OUR SHIPYARDS HAVE IMMENSE
POTENTIAL. WE KNOW HOW TO
USE IT – TO YOUR ADVANTAGE.
Increased oil and gas mining, a growing number of wind farms, as well as the gradual economic growth and the
development of maritime freight, offer new opportunities to our clients, but they also bring forth new challenges.
More often than not, the productive potential of individual shipyards is not enough to overcome these challenges.
The dynamic growth of the offshore industry, building highly specialized vessels, as well as complex conversions and
maintenance require mutual cooperation from numerous entities, which in turn makes it easier to meet the clients'
growing expectations in this increasingly competitive market.
That is why we strive to combine and improve various aspects and operations of our shipbuilding entities. Increasing
the level of collaboration among the MARS companies will allow our clients to face the ever-growing challenges
more efficiently and effectively, all through the use of three crucial assets: the people and their technical expertise,
past accomplishments, as well as the robust production facilities. All of the above at a fair price, with the utmost
standards of diligence and quality.
These are the motivations behind creating the MARS Shipyards and Offshore Group.

WITH THE BIGGESTS
EUROPEAN PLAYERS.
Polish companies operating within the MARS S&O
group have been competing in the international
offshore market for only several years but have
nonetheless managed to establish a solid reputation,
carrying out contracts for the biggest and most
demanding clients – leading offshore and subsea
companies. They have gone through successful
auditing and possess all the necessary certification,
confirming the high quality of their work, such as the
qualified supplier status for Aker Solutions or FMC
Technologies. The FMC Technologies weldment
certificate offers the chance to cooperate with every
single branch of the global concern.

steel constructions enabling the installation of devices

towers for laying out elastic pipelines along the seabed to
be installed aboard the PLSV twin vessels
fully equipped main platform decks.
ONE OF THE WORLD’S
MOST ADVANCED
VESSELS IN ITS CLASS IS
BEING BUILT AT ONE OF
OUR SHIPYARDS
Apart from ship renovation, modification and modernization, the MARS S&O group shipyards carry
out construction work as well. The docks and slipways serve as construction and staging areas for
new, technologically advanced vessels.
Among them are two innovative art science and research vessels, commissioned by the Gdańsk
University Institute of Oceanography and University of Gothenburg. These contracts represent the
cooperation between the shipbuilding industry and academic community.
Oceanograf is a 40 m long and 14 m wide catamaran. Due to the highly advanced equipment, it will be
one of the most sophisticated vessels of its type in the world.
Second research vessel (45 m long) will provide the university with a super-modern marine
laboratory. It will make it possible to study large-scale processes, such as how changes in the climate
affect ocean currents and pH values, which in turn affect marine life.
The MARS S&O group shipyards
also built a partly equipped Platform
Supply Vessel (intended for servicing
oil rigs). It was commissioned by a
Norwegian seafaring company.
Highly advanced trawlers are also
being built for the demanding
Norwegian and Danish shipowners.
In 2014 MSR Gryfia launched two river
icebreakers (one frontal and one
linear). Both ships will carry out their
work on the Oder River.

Even with the rapidly growing offshore services market, vessel renovations, repurposing and
modernization are still the fundamental activities of the MARS group shipyards. Owing to their vast
experience and well deserved acclaim, they continue to carry out maintenance and renovation work
for customers satisfied with the high quality of their services. The shipyards carry out comprehensive
class and post-damage renovations on various merchant vessels (container ships, dry and liquid bulk
carriers, reefer ships), trawlers and offshore vessels. They offer complex welding, electrical,
maintenance, fitting and hull services. They repair engines and power generators, exchange
pipelines in engine rooms, storage tanks and on deck, as well as onboard equipment, radio and
navigational devices.
The wide array of available renovation works is made possible by the experienced crew and the
suitable equipment they use. The dry docks are able to house and renovate vessels of up to 379 m in
length and 70 m in width or easily allow double docking.

THE GROWING MILITARY CONTRACTS
MARKET PRESENTS US WITH BOTH
A CHALLENGE AND AN OPPORTUNITY
Two of the MARS S&O companies, Gdynia-based Nauta and MSR Gryfia with its shipyards in
Szczecin and Świnoujście, have considerable know-how and experience in construction of
vessels for navy and coast guard as well as in rendering a variety of services for Polish
and other navies. The companies are one of the key maritime defence service providers
in Poland.
MARS S&O shipyards cater for the requirements of even the most demanding customers
by offering unparalleled flexibility, expertise and technical solutions necessary to manage
all types of refits, upgrades, conversions and life extensions of navy vessels. They also
have a proven track record in construction of certain types of vessels for military purposes.
,,
Ministry of Defence is one of our most important customers.
We appreciate this cooperation and work hard to get ready for
the next projects. To this end, we not only collaborate within
the MARS S&O but we also actively seek new opportunities
of cooperation with foreign partners to allow the transfer
of the state-of-the-art technologies. This will enable
us to do even more sophisticated projects, both for
navies and civilian customers.

Naval Production, Nauta
The first vessel built and delivered by NAUTA to the Polish Navy was ORP Mewa minesweeper, which
took place back in 1935. After the World War II NAUTA specialized in production of auxiliary naval
vessels such as tugs. Many of these vessels were built for the Polish Navy.
Apart from the co-operation with Polish Navy for many years NAUTA conducted repairs and
conversions of the auxiliary and landing ships of the Soviet and Russian Navy. Works were performed
on board such vessels as: hydrographical vessels, research vessels, electric power station,
intelligence ships, floating workshop, training ship, landing ships, degaussing vessel and others.
Among the MSR Gryfia's newbuildings there is a series of eight modern vessels built for Norwegian
Coast Guard designed as general purpose vessels for the protection of coastal waters. Ships were
specifically designed to undertake rescue operations as well as environmental protection work.
Located close to the Naval Port, MSR Gryfia's Świnoujście shipyard is a perfect place for carrying out
all kinds of projects for the Polish Navy.
The modernization program of the Polish Navy assumes substantial investments within the years to
come. Apart from the repair works on board the existing vessels the new vessels including
submarines and mine hunters are to be introduced.
Having the above in mind, Nauta and MSR Gryfia are in the process of creating a strong production
center capable of satisfying the needs of Polish Navy, with adequate production potential and strong
financial standing.
In preparation to carry out projects for the
naval forces, we have entered into
cooperation with strategic partners,
whose experience and technologies can
act as support in project management and
the transfer of innovative technologies.
MARS S&O is also involved in technical
dialogue with the Ministry of National
Defense. We also cooperate with
research, development and education
institutions with the goal of introducing
innovative solutions for military purposes.
In 2012 Nauta successfully completed
repair works on board patrol vessel NoCGV
Barentshav belonging to Norwegian Coast
Guard. This is the first step of our strategy
to provide services for NATO navies
