MUSIC, PR & MARKETING Musical Bio Nyck Jeanes is a singer songwriter and long term Byron Bay resident. Streets of Adelaide is his fourth studio album. The title track is a personal ballad written for his father, a war hero and will be released for the 100th anniversary of Anzac Day. His music is heartfelt and inspiring and delivered in a rich and powerful way. “There’s something in your music, in the lyrics that really speaks from a deeper place than most”, says Paul Gomersall (Kate Bush, Sinead O’Connor, Phil Collins). Nyck’s early years were spent busking on the streets of Paris and collaborating with travelling musicians in Austria, where he recorded his first album in 1980 on cassette tape – a collection of songs written for his daughter, Skye. It didn’t take long for Nyck to move on from playing in bands and duo’s in hometown Adelaide and then in Cairns, to settle into a life time love affair with writing and producing original songs. Most of his songs are written or inspired by family, lovers or friends, music is a personal thing for Nyck. In 2006 he formed a duo with his wife, Rachel Zinman– Subway Bhaktis – and together they produced 2 studio albums and an EP to great acclaim and worldwide distribution. Sita Ram won three North Coast Music Industry awards and begun a collaboration with Grammy-nominated producer, Kamal Engels. Nyck and Kamal have produced a number of songs together that also appear on the Streets of Adelaide 6-track EP. Right from his first recordings, musicians can’t help but get on board, inspired by his concepts, heartfelt lyrics and catchy melodies. Aside from songwriting, Nyck Jeanes has written and recorded the soundtracks for a number of documentaries for the ABC Visionaries series and for Channel 4 in England. In fact, Nyck has written soundtracks for everything from theatre productions and festivals, to the well-known tantric film, Sacred Sex. Nyck Jeanes is well known as popular radio announcer for Bay FM, Byron Bay’s community radio since 1990. His shows have won a CBAA award, and whilst living in New York during 9/11, his audio report, Letter from New York was broadcast and syndicated throughout Australia n the CBAA network. He is a prominent MC for in Byron Bay festivals, social and community events. In 1999 he won the Cultural Diversity Prize whilst completing his BA in Media and Creative Writing. Having spent his early years as an actor as well as musician, he is a confident spokesperson and performer. Streets of Adelaide includes new collaborations and a new direction for Nyck’s music.
