AQHA Leveling Program at the 2015 Redbud Spectacular In an effort to level the playing field by allowing more exhibitors and horses to compete with others of comparable experience and profieciency, AQHA has established its Leveling Program, which went into full operation in January of 2014. Overview of Leveling Leveling is done on a class by class basis. The number of points needed to pass from one level to the next, is based on either the horse’s or the rider’s cumulative points in that class (in any division) over the previous 3 years. In Amateur and Youth Divisions, levels are based on the exhibitor’s points. In Open Division, the levels are based on the horse’s points, with the exception of Halter, Speed Events, and Cattle Classes, which will be based on exhibitor points. There are 4 layers to the Leveling. The first is Rookie. There are no Rookie classes held at the Redbud Spectacular. The next is Level 1 (formerly Novice or Green), followed by Level 2 (formerly Intermediate or Progressive, and finally Level 3 (fomerly Open). Example #1 Previous Class Structure Current Class Structure 2nd Level Intermediate Am Pleasure Level 2 Am Western Pleasure 1st Level Nov Am Western Pleasure Level 1 Am Western Pleasure Example #2 Previous Class Structure Current Class Structure 3rd Level Senior Trail Level 3 Sr. Trail 2nd Level Progressive Sr. Trail Level 2 Sr. Trail 1st Level Green Trail Level 1 Trail 3rd Level Amateur Western Pleasure Level 3 Am Western Pleasure What Level am I and what level is my Horse? AQHA has pubished a list of specific points required for each class for each level. In addition, they have published a listing at www.aqha. com/leveling, in which you can find your own name, or your horse’s name, and check to see what level you are in each of the classes you show. You will need your Membership ID# and your Horses Registration #. It is important to note that a horse or exhibitor may show at a higher level than their points would indicate, but they may not show at a lower level. Fri. May 29th - Barn 8 Arena Sat.
