Founded in 1997 by Sylvie Bouchard and Artistic Director David Danzon, CORPUS is known for
its precise and surrealist humour that combines movement with theatrical imagery. CORPUS'
unique and engaging performances are presented in both traditional and unusual locations, for
diverse audiences.
CORPUS has 10 pieces in its repertoire and has presented over a thousand performances at
venues and events across Canada and around the world including the Milk International Children
Festival (Toronto), Just for Laughs (Montreal & Toronto), Canada Dance Festival (Ottawa),
Dancing On the Edge Festival (Vancouver), Awesome Children Festival (Australia); Singapore Arts
Festival; La Fira de teatre de Tarréga (Spain); Festival International de théâtre au Benin (West
Africa) and International Straattheaterfestival (Belgium). The company has visited more than 25
countries on four continents and has accomplished in 2011 its 10th international tour.
CORPUS' work can also be seen on television and on film. The Bravo!FACT short Peep Show has
been programmed in over 40 film festivals around the world and won the Audience Award at
Cinedans (Netherlands) in 2004. With Treehouse TV, CORPUS co-created 4-Square, an
increasingly popular educational television series for pre-schoolers, reaching 6 million viewers in
Canada.
Several of CORPUS' productions have been nominated for Dora Mavor Moore awards including
Outstanding Choreography for Rendez-vous (2000), Nuit blanche (2002) and Les moutons (2003) and
Outstanding Performance for Rendez-vous (2000).
In 2002 CORPUS was the recipient of the Prix Hommage for Arts awarded by the Féderation
Culturelle Canadienne Française. And in 2001, CORPUS was the gold-medal winner at the IV
Games of la francophonie (Street Theatre category).

Les moutons
Reality Reality meets fantasy in this wordless live installation that recreates a bucolic country scene
in a typical urban setting. Travel to a strange & hilarious universe as CORPUS takes you through
a carefully studied, surrealistic overview of sheep behaviour. Meet Julie, Marie-louise, Bernadette
and César, 3 healthy ewes and a young ram. Routine activities include: shearing, feeding, milking
and many more... This truly innovative performance twists reality in surprising ways and takes
audience interaction to new heights!
"The sheep stare vacantly and irremediably
as a truly pastoral poetryemerges..."
Meuse, Bar-le-duc, France
"It must have taken months of close study to
learn how to impersonate sheep so effectively
but, when a dog was prompted to bark angrily and audience members even offered nibbles, their success was unquestionable."
