TABLE TALK
Come see our production of Treasure Island next Friday or Saturday, May 8-9.
Tickets are available through the office. The kids would really appreciate your support
and it's a relatively inexpensive entertainment venue: $3.00 for children and students
and $5.00 for adults.
See the story of a boy who goes out to seek treasure, only to find that friendship and
loyalty are more important than gold and silver and pieces of eight.
"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and
where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven,
where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and
steal" (Matthew 6:19-20)
We will have a retirement ceremony for Mr. Vern Arndt, 4th grade teacher, following
the Elementary Awards Ceremony at about 9:20 in the cafeteria.

IS BREAKFAST READY?
There will be...glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good.
Romans 2:9-10
Though I (JCD) have always respected the talents of mothers, my appreciation for
them soared when my son, Ryan, was three years old. Shirley broke her leg while
skiing (she claims it was an accident), granting me the chance to do her thing for a
few weeks. It was a shocking experience.
My first day on the job, Ryan interrupted my deep, dreamy sleep with a loud cry at 6
a.m. As he howled, I staggered toward his room, then nudged open the door. The
crying abruptly stopped and a cheery voice asked, "Is breakfast ready?" I trudged into
the kitchen and stared at the cabinets, hoping something quick and simple would
tumble out. Ryan followed, peppering me with questions such as "Are we having
bacon?" and "Why isn't the milk poured?"
Finally, exasperated with his unresponsive new "mother," Ryan sighed and said, "I'm
getting so tired of you!"
Isn't that often the story of motherhood? You give up your own needs to care for your
beloved offspring-yet they fail to appreciate or even notice it. Be assured, however,
that God notices. Every sacrifice, large or small, brings a smile to His face and joy to
heaven. That's worth remembering the next time your child is howling at 6 a.m.
Before you say good night...
l
l
l
What do you find most discouraging about motherhood?
What can the kids and your spouse do better to help you?
In what ways does God value mothers? (See Exodus 20:12; Leviticus 20:9;
Proverbs 23:22; Isaiah 66:13; John 19:26-27.)
(mother) Heavenly Father, thank You for the blessing of motherhood. Give me
strength and encouragement to face its challenges as I seek to fulfill and enjoy Your
ordained plan for our family. Amen.

Make A Bequest
Some donors find the best way to support Omaha Christian Academy well into the
future and provide for future generations of students is to make a bequest in their
will. There are several different types of bequests, but with each, the entire value of
the bequest is eligible for an estate tax charitable deduction. Please contact Donna
Blum or your tax accountant for more information. Thanks for your support! You
are a blessing to us!
STOP Referral Program
The vast majority of families come to OCA as a result of a referral. The STOP
Referral Program is designed to equip and incentivize current OCA families to
promote OCA to other Christian families in the Omaha community. By
participating in this program, you will receive a $500 referral credit toward your
own tuition account for each new family you refer. Learn more>>
