Oak Crest Middle School Michelle McNeff, Counselor 2014-2015 What we want Oak Crest 8th grade students to know after today: High school selection process Introduction to high school graduation and college requirements Start thinking about your future - options after high school Best practices for second semester to prepare for high school High School Selection All 8th grade students must select a high school between the dates of February 2 – March 2 by 4pm on www.sduhsd.net. OC student options are: LCC, SDA, CCA or TP To make an informed decision, plan to attend the choice nights at any school you are considering. High School Choice Nights: SDA: February 19th CCA: February 24th LCC: February 25th TP: February 26th High School Selection Continued On March 20th you will receive email notification on the high school you will be attending. Pay attention to advertised dates for 8th Grade Parent & Student Night at your high school that will occur in March & April – plan to attend. Be sure to follow the guidelines and deadlines for course selection that are given to you. * Know beforehand how to access your Aeries* High School Graduation Requirements Students must earn 230 credits LCC: 30 credits per semester, 60 credits per year SDA: 40 credits per semester, 80 credits per year Students must pass the CA High School Exit Exam The CAHSEE is given in the 10th grade Students must pass Integrated Math 1 Integrated Math 1 is most often taken in the 9th grade Graduation Requirements 230 credits in the following subject areas: History/Social Science English Math Science Visual or Performing Art PE (health req’t met by taking Year One PE) Career Technical Education Electives Total *10 credits = one year 30 credits 40 credits 30 credits 20 credits 10 credits 20 credits 10 credits 70 credits 230 credits “A-G” Subject Requirements for CSU/UC Schools A. Would you like to participate in high school sports? Maintain C grades or higher to be eligible for Fall sports!
