Parents’ Night
Every semester OMC organizes parents’
meeting to discuss student’s progress at college
and find solutions to academic or behavioral
problems. The meeting also supplements the
information conveyed by focusing on students'
specific strengths and weaknesses throughout
the courses. This semester the meeting was
held on two consecutive days, 13th and 14th
April. The parents also had the opportunity to
meet the Dean, the head of departments and
faculty. A survey was conducted to get their
feedback about the college.
Oman Academic Accreditation Authority conducted a workshop on its draft Strategic Plan 20152020 on Monday 13 April 2015 at the Majan Continental Hotel.
The workshop was attended by Dr. Yaseen & Dr.AR. Mullaicharam. Two students Maha Sabeeh
and Ibtisam Al Malki represented OMC and provided their feedback.

Annual Medical Conference on acute medicine
The 2015 Annual Medical Conference on Acute Medicine, which was held in Bahrain provided
another successful opportunity for doctors to gain knowledge, exchange ideas, and network to share their
practices. Many participants attended the three day conference, held on first week of April, which included a
keynote speech , a lecture about the ER system and discussions on Ebola and Corona. A group of
eight students represented OMC. The participants were Afra Yousuf AlKhusaibi, Ghadeer

Oman Medical Students 5th General Assembly
Oman Medical College organized the 5th General Assembly Symposium associated with Sultan
Qaboos University Medical Students (SQU-MSG) on 11th April, 2015 at Sohar campus. The theme
was “Be the change you want to see in the world”. The aim was to see changes on health care
provided internationally and to upgrade the physicians. Many enthusiastic medical students attended
the symposium and highlighted on the importance of education and medicine, to formulate policies
of developing humanitarian ideas and medical ethics amongst medical students and also plan to
follow public health and awareness.

Workshops:
A three day workshop was organized by the Directorate General
of Health Services in Sur represented by Sur health Center pharmacy department from 19th to 21st April, 2015. HE Sheikh
Muslim bin Saeed bins Rashid Mahrouki
Wali, Sur inaugurated the event, and the aim
of this event was to raise awareness on the
appropriate usage of drugs and the role of
pharmacists. Two Students Ms. Hebat Allah

Global Higher Educational Exhibition
(GHEDEX 2015)
Oman’s leading Global Higher Education
Exhibition- GHEDEX organized a three day
conference from 20th April to 22nd April, 2015
under the patronage of the Ministry of Higher
Education. It provided students and parents the
option of choosing from among 200 top-notch
universities and colleges from over 23
countries. Oman Medical College also
participated in this great event.

Community Service
Dr. Rasha Al-Senawi , lecturer at OMC, Natural Science department ,delivered a lecture on Cardiac
Arrest and CPR at Abu Nabhan Al-Kharusi School on 20th April ,2015
The objectives were: Reviewing steps while performing a CPR.
 Demonstrative techniques of quality CPR.
 Using a variety of scenarios to use an AED.
Also explained Defibrillation, Compressions and identified the CHAIN OF SURVIVAL with simple
practical work.

School Visit
In order to promote career guidance in the field of Pharmacy and Medicine, OMC opened its door
for schools to update about the facilities and career. The students took a short tour around our
college visiting the laboratories and the library.

Ministerial Visit
His Excellency Prof. Dainius Pavakasi, the Minister of Education and Science in the Republic of
Lithuania visited Oman Medical College on April 20th, 2015 accompanied by the Lithuanian nonresident ambassador of Oman, Head of International Cooperation at the Lithuanian Ministry of
Education and Science, the Vice Dean of international program, Vilnius University, and Mr. Bader
Al Kindi represented the Ministry of Higher education. The delegates were received by the Dean,
Dr. Saleh Al Khusaibi, the Vice Dean, Dr. Yaseen Al Lawatia, the Deputy Dean, and Dr. Abdullah
Al Ghailani with the presence of HODs. They were briefed about OMC programs and were taken on
a short college tour. Dr. Saleh, Dr. Yaseen and Dr. Abdullah discussed the potential bilateral
academic cooperation between OMC and the Lithuanian academic institutions.

A three day photography workshop was organized by the Middle East College of Information
Technology from 27th April – 29th April, 2015 at MECIT. Mastering the craft of capturing a perfect
photo demands not only a strong technical foundation, but also a basic knowledge of photography.
The workshop highlighted the basics on attitude, concept, understanding and practice. Seven
students represented OMC.
