MANY THANKS OLGC is very thankful to parishioner Thomas Geib whose company SOUTHAMPTON WINDOW & JANITORIAL SERVICES generously donated days of work in the Trinity Center. They stripped, waxed and cleaned the entire lower floor and also cleaned the windows. This was a large job which they did AT NO COST TO US. This is not the first time that they made such a generous donation to OLGC. Last year, they generously polished our stone flooring. Such generosity is both moving and greatly appreciated. We are also grateful to Mike Esbensen and our CYO Board for their $1,000 contribution to our parish to help defray maintenance costs and to help with the expenses incurred by the winter weather. The CYO Board is comprised of parish volunteers who generously contribute many hours of service. This contribution is in addition to all they already do to help our parish children. The best way to feed that hunger is to delve into the Bible & savor its message. Attending the National Catholic Bible Conference is a great starting place! Last year it was a sell out with over 1000 attending and 22 were OLGC parishioners. It is a truly blessed time spent with people deep in our faith with speakers that are stimulating Bible scholars. Don’t miss this opportunity as it will be the last year in our area. (As of March 23, it was 50% full.) Friday, June 19, 2015 8:00 AM - Saturday, June 20, 2015 4:00 PM (Eastern Time) Yes, you can sign up for just one day by registering by phone. World Meeting of Families Theme for May Light in a Dark World At its best, the family is a school of love, justice, compassion, forgiveness, mutual respect, patience and humility in the midst of a world darkened by selfishness and conflict. In these ways, the family teaches what it means to be human. However, many temptations arise which try to coax us into forgetting that male and female are created for covenant and communion. For example, poverty, affluence, pornography, contraception, philosophical and other intellectual mistakes can create contexts that challenge or threaten healthy family life. The Church resists these things for the sake of protecting the family. Faustina: Messenger of Divine Mercy Faustina: Messenger of Divine Mercy, the live theatrical one-woman drama performed by actress Maria Vargo and directed by Leonardo DeFilippis of Saint Luke Productions, will be presented at the following parishes in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia: Friday, May 8th Saint Timothy Church 3001 Levick St Phila., PA 19149 Saturday, May 16th Nativity of Our Lord 585 W Street Road Warminster, PA 18974 Wednesday, May 13 Our Lady of Calvary 11024 Knights Rd, Phila., PA 19154 Sunday, May 17th Saint Philip Neri 1325 Klinerd Road Pennsburg, PA 18073 In Faustina, audiences experience firsthand the spirit and life of Polish mystic Saint Faustina, whose personal encounters with Jesus have inspired a world-wide zeal for Christ's Divine Mercy. A parallel modern story within the drama offers audiences a compelling personal connection to the current moral issues of our times. OLGC School Highlight Our Lady of Good Counsel School celebrated Earth Day by participating in the TICCIT Program on Wednesday, April 22, 2015. TICCIT (pronounced "ticket") stands for "Trees into Cartons, Cartons into Trees". This outreach and educational program is held every year to highlight Earth Day and Arbor Day. Thanks to the generosity of Mr. Chris Madison (brother of our very own Mr. Kevin Madison) and his company Graphic Packaging International, our fourth through eighth grade students were treated to an Arbor Day Sustainability presentation and their very own saplings to be planted at home. Our Pre -K through Grade 3 students were presented with coloring books. It was a wonderful experience for all of the students. We are most appreciative of Mr. Chris Madison and his colleagues for sharing their gifts of time, talent, and treasure with our students. Happy Earth Day! In other news... The Marketing Department of Our Lady of Good Counsel School hosted a breakfast seminar for our local business leaders to thank them for their never-ending generosity in supporting Catholic education.
