
major milestone for the UAE, positioning us at the forefront of healthcare innovation in the region. The
joint collaboration allows us to not only experience new technologies, but also to talk candidly with
healthcare and IT leaders on the real issues affecting our society and healthcare systems.”
Dr. Tamer Shahin said advancements in digital health technologies is the way forward and not only helps
in the advancement of the health sector and better patient outcomes but also helps stimulate UAE’s
inbound and outbound medical tourism sector.
“The benefit of digital healthcare and medical tourism is two-fold. Advancement in technology in our
home country helps in the growth of medical tourism and is beneficial for both residents and visitors as
they have access to high level of healthcare services,” he said.
