June 2015 Newsletter The picture on the cover of this month’s newsletter was taken by Bro. Gary at Lake Jordan and is just one of the scenic views this great fishery has to offer. It really exemplifies the splendor of God’s creation. It’s so scenic; I decided to use it again. Our turnout for the June tournament on Perdido River was good despite the hot weather and slightly stained water. Nineteen fishermen (and women) blasted off for their favorite honey holes on this sometimes stingy fishery. Crawford Odom and his partner, John Werdann, didn’t run too far early in the morning but were zipping up and down the river in the afternoon. I don’t know it they were looking for fish or trying to keep Big John cool but it paid off. The team finished in first place with five fish weighing in at 7.73 lbs. Bro. Crawford also had the tournament lunker at 3.22 lbs. Second place went to the one man team of Jeff Weaver whose four fish came in at 5.53 lbs. Another angler fishing alone finished in third place when Greg Smith weighed in two nice fish totaling 5.36 lbs. The final prizewinning position went to the team of Michael and Melissa Johnson whose five fish stringer tipped the scales at 4.37 lbs. I don’t know whether to call them Johnson and Johnson or the M&Ms. All totaled, the club caught 34 fish weighing a total of 41.19 lbs. All fish were returned to the river alive. Our next tournament is our annual cookout and bible study at Live Oak Landing on July 18th. The pre-fish meeting is scheduled for July 12th. See you there.
