Dear Instructors, Competitors and spectators,
It is my pleasure to announce the 42ndAnnual NW Martial Arts Championship featuring Oregon State Taekwondo Hanmadang
to be held at Mt. Hood Community College.
This is our annual event, which started in 1975 by our beloved Grandmaster Tae Hong Choi, as he introduced WTF Taekwondo
to Oregon. This traditional event has been attended by many of the school in the Pacific Northwest and World renowned
competitors, and it has brought many of the Masters, instructors, students and spectators together to share in the matter of
camaraderie and the experience of competitors.
For the second year, we are proud to be featuring the official Oregon State TKD Hanmadang. The emphasis of Hanmadang is
to congregate the whole family and groups of students in a festive matter to compete to maintain the Martial Arts tradition of
TKD and open opportunities for TKD practitioners of all ages and skill levels to perform.
It is now my honor to continue the tradition and carry on the legacy of our tournament and the movement of TKD. And with
your continuous support, we will work hard to offer the most positive experience for all. Good luck!

Twelve and older, Black Belt divisions, will be able to use the Daedo system. Limited number of Daedo socks will be
available at the event. There will be a $20 Daedo hogu rental fee for black belt divisions. To ensure availability you
may order ahead of time by emailing: [email protected] at least a week prior to tournament.

More than 200 divisions provide fairness and safety. Additional divisions will be added for events exceeding the
maximum number of participants. The tournament director has the right to change any division at his discretion. Fees
will be collected during event.

Olympic-style medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and two 3rd place winners. Trophies will be awarded to Demo Team Event.
Top Scoring school will be awarded $300.

I, the undersigned, do hereby voluntarily participate in the 42nd Annual NW Martial Arts Championship featuring Oregon State Taekwondo Hanmadang, being held on April 25, 2015 at
Mt. Hood Community College. I assume full responsibility for any and all damages, injuries, deaths, or losses which I may sustain or incur while attending or participating. I hereby waive
all claims against the tournament director, sponsors, officials, and individuals for injuries including their sole or partial negligence on their part which I may sustain. I fully understand
that my application fee is non-refundable. I consent that any picture furnished by me or any pictures taken of me in connection with the tournament can be used for publicity, promotion, or
television showing; and I waive all compensation in regard thereto. I further acknowledge that this martial arts competition is dangerous and can result in injury. I am not entering this
competition in reliance on any written or oral representations by Choi’s Taekwondo Academy, LLC, Hung Choi, MHCC, or the Northwest Black Belt Association regarding the applicable
rules and qualifications for the judges and referees. I am in good health and physical condition to participate in this tournament. I have read and understand the above agreement.
