AS PART OF ANZAC DAY THIS YEAR,
THE NEW ZEALAND DEFENCE FORCE
IS RUNNING OPERATION ANZAC SPIRIT
2015, A COMPETITION FOR STUDENTS
UP TO YEAR 10.
This year’s theme is The Spirit of the Anzacs in Modern New Zealand.
From teamwork to working for good, fighting for a cause to representing
New Zealand – this theme opens up a world of creative possibilities for you
to re-interpret what made the Anzacs great, and how this is shown today.
HOW TO ENTER
ENTRY CRITERIA
We have two categories you can enter:
• The competition is open to school children up to Year 10
• Please include your names, ages, addresses, contact phone
numbers, email addresses, and the name of your school with each
entry submitted
• The deadline for entries is 25 April 2015
• We would like to be able to use entries and the names of the
winning students for publicity purposes • Entries may not be returned

POSTER
Design a poster showing The Spirit of the Anzacs
in Modern New Zealand. Individual entries only are
accepted in this category, can be in the medium of
your choice (drawing, painting, collage etc), and up
to A3 in size. These will need to be paper-based.
VIDEO
We have also created a video category – allowing
you the freedom to create a short video that shows
The Spirit of the Anzacs in Modern New Zealand.
Each entry is open to groups of up to four students,
and can be in the film medium of your choice
(eg – live-action, drawn animation, stop-motion
animation etc). Videos should be no longer than
3 minutes, and submitted in a web-playable format
(ie – something that can be uploaded to YouTube)
on a CD / DVD.
Entries close on 25 April 2015.
JUDGING
• Poster entries will be judged by CAPT Matt Gauldie, NZDF Artist,
with one overall winner being announced and three runners-up.
• Video entries will be pre-judged by NZDF before being uploaded
to the NZDF YouTube Channel and opened to public vote.
Following the public vote, the top five most ‘liked’ videos will be
judged by Chief of Defence Force and an industry expert (to be
announced) with one entry being judged as the winner. We’ll let
finalists know when the judging starts so you can tell your friends!
• Winners will be notified on 11 May 2015.
• Winners will each receive a prize pack valued up to $500. Details
to come!
