The Prep Sports Festival, which kicked off this year’s Easter Sports Festival, was held with tremendous success over
the last weekend of March. The support received for this event has ensured that this will continue. Thank you to all
our parents who volunteered their time and energy to give the participating scholars fond memories. Thank you to
all the players who entertained us under lights on the Wayne Joubert field and on the netball courts.
And now for the main Easter Sports Festival, held in association with Standard Bank…..
2015 is proving to be the most exciting Festival since its inception as a Rugby Festival 32 years ago. The standard of
play in all the sporting codes promises to be exceptionally high, and interest from the media is testament to the
regard in which the Festival is held by the public. This year the new radio station – Hot 91.9 – is covering Saturday’s
events live (http://www.hot919.co.za/). So if you are attending on that day, make sure to wear your best smile –
you may be spotted by the roving mike!
Plus, for the first time we will be using Standard Bank’s ‘Tap & Go’ cashless payment system. We want to make this
a cashless Festival. It’s a no-fuss, convenient method. More details below.

Cashless Payment options:
o Standard Bank, our anchor sponsor, is enabling us to implement their ‘Tap & Go’ payment system at the
Festival
o What are contactless cards?
o Contactless, or ‘Tap & Go’ cards, can be identified by this symbol:
o They give you a convenient and fast way to pay for purchases under the value of R200 without having to dip
or swipe your card and enter your PIN. You simply tap your card at the point-of-sale terminal to pay.
o Once you tap your card against the terminal, your payment will be complete in just 3 seconds, meaning less
time in queues and more time to enjoy the action! Plus, your card never leaves your hand, so there’s less risk
of it being lost or stolen.
o How it will work at the Festival?
o As leaders in card solutions, Standard Bank will be providing the contactless technology for the Festival.
o They will also be issuing prepaid cards at designated areas on each day of the event. Prepaid cards will be
available in denominations of R50, R100 and R200 each.
o If you already have a contactless debit/cheque or credit card (issued by any bank), you will be able to use it to
pay for any purchases you make during the Festival. If you would like to apply for a card before the event,
visit.www.standardbank.co.za, or you can apply for a card at your nearest Standard Bank branch.
o After the festival, your contactless card can be used at any MasterCard merchant.
